  1. It does have a lighter coloration, but judging by the defensive gestures and thick body, I think it probably was a water moccasin. Most watersnakes try to escape, moccasins and known for their defensive gestures. Crayon, did you see any fangs? Thats another way to tell.
  2. Yep, bowfin for sure. Cool fish, swam around with some of the dinos. Hope you didn't try to lip it like I first did. Didnt see the teeth until they were in my thumb. :-/
  3. You are using the right hook and the right technique. We all miss a few so keep trying.
  4. Thats awesome! Well maybe not for the snake but great pic. I had a snake jump out of a bush and grab a bluegill I had on once but it was only a watersnake. Sweeet pic
  5. Do you like to rig the big ika forwards, or backwards like the fatty?
  6. You probably will get in trouble for that. I would just learn to admire its beauty. All these threads about snakes and gators ruining fishing spots makes me laugh. I love seeing wildlife while fishing. They wont bother you unless you bother them first. Purposley hooking a gator is a great way to tick it off, I say leave it alone.
  7. Advertiser or not, we did act too harshly towards him. I do apologize for the way I responded. No matter what his or her position, writer, advertiser, or just plain member, we did not welcome Michael in a friendly manner. I dont really care what a person's position on this forum is, they should all be treated with respect. Michael, I hope this does not keep you from enjoying BassResource.com. I encourage you to keep posting, and from now on you will be treated as a friend, not an enemy.
  8. Apparently they are! http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180842191
  9. If you are going to use a topwater, make it one with more splash and commotion, like a buzzbait or something similar. With the waves making some noise, a walk-the-dog bait would probably not get the bass' attention as much.
  10. Has anyone seen this? Walk the dog lure that walks underwater. Looks great for inshore salties and bass.
  11. Nope, its an X-rap shaped like a shad. http://www.rapala.com/enews/may11_07/
  12. This is what I love about BassResource.com. Everybody knows their stuff! Within 4 hours, the guy gets busted. I love it! BTW: I made a new type of soft plastic! It looks boring but it really works! PM me for details!
  13. I'm not even gonna touch this one...
  14. Dont worry, you're not alone. You can often catch me watching TV with my tackleboxes open in front of me. I just like looking at my stuff and rearranging it constantly. Even at my friend's house I constantly mess with his tackle.
  15. My friend and I were gonna get jobs at Dick's but he bailed. I still may do it, sounds awesome!
  16. Holy cow that was NUTS! I liked the grenade toss, quite original...
  17. You can also take the bodies from the same type of worm and make one extra long one. I have a 10 inch powerworm that I made after fusing old powerworms. Now I dont have to buy 10" powerworms.
  18. Cool. let us know how things work out.
  19. Which type of spinnerbait/jig skirt do you prefer? Silicone or rubber or even a combination? Just FYI, the silicone ones are the flat ones, rubber are the round strands that sometimes stick together in high heat.

I use Zoom ol' monster, culprit 10.5"
  21. Just today I got a wicked line cut as a matter of fact. I was fishing with 30lb braided line (8lb mono diameter) on the bank. I threw my fat ika parallel to shore and had my free hand on the line for some dumb reason. A bass grabbed the lure and took off for deep water, causing me to set the hook against/with my free finger. After I felt it pop into my finger, I looked down barely saw the line because it was buried deep in my finger. I had to yank the line out then land the fish. Luckly for me, I havent had any serious injuries(no ER visits), but I have had my share of cuts, hookings, impalings, line cuts, and general owies.
  22. WOW. I have had to handline one or two myself, but nothing nearly that big. Very nice!

Holy cow! I just watched the video on youtube. Soo kim wasnt even trying to do much, just hold on for dear life. I have never seen someone tap out just from getting punched. Did it count as submission or TKO?
