  1. Pad Crashers. Cost and durability. They catch just as many fish as any others, IMO.

Rapala shallow shad raps are my favorite crankbait bar none. shad, bluegill, black silver, blue silver. In that order. All sizes work.
  3. Falcon Lake Craw is my new favorite color. Last year was dirty sanchez.
  4. Now, I have to order. Thanks
  5. Shallow shad rap. Flat raps. Rounder bodies like 1.0/1.5/2.5s and Arashi's do well too. I know you're not asking about them.
  6. Public trust doctrine. Clean water act. If it was navigable, used for commerce, at the states time of *** anyone can use the water. Wade fishing and water access are different. You can own the bed and banks. It can be on the deed. I used to work for the government in water pollution control. This thing came up routinely.
  7. In the line of the twitch tail minnows, I love the Pin Tail Shad from Jackall...but I'm not paying that price. No way, no how.
  8. Pad Crashers in Cricket is my favorite frog now. I've zeroed every time with Arashis. Only have crappie and baby bass. However, I'm not giving up on them because I've also not caught anything on my strike king square bills either.
  9. I have. Roboworm is the best bait in that category. They are also the best drop shot bait. The only other WORMS I put on a shakeyhead are Zoom Trick Worms and Zoom Finesse worms.
  10. I've landed more fish with Berkley Subwoofer trailers than any other new bait I've found this year. Second place is Zoom Z-Drop worms. Third is Storm Gobys/Sculpins swimbaits.
  11. For that depth, I'd fish lighter jigs like Catt suggested. Swim Jigs and Chatterbaits work well. Don't be too upset about not getting them to work. Like I said previously, I fish texas rigged brush hogs/sweet beavers where most people would fish jigs. I just do better on them. Weightless brushhogs around cover are ridiculous here. Weightless or Pegged weight, A T-Rig is completely weedless and nearly the same presentation as a jig.
  12. I had a great year. I didn't accomplish my goal of a 30" trout though. Although, I'm chalking it up to the tail water generation schedule being so wonky due to the rain. I did catch two 25" browns and a 21" rainbow in one weekend. My two best days fishing this year were on Father's Day stream fishing in the creek behind my parents house. I probably caught 50+ little bass, red eye, panfish and my daughter got to reel in a bunch of them and had a blast. The other great day was out of my kayak. I started with a 3.5lb LMB, followed by a 6lb LMB, then a 4.2 lb LMB followed by a 5 lb stripe. This was like in 2 hours. My favorite fish this year was a 8lb stripe I caught on 6lb test and a light spinning outfit out of my kayak. I caught him in a spot where stripe aren't usually found. I thought I had a monster trout coming out. Turns out it was a foul hooked stripe. Hooked right below the gills and before the pelvic fin. It felt HUGE!
  13. Why don't you just replace the Elite 7x with a Elite 7x HDI? You'd be able to split screen down scan and sonar.
  14. I'm positive that's what they are doing. Hope it bites them too. I saw this week you could buy a Lowrance 4x for 99.99 next week at Bass Pro. That's nearly the same price as the bottom of the line Hummingbirds.
  15. Great deal. I wish I hadn't just got about 35 jigs for $2.00 each. :-(
  16. My dropshot rod is a no-brand IM-8 blank from Pure fishing group. I think it came from a Pflueger President spinning combo. I love it. I drop shot 8lb fluoro mostly.
  17. I fish all my chatterbaits with a different trailer. Usually with a subwoofer (swim jig favorite too) or a Trigger X flappin' grub. I took advantage of a certain online retailers black friday sale and bought some of the Frenzy Vibe chatterbaits that have a swiveling 4/0 hook. I've not fished them yet, but I suspect they will have better action than any other blade baits I've tried.
  18. The only thing that gets harder fishing in the fall is getting out of bed and the house on cold days!
  19. Tie on to the loop furthest from the blade. I fish them like a spinnerbait/swim jig and sometimes I'll rip them off the bottom a few feet and let them drop.
  20. Yeah, what happened to this thread? It was much longer.
  21. Anyone else feel they are underrated? Out of all the baits I've thrown with regularity, I get the biggest fish consistantly on a chatterbait (maybe swim jigs tie). Rippin' it and let it fall or a slow to moderate speed retreive works best for me. I'll admit, they don't work all the time - but, I think they should probably be thrown more.
  22. +1 to Jrob. Fluoro, lighter weights and slowing down. Don't get disheartened. I don't like jig fishing that much. I dead stick or texas rig brush hogs/sweet beavers where most would fish jigs. I do like swim jigs though.
  23. I don't really downsize anything but weights for rate of fall. If I'm getting bumped lots, I'll change colors first, then just change baits. Of course, I usually try to match whatever the fish are eating.
  24. I just got my 3rd size 30 pflueger. It's my wife's new all purpose "yes I'll go fishing with you rod. "
  25. First off, learn to swim. Secondly, I'd recommend any of the larger sit on top kayaks. They are extremely stable comparatively. If you're wanting a canoe to fish with more than one person, consider tandem kayaks or a small jon boat. To answer your question, a flat bottom canoe will be more stable in flat water. In any strong current a rounded bottom is not necessarily more stable, but it's less likely to tip as water moves around the sides. A rounded bottom canoe or one with a keel will tracker better and straighter than one without. http://www.voyageurcanoe.com/stability.html
