  1. 1. Jig - can do almost anything so it makes one rig very versatile... 2. Texas Rig 3. Chatterbait
  2. I have a few Setups. Open water - champ 705cb with 14kb suffix siege. This rod is my go to moving bait rod so the mono is for all purpose. Light weeds - dx 744 and 15lb invizx Weedy - champion 734 and 30lb braid Honestly you can throw a chatterbait on most anything in a pinch. Some guys what a parabolic bend and some guys fish it like a jig and want something heavy and powerful.
  3. The one knockers are money. Their squarebills have more flash than the strike king version so I tend to use them when there is more sun and clearer water.
  4. Isn't it just the old fireline braid? If so, it gets better after that stupid coating wears off
  5. It's refreshing to see someone post the actual breaking strength along with the rated strength. Allows you to better fine tune your line selection
  6. Nope...grey with black gigas spool
  7. I have a 2002 type r and it is smooth beyond measure especially at casting.
  8. People use dean as an example but you have to figure that he uses his frogs mostly in open water where he can walk them. This doesn't require a heavy heavy rod as opposed to thick mats and heavy vegetation where a longer extra heavy rod is preferred. In open water I can use a lighter rod and lighter braid no problem as the fishing digging into weeds isn't a problem. When I'm fishing heavy weeds, it's 65lb braid and my dx 746
  9. Great company with great products. You won't be disappointed
  10. As Iabass said, the 4 power is probably better suited for those applications. I only own the 684 cb in that power as it is my primary jerkbait/popper setup. A 704 would probably do you better. I use my 705cb for almost all my moving baits as it is just that versatile.
  11. Suffix siege in 12 or 14lb are on my all purpose moving baits rod. Amazing stuff
  12. It will be fine. I use rods at all lengths for frogs. What matters is the cover you are fishing. Heaviest stuff is a longer heavier rod. You can throw frogs on a medium heavy is the weeds aren't thick.
  13. Savvy 735 and something with a solid drag and high speed.
  14. Laser speed spool 79.99 Speed spool 99.99 Tournament mg 129.99 Tournament 149.99 Bb1 149.99 Super Duty 179.99 Bb1 Pro 199.99 Tournament pro 199.99 Team Lews Gold 239.99 Team Lews Pro 299.99 That is the order from lowest to highest. The models are differnt and allow you to pick something more specifically oriented toward your needs. Want something for cranking?-bb1 Frogging-super duty All purpose?-tournament pro Better finish and all aluminum?-team gold
  15. Tank...heavy, durable, strong and bulletproof
  16. Ike's rods are taking their place is my guess....Abu has rods at every other price point besides 100. Vendetta is already $80
  17. I've honestly had a ton more success swimming a football jig slowly while maintaining bottom contact (almost like a crankbait). When they want something moving slow, I go with the c-rig
  18. Either will get you a great reel. I'm sure most will say the tatula because it is the latest and greatest. I would choose the tournament since I've had one and it was amazing
  19. Zillion. Got a coastal, 2 50th anniversary, and a type r. Palm amazingly, tons of upgrades and rock solid. I sold my tatula before casting it because I hate how it palmed for me. I'm sure it's a great reel but I just couldn't make the switch even though it would have saved me a ton of money
  20. Let's say precison casting was not its strong suit. Flipping, pitching and even punching were it's main uses.
