  1. I like a 6'6" M to MH depending on size of spinnerbait wither a 6.4 reel spooled with 12-17# copolymer (depending on cover). I generally pick apart cover with the spinnerbait so accuracy is crucial.
  2. 6'6" Medium Daiwa Exceler. It says fast tip but is MF in my opinion. Very accurate when casting around cover.
  3. No its not as bad. Spool the reel correctly and use conditioner
  4. Awesome fish. I fish from low platforms as well and have really enjoyed the +/- 6'6" offerings from ***.
  5. 12-17# copolymer depending on cover. I don't have any crankbaits that are rated deeper than 6'.
  6. Jig spinnerbaits big worm wacky
  7. I fish a jig or spinnerbait 80% of the time. The rest is split up between top water, finesse and crankbaits so those 2 rods sound perfect to me.
  8. I would get a kayak first of all lol. Secondly I have really good luck with jig &craw presentations at old pits. Also the sunken timber screams squarebills aND spinnerbaits to me.
  9. Older Diawa Exceler 6'6" Medium Fast. 8-12# fluorocarbon or mono. 6.4 Lews speed spool. I have had the most luck with KVD 1.5s But have many others.
  10. 12# mono. Floats and doesn't get wrapped up in the trebles as often.
  11. Overall I like the Pop-R taking everything into account.
  12. Awesome pics and stories. I don't fly fish but have always had the itch. I am sure that one day I'll get the bug
  13. Ditto to everything said before. Specifically when around wood or in stained water.
  14. Check their website for dealers in your area. I am lucky enough that a couple eye doctors carry them.
  15. Awesome job. This is a prime example of why forums like this exist!
  16. Don't forget about the spinnerbait. Cast up stream and bring it to the log. Maybe a pause right before but definitely let the spinnerbait drop after coming over the log.
  17. Just seems like an aggressive way to fish a jig. Probably useful in muddy water or on a soft mucky bottom.
  18. Awesome fish!
  19. From what I have gathered most people like 1-2 finesse baits and 1-2 reaction baits. You pick! So far I like spinnerbaits, swimjigs/flukes, tubes and a craw on a shakey head.
  20. I use 30# braid with 15# fluoro on 2 bait casters and 20# braid with 15-8# fluoro on spinning gear. Both work good for me.
  21. Thats what I like for Topwater lures with treble hooks.
  22. For open water I like using a mono in the 12-14# range for leader or mainline. For frogs in cover I run straight braid.
  23. I use them all year. I like fishing around structure and in/around weeds. Also I have never taken the skirt off.
