  1. I really like the stuff. In the past I had problems with flourocarbon breaking at the knot, but that just has not happend with this stuff. I will be purchasing more when my season starts up again.
  2. Rodney Carrington is pretty funny to me
  3. Well this is my first year in this particular club, but last year at the top 8 tournament, several of the guys in our club and other clubs could not fish because they didnt have the $300,000 insurance coverage on their boat. They were apparently not aware of this before the tourny and more than half the field couldnt qualify. I think this is the major issue people are having, but I dont know exactly. I think FLW is a better option personally because I like the opportunity to fish on into bigger events.
  4. Our club is going to decide whether or not to go back to B.A.S.S as well. We are currently affiliated with FLW and I think people have issues with the insurance stuff. I'm not effected because I am covered, but I am interested in what people have to say about this.
  5. I'm a big fan of the Norman thin N. Great bait for the price and good color selections.
  6. I think you might have got onto something there good job. I have found a pattern like this before when the wind was up, they were out on the shad, and when the wind stopped, they were on shallow wood. Hope you continue to stay on those fish, good job.
  7. I had trouble deciding which one I wanted, but I went with the fast sink because I can burn it just under the surface and slow down if I need to. Just more versitle IMO. Good luck, these things look awsome in the water.
  8. not to scare you or anything, but last year I lost my chocolate lab named champ who had the same symtoms your describing. This went on for a few days and then he just collaped right in front of me and my wife off of the back porch. We took him to the vet and he had injested a handful of rocks that he could not pass. By the time it was over, he didnt make it out of surgery and it was a tough situation. So I say take the dog to the vet ASAP just for good measure. Hope everything is o.k.
  9. I'm probobly going to fish geist this Saturday. I'll let you know how their biting.
  10. Like FiveBassLimit and a few others said confidence and instincts are huge. I heard Gerald Swindle say this on a video and I totally agree, he said "the first second you begin to doubt your techniqe or spot, move". If you dont feel like the next cast will be a fish, you are just wasting time in a spot.
  11. I use 14lb vicous mono or trilene XL 90% of the time
  12. I thought the blood was actually on the deer and not in the air. I dont know, it just looks a little fishy to me. I also coming from Indiana where baiting is illegal, I hate to see the corn right under the deer.
  13. a couple things with this photo, I have seen some other cam pics where it looks like you can see through the deer, but I find it hard for the camera to actually pick up the arrow in flight. Also it almost looks like somebody photoshoped a dead deer on the ground and placed it to look like its jumping. Very interesting
  14. Dad24, Glenn Flint does have some nice fish, but it has been tough as of late due to the killing of all the grass. I just seem to always struggle there. Also along with Flint and Raccoon, Waveland is loaded with bass. It's nothing to catch 30-40 1.5lb-2.0lb bass all day long.
  15. Dont get me wrong here, I think proper grammar and using college level writing is great, but some of these sponsors are looking for personality traits to promote thier products. For example, If I heard somebody like Ike, or Swindle using big "scientific" or "literary" terms about a new jig, that would throw off my perception of their true personality. If I were to sponsor a person, I would look for somebody who talks to people in a comfortable and friendly mannor rather than somebody talking above or beyond the client level. JMO.
  16. 14 in. Trout swimbaits have always seemed to work for me ;D Seriously though, I've been waiting for somebody to respond to this. This lake is hard to get (good) info on.
  17. I really like my Kistler Magnesium Jig and Toad Special. It's not as expensive as some of the others but performs well for me.
  18. I'm from Indiana but have fished Tarpon several times when visiting family down there. You might want to also try running a lipless crank over the grass this time of year. I have caught some nice fish using that method.
  19. these guys are giving you some good advice, but I might add that in areas with wood, I tend to use a square lipped crankbait as opposed to the rounded lipped cranks for weeds and grass.
  20. I really love these jigs also. I caught a ton of fish dragging them off of points in places where I used to Carolina Rig. Now when I pull up to a point I want to fish, I reach for the football jig instead of the carolina rig.
  21. based on your face, I would say about 30lbs. give or take a few ounces. Probobly 7-8lb. Nice fish though no matter how much it weighs. Great Job
  22. I recieved this in an email the other day and thought it would be nice to hear. A Dog's Purpose (from a 6-year old). Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolf hound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience. The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, 'I know why.' Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. He said, 'People are born so that they can learn how to live a good Life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?' The Six-year-old continued, 'Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.' Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like: When loved ones come home, always run to greet them. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.. Take naps. Stretch before rising. Run, romp, and play daily. Thrive on attention and let people touch you. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do. On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass. On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree. When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
  23. I agree with everybody, but I have had good luck with black and blue in the winter months
