  1. I've got a 10 foot hobie mirage drive. It's a bit tight to camp/fish out of. I made a rod holder that fits in the back and it helps. My yak hold my tackle crate, sleepingbag, hammock and small cooler. I do a bunch of overnight trips on the Rivers around me. It's doable for one night. I can't carry a big enough cooler for more than 1 days of food though. I usually have someone else take my chair/cooler though. If I had a hobie 12 angler, it'd be much better. The weight difference isn't that great.
  2. This looks awesome. I could pick anyone up at the Nashville Airport and drive down - If I could get away.
  3. I've caught lots of pickerel and gar...Not really that rare. My rarest sight while fishing was having a kingfisher dive into the water and hit a Husky Jerk when I was fishing for trout on the Caney Fork. He got out of the water and started making a commotion like he was ticked.
  4. I haven't seen any new bags yet. I'll be at Bass Pro this weekend to see if they are different. I'd be able to tell immediately. Up until this week I've not had much action on anything but bold bluegill and kerrlicious drop shotting.
  5. I don't get too caught up in colors. Smithwick for me is Avocado Shad, Chrome Blue, Chrome Black, Blue/orange. Although the new Tennessee Shad would probably work better than Avocado. That orange belly is nice.
  6. Shallow Shad Raps, Flat Raps, Flukes with underspins, texas rigged brushhogs, drop shot roboworms.
  7. I usually start in the thick end, then go to the then if it rips before it gets slung off. Also, I've been using the zoom fluke sticks instead of senkos when rigged texas. If I want to fish them wacky real Senkos or the fluke sticks with the forked end bit off.
  8. I fish with a medium fast 6'8" spinning rod for drop shots and plastics on the bottom. All my other fishing is done with bait casters. I can't stand cranking/topwater & walking on spinning now.
  9. Until 150 bucks, I think Bass Pro's Pro Qualifier and Lew's Speed Spools are hard to beat.
  10. Sweet! I've sat in them before. The seat is similar to what's in my Hobie. I much prefer the elevated seats in the Jackson Kayaks.
  11. Rapala: Shad Rap, Shallow Shad Rap, Flat Rap, DT Series, Rattlin Rap, Husky Jerks Rebel: Pop-R, Craws, Frogs, Hoppers Strike King: 1.5s, 2.5s Bill Lewis: Rat-l-trap Berkley: Flickr Shad River 2 Sea: Anything they make Smithwick: Rattling Rogue/Suspending/floating
  12. Pop-rs! I caught several dozen spots yesterday using top water poppers. I like squarebills/shallow shad-raps fishing with a slow retrieve when the water temps drop too. It's too bad our temps are still above 60. I didn't see any thing below 63 yesterday!
  13. I don't ever fish the 6", only the smaller ones. I texas rig them with a small bullet weight and hop them over the bottom. Slow, steady movement.
  14. Alert the authorities! That's a body! /joking (I hope)
  15. 150 bucks price range, for me, is a no brainer. Pflueger President 6930 with a St. Croix Triumph or Shimano Claurus in 6'6" Medium. I don't think you'll find many that disagree with me that under $100 bucks for reels the Pfluegers are hard to beat. Much more than that, price wise, I'm all Shimano. If you wanted to scout a little more... Go to Ebay and find a Pflueger President XT (They are red) amazing little reels. I'd look for a 6930 still. Spool it up with 8lb mono and you'd be set. My wife and I have fished with the plain President Combo all year and it's been amazing. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Pflueger-reg-President-reg-Spinning-Combo/1308567.uts 80 bucks!
  16. I only back my braid. I've been completely lazy lately. My two most used setups are backed with 12 lb mono to 50 lb braid and back to 12lb mono or FC. (similar size lines using alberto knots at both ends) Braid is more than $10 dollars per reel. FC is $5-6 dollars per reel. Mono is $2.5 dollars per reel. All of these are assuming 100 yards per reel.
  17. I've landed the majority of my fish over the past two months on drop shot rig. 6'6" M spinning outfit with 8lb fluoro. 1/8 all the way to 3/8s cylinder weights, they don't tangle the line as much. #1 and 1/0 Gammy drop shot hooks (I just picked up more today!) I fish Roboworms fat and straight. Colors in SXE Shad, Bold Bluegill, Aaron's Magic, Baby Bluegill, Kerrlicious, and Warmouth. Bold bluegill being the best. If you've not fished them, I can heartily recommend the new Zoom Z-drop worms too. It's a rip off of the Jackall Crosstail shads. I like them though. Green Pumpkin and green weenie color of choice.
  18. Lews Speed Spool or Bass Pro Qualifier. Great Reels $100 bucks.
  19. they are my favorite inline spinner! I like the brass/gold colored ones dressed with a feather treble. They kill in creeks/streams/rivers here. Father's day this year I probably caught 60 fish in two hours with rebel craws and panther martin spinners. just like this:
  20. Storm Gobys/Sculpins are amazing in the rivers. I've already caught loads of fish on Zooms Z-drop worms (they stole them from Jackall, Crosstail shad?)
  21. Zoom - Watermelon Red Flake, California 420, Green Pumpkin, Red Bug, Albino, June Bug - (Maybe Blueberry too) Roboworm - Aaron's Magic, Bold Bluegill, SXE Shad, Warmouth Reaction Innovations - Green Pumpkin, Penetration, Dirty Sanchez Senko - Watermelon, Green Pumpkin Blk Flake, MotorOil Red Flake I fish other brands and but not as much as these guys. (Culprit, Berkley Worms and Berkley and Big Bite Baits trailers, Yum dingers and crawbugs) I generally stick with green pumpkin, watermelon, june bug and black and blues. There are some I've had success with like green pumpkin blueflash and tequila sunrise type colors that work too. Motor Oil and Pumpkins and Cinammons are good colors too, I just don't use them much.
  22. If you like your boat, get a new motor. http://www.golsn.com/listings/recreational_vehicles/boats-water_crafts/3661800.html I saw that this week and thought it was a good deal.
  23. I'm not familiar with that brand, but I use the Storm Brand Sculpins and Goby's pretty regularly. They kill in rivers and creeks around here.
  24. Jigging is just moving a bait up and down through the water column. Deadsticking is casting out an unweighted/weighted plasting and letting it sit still for long periods of time then making tiny movements in it to try and entice a hit.
