  1. I'm with Avid, I enjoy the atmosphere after a hard storm. There is often an erie calm about the lake. That with that earthy smell gets me every time!
  2. For me I would probably go with a 10+ LM. No smallies here in GA so I'll just stick with that.
  3. AWESOME JOB! I guess you posted that "messed up" thread a little too soon huh? Once again folks, there goes "Farmer Chris" holding one of his prized hogs...
  4. I dont own a net because I think that landing fish with my hands just adds to the excitement. When I catch gar in florida, I just grab them by the snout and support their weight with my other hamd. I also love getting "bass thumb" after a good day of fishing. If my thumb is nice and torn up, I know I had a successful day on the water.
  5. Yea I saw that a while ago and was like oh god not again... I wonder what the next 'scam' will be? Maybe a lure that reels itself in?
  6. Toadfish and cowfish in saltwater. I have seen and felt a caught a filefish, and they really do feel like nail files!
  7. Once while bringing a hooked bluegill out of the water, a watersnake "jumped" out of a bush and latched on to the fish. Took a bit of snaking to get it to let go. It was really cool!
  8. Being a science guy (especially aquatics), It sounds like I would really like this book. Thanks Sam!
  9. 1st: One time as my friend and I were pulling up to the dock, I found out that he left too much slack in the tie-down rope. As I put one foot on the dock, the boat started moving away. I soon found myself doing a split trying to get the boat back like in the cartoons. After plunging into the water, I never let him tie us off anymore. 2nd: At my grandmother's house in orlando I was fishing live shiners from her dock. I was sitting in a chair and catching shiners with one rod, then transfering them to my other rod. After catcthing a shiner I bent forward to get my other rod. Well one of the front legs of the chair had slid forward and was hanging over the edge of the dock. As I leaned forward, the chair tipped forward and I let out an "oh %&@#" as I fell over the edge. Because the lake was down, there was enough airspace to allow my body to almost complete a flip from the momentum. So I had to swim ashore with the chair in one hand and my rod in the other. :-/
  10. I actually laughed out loud at that. Great job, I wouldnt mind seeing more of those!
  11. Oh you scared me for a sec... Do you mind making that a double order of pizza and coke? ;D
  12. ^what they said!^ great job, good info
  13. I carry 3-5 rods and have water and small tacklebox in a backpack.
  14. No, its a bowfin. Snakeheads have a very long anal fin. snakehead info: http://www.invasivespeciesinfo.gov/aquatics/snakehead.shtml
  15. I have seen large bass small watersnakes around in my friend's lake. Those lures just may work in some places...
  16. fair enough ;D
  17. oh my god reaction innovations is full of pervs! Well those names surely got a reaction out of me.
  18. Find some silica gel, or any other desicant. I'm talking about the little packs you find in items like beef jerky that say "do not eat". These absorb moisture and keep things nice and dry. I have about 20-30 from medicine bottles and beef jerky.
  19. guides nowadays have been created to withstand braid. I have had no problem on any of my rods for the past 2+ years of using braid.

Was it a popping frog type lure? http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_58672_100007008_100000000_100007000_100-7-8
  21. While I dont condone killing snakes, even "mean" ones, be careful when handling a snake's head. Even when severed from the body, the head still bite for anl amount of time. There have been documented cases of people bieng bitten and injected with venom from decapitated snakes. Just a word of warning.
  22. I must say the colors are pretty accurate!
  23. I bring my hook point up behind the body too. Works much better for solid hooksets.
  24. I have caught a catfish on a jitterbug but I have never seen one come onto the bank before...
  25. Mad man lures went away but you can still get craw tubes like them. YUM craw bugs are the same thing. I fish them on a texas rig and have good success. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_45768_100007004_100000000_100007000_100-7-4
