  1. The original coach made his own bed by not following through on his responsibilities. If you have the time and want to give it a try then do it. The kids have nothing to lose and everything to gain if you give them the time they deserve. I say go for it.
  2. I'd probably stick with baits that move a lot of water. Since the water is that dirty the fish will probably key in on things they can feel. Spinnerbaits with indiana or colorado blades, cranks with a wider wobble, rattle traps. Good luck!
  3. Congrats on the degree and the lifestyle change. I hope your new found skills will provide you with some time to go fishing. I've been out of school for a while now, what kind of things are they teaching in a cyber security degree?
  4. I have the pflueger president 6930 and it is my favorite spinning reel, I use 20 lb power pro super slick on it and it works great.

Good luck bigbill. Be careful and don't over exert yourself on the first outing.

I agree, very nice guesture, as big as BPS is I'm glad they took care of you. Everyone complains when bad things happen, however they do not say a peep when good things happen. I try to make it known when someone goes out of their way to make things right.
  7. I ran into the same thing this weekend, few bass just cruising or on their beds. I fished a weightless zoom super fluke in watermelon seed and it took a few tries, but eventually the bass hit it.
  8. AbuCroixGuy, Good luck and make the most of your fishing time. It'll be well worth it catching that big ol' sneaky bass!
  9. Maybe try it for a year and see how you like it? There is something to be said about having a nice place to fish, nothing to worry about, no one to bother you and the people who are there are into it enough to spend the money. I would if I wasn't 4 hrs away.
  10. I've used the Albright knot for joining braid to fluoro, frankly it's the only knot I use to join two lines together http://www.animatedknots.com/albright/index.php?LogoImage
  11. baitcast reel on a spinning rod? Really hard to see.
  12. I've put on hold working on my 78 CB550 motorcycle, as well as a slew of house projects.
  13. Being in IL, overcrowding kind of comes with the territory. I am not sure where in IL you are, but up near Chicago, it can get pretty rough. I do a lot of fishing out in the suburbs for a couple of reasons. There is less population density and the ponds/lakes out there that are pretty nice and hold nice fish. I wouldn't mind fishing the managed fishery one time, but that price is pretty steep. I would imagine managing a fishery that holds big fish like that isn't cheap either. Part of the fun of fishing is figuring out a pattern, and even at the managed fishery you have to figure it out as well. If they allow you to split the cost, maybe share the membership with a few other guys?
  14. Great idea on the jig kits.
  15. I'm a little late to the party but I upgraded from a shoulder bag that carried 3 - 3600 boxes to a tactical style backpack that can probably hold 5 or 6 3700 boxes (I only carry 3) and two other pockets for my soft plastics/pliers/tools. I got it from here: http://www.lapolicegear.com/diplomat-3-day-backpack1.html The bag is pretty nice quality and has a option for the camelback. I got one bag for fishing and one for our bug out bag.
  16. I'd give the jigs with a craw trailer a try as well as a t-rigged lizard.
  17. I've got one of these myself, my wife got it for me as an anniversary present. At first I was kind of iffy about it since I probably wouldn't have bought myself something that nice. But it is really dang nice. Very light and super smooth. **edit: Doh, just saw this. I thought you were talking about the chronarch ci4+...
  18. I understand you're probably feeling guilty about this, but it's pretty clear cut. If you caught it early and said something to him (like the first time he did it) then he could probably have done something about it. But it's too far along now, other people have noticed and it's a time bomb waiting to go off. Talk to the manager or whomever, you're doing the drunk guy a favor before he kills/hurts someone.
  19. I don't see why not. If the tip loads up enough to get a good cast you should be fine. Is the tip extra fast?
  20. What I like to do is take a look at the water clarity to get your color choice, then start fishing. If spinner baits don't work, try something a little slower with a crank bait and slower again with a t rig or shakey head. If nothing then there are no fish there...
