  1. Also a used Jon boat and trailer won't look pretty but they fish well. Cheap too. Trolling motors aren't that expensive.
  2. I have a mirage drive Hobie. I love it.
  3. Dirty Sanchez, honey doo doo, donkey punch, main vein Yeah. Reaction Innovation is dirty.
  4. I have tin boats because I like them. I own a SeaArk (fantastic warranty) and absolutely love it. I've also got a Grumman that I'll be selling at some point. I love it too. It's just small.
  5. Yes. I slit the straw lengthwise after having cut the straw in 1/4 inch sections. Put one on the worm, hook through the middle of worm and middle section of the straw. I do it so that the straw is nearest the barb. Don't seem to lose as many Senkos this way.
  6. Presidents are top notch. I like the discontinued XTs best. Find them on eBay.
  7. I use clear straws.
  8. I start out with about 6 foot leaders. I don't like retying them often. Alberto Knot is the knot you need to know. Use Fluoro for everything other than topwaters. Use Mono for that. I use 50LB PowerPro cause it's diameter is similar to 12lb mono.
  9. Good to know! Do you know when they quit making everything there?
  10. Rapala Shad Raps and Jointed Shad raps in Shad and blue/silver, black/silver, gold/silver. Berkley Flickr Shad. They have some amazing colors!
  11. This brings the same question I've had for a while, I've got a Garmin 200C and 500C on my small boat and big boat respectively. Plus a small sonar hummingbird on the TM. I've been looking for something to replace them. What's the best unit all around for $500 or less. I could probably stretch more, but I'm going to have to buy extra transducers to switch them between boats. I've looked hardest at the Lowrance Elite 5X HDI. I'd like having both down scan and sonar, but quality and size of screen and quality of information are paramount for me.
  12. The new Abus aren't made the same. I'm not sure their even all made in Sweden anymore. To the original question, they are still baitcasters. They will cast the same just not feel the same. I don't know why you'd use a round BC unless you were throwing really heavy baits routinely.
  13. Braid with equivalent diameter leader material. I use mono for cranks/topwater. FC for stuff that sinks. If you only have a few setups, buy a spool of braid put it on both, learn to tie an alberto knot, buy a spool of mono and a spool of FC to use a leader material. You'll be set for years. My spinning setups generally have all mono or all FC on them.
  14. http://www.basspro.com/Western-Filament-Tuf-Line-XP-300-Yards/product/44281/ Their 6lb test is smaller than most 2lb mono.
  15. I use XD 50 too in my 90' 30 HP Evinrude and my 02' 115 HPJohnson. No complaints. I actually get the small bottles that treat 6 gallons at a time. I never use more than that in a trip. It's just convenient for the small motor and big boat. Two days 12 gallons at the pump and 2 bottles (3.29 at wally world). One day in small boat gets 2 gallons and 5 oz.
  16. My dropshot setup is a 6'6" ML with 8 LB fluoro. 35 size Pflueger spinning reel. I almost always use 1/0 or size 1 Gammy dropshot/octopus hooks. Roboworms/Z-drops/meatheads. I feel the nibble and just slightly pull up and to the side. Usually fish is hooked. I don't jerk. Just slow deliberate hookset.
  17. That looks like a boat that will sell well up north. It does look plain though. I'll keep fishing out of my Grumman and Seaark tho
  18. +1 on the Abu Ambassadeur. I'd pick anything in the 5000 range. If you don't hate used, I'd get a Calcutta.
  19. That video reminds me of working on cars with my dad. He invented new strings of curses when something broke or went wrong. Hah. "F- me naked" was a favorite of mine.
  20. I don't use them much on jigs, but on blade baits and chatterbaits I sometimes will put a pretty heavy/large worm on. Rip it up and drop.
  21. I did fish it shallow, but the fish that were shallow weren't really biting. I tried throwing it into schooling shad. There just weren't as many schools as there were last week. Fish are still deep on my lake. I'm going to Musky waters tomorrow, so, I may or may not land some bass. I'd like to throw it more, but where I'm going tomorrow it likely would get hung up loads. I still think the rig would fish well with a fluke or any square/shallow crank. I'll just have to give it another go.

Yup. That was this year. I could've smacked the dam from where I caught him. I caught 4 that day all over 3 lb.
  23. Camarillo, CA as per their website!
