  1. I am honestly at a loss for words, I really am. Just see for yourselves. I think something needs to be done to fix us humans. I dont want to judge people, but what is north korea doing to it's neighbors!? http://www.i-am-bored.com/bored_link.cfm?link_id=22619
  2. It's true, those change jars are very helpful. Bieng a high school senior, I dont spend too much money on a continuous basis, and after starting a change collector I had 10 extra dollars in quarters in only a couple of weeks. Add the pennies, nickels and dimes and I had close to 20 dollars total in around 14 days. Saving for the road trip is a good idea, I'm going to make an effort ot go on the trip next year, so i just may save it for that!
  3. That mountain dew trick sounds interesting, but how are the fish affected in the long run? It seems like those chemicals may have adverse affects on the bass. I mean, that stuff is bad enough for humans...
  4. 6.5 lbs on live shiner (the one in my avatar)

Last night I woke up feeling terrible with a fever, headache and stomach ache. We think the cause was some kind of food poisoning. Anyway, I was resting on the couch when I suddenly had to throw up. I ran to the door while the vomit started coming up. As I scrambled to unlock the door before it was too late, the dam in my mouth started to burst. Right as I pushed the door open I projectile vomited ... right onto one of my cats! After spending 2 minutes on my hands and knees watching my dinner come up, I went inside and saw the cat with a rather disturbed look on his face . When I saw his face coupled with his matted, chunky fur, I couldnt help but laugh despite feeling like total crap. While I still feel bad, that incident does bring a slight smile to my face stil... Just thought i would share that... :
  6. Try sliding a small piece of sponge up the hook shank, then covering that in attractant. It seems to hold the scent longer. It can also make your bait fall slower which is usually a good thing imo
  7. Keeping your gear in top shape should always be a high priority, even when not fishing. While I admit to slacking off on this detail in the past, I now know how important it is to keep all your gear in good shape. After most fishing trips I hose off my gear to rid it of bass slime and soft plastic lure residue. Make sure you keep your drag set very light when you store your rods and reels, especially when storing them for an extended time. I have had a few reels' drag quit working properly by keeping them tight during the winter. Having shiny, clean equipment when you start your fishing day or season helps keep your gear in good shape and looks better at the lake than a crusty rod with a squeeking reel.
  8. Wow, what a beastly corpse... That is too bad that it is dead though. Do you have a pic showing the entire body? How far is varner from Atlanta again? I plan on doing alot of fishing all over the place this summer lol
  9. Wow the weight calculator says the first one is a 13 pounder, and I think that's just about right! That thing is a beast. Look how big its 2nd dorsal fin is. Awesome catches man!
  10. So let me get this straight. There was no reason for you to come back home all worried because it wasn't even your daughter? Thats insane! Im sorry you had to worry like that about nothing. That teacher needs to get the right parents next time. No sense in upseting more than one set of parents.
  11. Thats awesome man! except for the whole hook in the head thing... :
  12. Thats almost exactly what I said when I saw that this afternoon. I think I will try the swivel thing saturday, it sounds like a worthy idea
  13. 87% dixie. Sounds about right. I always get flak for saying "y'all" up north.
  14. Man that would have been the pefect time to drop a "oh so thats why you look so good" line! Seriously tho i do hear good things about the ab lounge. Not that this man needs one or nothin!
  15. Hahahaha EW! Nice one squid!
  16. ...Which is why those big game charters are so costly. Sometimes you just pay for a 700 dollar boat ride...
  17. I'd probably hit a weightless bubblegum trick worm fished like a jerkbait. Those things are sexy in the water
  18. i am in the same position a mafishing21 and I was thinking about going for peacocks and such in south america. Does anyone know when the rainy season is down here? Also, anymore ideas on where to fish (doesnt have to be bass) would be great.
  19. Today was my second time fishing this year. While the fishing was slow, my patience payed off. I was fishing a Tiki Stik near some submerged branches from the bank. Watching my line, I noticed a very slight pause in the lure's decent. I set the hook and started dragging in what felt like a small bass. The fish took me by surprise and darted with a strong burst of power into some branches, which took a second to navigate it out of. When I got it out of the snag, it was not fighting at all and i thought it had gotten off. Another few quick, strong bursts of power and some cranks of the reel, and I was surpirsed to find a 5 pounder at my feet. She had put up a very good fight, but only in short bursts, which led me to belive it was just a tenacious 2-3 pounder. After a kiss and a quick weight mesurement, I placed her back into the water with my finger in her mouth and waved her back and forth until she was able to let go of my thumb and swim away (not before splashing my in the face/chest with cold water). Considering that a cold front just moved through, I think this year will be a good bassin year for me.
  20. Like NEBassMan said, the eyes bulge with age. If you compare a northern bass with a florida one, the northern ones seem to get an eye bulge at a smaller size than the florida ones. Case in point; Last year I caught a 4 pounder in virginia with who's eyes were biginning to bulge. Later I caught a florida 6 pounder whos eyes were also at an early bulging stage. No matter the cause, it is an interesting phenomenon.

  22. This just in... Easter has been cancelled due to an accident Sorry for the bad news
  23. You were wondering what company has the smallest diameter for lb test. I use 50 pund test P-Line Spectrex IV, which has the diameter of 10 pound test mono.
  24. Huge bass are pretty rare, so dont expect to get too many hits in a day. Catching a big bass is a test in patience, so just take it slow and remember you are going for quality, not quantity.
