- Let's Talk Thermoclines And Turnover
So, I forgot that my Limnology books weren't at home, but at the office. I'll try and scan the appropriate pages when I get a chance. Here is an entire limnology course online, without the optional reading materials; http://www.esf.edu/efb/schulz/Limnology/Limnology3.html Here's the same thing from another school; http://academic.keystone.edu/jskinner/Limnology/ I'll scan those in and try and answer questions anyone has.- Swimbait Jig Heads
Big Hammer. The Money Minnow heads are popular around here too.- Let's Talk Thermoclines And Turnover
I could write a treatise on the subject. I got my degrees in fisheries biology, limnology and icthyology. I'll see if I can scrounge up some links tonight.- Leader Or No Leader?
Those toothy guys will steal your lures. I prefer leaders. I fish for musky occasionally. I like these leaders and they are on sale! http://www.aquateko.com/product_p/nt01430.htm 45 LB titanium leader, doesn't kink and is similar diameter as your 65 lb power pro. You could downsize since your targeting bass.- Kentucky, Tennessee Or ?
I'm all about Cookeville, TN. 1 hour 15 minutes from Percy Priest, 1 hour to Old Hickory, 50 minutes to Dale Hollow, 30 minutes to Center Hill, 35 minutes to Cordell Hull, 45 minutes to Cumberland River, 30 Minutes to Caney Fork River. 50 minutes to Great falls lake and Collins River. Cookeville is extremely cheap to leave for the ammenities it has (ample shopping, places to eat, outdoor stores, hospital/clinics). Not prone to natural disasters either. I'm really happy with where I live. That being said, if I were going to move it would be closer to Chattanooga. The fishing down there is better. As a city, I much prefer it to Nashville. Land Between the Lakes has great fishing, but no scenery and nothing to do in that area. Small towns n' all.- New Baits To Try Out
Try throwing some Frenzy Vibes. Try making your own blade baits. Try throwing buzz baits with a trailer frog/fluke instead of a skirt. Try the double fluke rig. Try split shotting floating plastics. Try throwing mouse patterns at night. Try throwing huge swimbaits.- Anyone Use A Plano 3707 Spinner/buzzbait Box?
Thanks for the replies. And yes! Cavitrons do fit. My wife said the box looks pitiful. I've only got about a dozen spinnerbaits and 7-8 buzzbaits. I think she just gave me an excuse to fill the box- Anybody Buy Soft Plastics Off Ebay?
I get lots of my plastics at Dick's Sporting goods honestly. I don't know if it's just local or what, but the going price for brush hogs, flukes, trick worms and finesse worms is under $3 bucks a bag.- What Is Your Pflueger President On?
Long Mike likes his Pfluegers! I only fish their spinning gear. it's a shame, I've not giving their Baitcasters a sporting try. I'm hung up on Lews. They are seriously nice.- Show Me Your Sentimental Setup!
My most sentimental rod is a 8'6" 5 wt. fly rod my dad built me for my 18th birthday. When we moved into our house, I lost the semi-antique Hardy fly reel that was attached. I was gutted. :-( I picked up a new reel this year and all's good.- Best Medium Action Rod/reel Under $200
I've got a Speed Spool on the older style full cork Clarus that it's awesome for what you're describing. I don't think you can really go wrong with a BPS Pro Qualifier, especially if they are still at the 80 dollar price. I've not fished them but everyone always seems to recommend the *** ***. It's like 100 even. I have fished and love the Okuma EVX line. Lighter than anything in the price range and look amazing! They, too, are 100 even. St. Croix Premiers are nice, but a little bit more money.- Reel Handle Rant. Lol
I'm a righty who started out wade fishing in creeks with spinning gear. I like cranking lefty. I'll always crank lefty. Most of my BCs are Lews...they don't really care if you're RH or LH.- Stock Vs Clean Reel Video
I picked up a mint Abu 6501 C3 from a forum member today at a great price. First thing I did when I got home was take that sucker appart, take old grease out, put new grease and lube on her. Cleaned up the excess and watched her spin. It was a three fold improvement over the condition I got her in. Which was pretty much stock and slightly used. Now, I gotta get a power handle so I can fight those muskys- Two Wright & Mcgill Rick Clunn Casting Rods For $50
I'll be there the 23rd for the next 5 days, I think.- Aquatic Verses Terrestrial Prey
I'm all about mice patterns for Trout.- Reel Handle Rant. Lol
The only knobs that aggravate me are the plain-jane flat knobs that come on Abu's round reels. I just got one today and need a power handle already. My favorite knobs are on the higher end Pfluegers.- Reel Grease/oil
That Nishiki was my dads. Sandblasted and powder coated and it looks great. I really dig the bull moose bars. I did the same thing with my roadie. I built up a Ridley Pegasus with SRAM Rival last February.- Two Wright & Mcgill Rick Clunn Casting Rods For $50
Mine was the same way. One huge triangular box, one cardboard tube. Luckily, mine shipped intact. If you want my medium rod, I'll be down to Calhoun/Cleveland over Christmas at my wife's parents. I'll give it to you for what I got it for.- Anyone Use A Plano 3707 Spinner/buzzbait Box?
I picked one up yesterday. Seems to be alright for the price. I like that all my boxes are the same 3700 size too. 26 Spinners and 13 buzzbaits is plenty of storage for me too.- Reel Grease/oil
I'll admit that I've not played around with enough greases and drags to be qualified to argue each brands kinds effectiveness. I've been using Reel Butter Grease and Oil and Lucas Oil Oil for a while now. No complaints with either product. Also, PSN81, I build my own bikes too. I posted some of their pictures the other day in this thread: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/127976-anyone-recognize-this-jig-who-makes-it/?hl=bike#entry1410299 Also, I do the 24 Hours of Booty at Butler every year. 24 Hour closed loop around campus. Loads of people! It's really fun and for a good cause. Every rider must raise $200 bucks for cancer research. Check it out and come ride!- What Is Your Pflueger President On?
Well, I've got 4 Pfluegers now so several rods! President XT 25 size on a 2 Piece 5'6" Light Ugly Stick. It's my creek fishing beater rod. Its the one piece of fishing equipment I'd get really upset over if it were to get lost or broken. I've had it 10 years and it's held up amazingly well. Trion 30 Size on a Daiwa Procyon 7 Med. Light. It's my wife's rod. She doesn't go out with me much, but the rod and reel look great together. President 30 Size on the Pure Fishing Pflueger Combo rod. 6'6" Medium. It's my dropshot rod. It looks great. Blue/silver on blue/silver. That rod, even though coming as a cheaper combo, is amazing. Great feeling and weight. Supreme 30 Size on a Fenwick Smallmouth. 6'9" Medium. It's a light/small crank rod for me. I fish small topwaters and weightless plastics on it too. I just got rid of a President XT and Supreme XT not too long ago. Both sized 35 I think. They were a bit too heavy and didn't balance well on the rods I had.- Anyone Use A Plano 3707 Spinner/buzzbait Box?
Awesome thanks!- Rage Tails For $1.99
Only a few colors though, boo. Best deal I found on baits all year was a weekend buy one get on sale at Dick's. I spent entirely too much. :X- Anyone Use A Plano 3707 Spinner/buzzbait Box?
I've started reorganizing my gear this winter. I have a truckload of 3700 and 3730 boxes and some 3780s. I've pretty much got all new 3701, the new slim box. I like them they hold enough gear and I can fit more boxes into the same space as the 3700/3730s. I'll be keeping my huge baits/line in the 3780s and my cranks in the 3730s still, but I'd like to find a better option for my spinners. I think the only option is the 3707 box. Anyone have any notes? Larger and smaller spinners/buzzbaits work? Will the bent Cavitron's fit? - Let's Talk Thermoclines And Turnover
