Is it worth investigating getting them relocated? I don't kill it if I'm not going to eat it, but that's me. Another solution, if you want them gone that badly, is a nuisance permit. An old GF's father owned a nursery where deer that ate upwards of $50K worth of Arborvitae annually. We hunted his property year round. Good luck with them.

I've never fished blade baits before. There are a couple shallow ponds near me, no more than 6' deep, that are choked with weeds during Summer. What gear ratio/retrieve speed do you recommend for these waters? I'd rather fish than weed the garden, if you get my drift. Also don't want to waste my time. Thanks, in advance, for your comments.

Saturday's forecast is supposed to hit 50ish..... Dunno where I'll end up, but I plan on getting out somewhere, if just for a couple hours. After that, it'll be time to break out & sight in the shotgun for deer season (I already bought my season ski pass...).

One that feels good in your hand, with your reel mounted on it, of course.... I favor Abu Garcia Veritas, but might be tied against a Kistler I just bought from T*** W*** on sale. I'll have to fish the Kistler more next season.

Finished EMT continuing-ed class after work this morning. The weather was too nice to pass up a late morning/early afternoon at Long Pond in Plymouth. I kept it light, a small in-line spinner, 1/8 oz jig head w/small craws/plastics, and a trout flavored Scatter Rap. Water temps were 52-54. Went most of the day without a nibble. Managed three dink LMB an hour or so before dusk. Luck gave me a 1-10 Rainbow while trolling the Scatter Rap on the way back to the boat ramp. Mr. trout tasted good for dinner. While I didn't catch much, I learned a lot about Long Pond and picked some spots to try next year when the bass come back.

I fish from a kayak. I use a Lowrance Elite 4X using a scupper transducer mount. It shows depth/structure/temperature. I'm a novice (read: not that good) basser, so that's all I need.​

There are some questions you need to ask yourself before you buy: What's your budget? What type of propulsion most interests you (pedal versus paddle)? How will you transport it (can you lift it onto its rack at the end of a day fishing?) I suggest you try to paddle before you buy. You'll get great feedback from members here. I own an Ascend 128T and FeelFree 11.5. Both are SOTs. Their both stable enough to stand and fish on, have all-day comfortable seats. The FeelFree's seat elevates and the 128T's swivels. Best of luck choosing a kayak.

I have a 7' M/F casting Silver Hawk. It's light and has a superb fit & finish. It's not as sensitive as my ***, Kistler, or Abu Villain, but it's not terribly far off either. As an 'every day' rod it's great, especially at Cabela's current price.

You're likely going to get a quick increase if the purchase succeeds, but I wouldn't expect anything drastic. Both are older, established retail chains. It might be worth throwing some cash at, but I wouldn't stake a college fund on it or anything. ​

I bought a Spiderwire backpack a few years ago. It holds 4-5 3400s, has lots of pockets, holding straps and two rod holders. I use is shore and kayak fishing. It's held up great.

If I had to pare it down to just two rods, it'd be a MH/F (1/4 - 1 oz) and a ML/F, spinning or bait casting, depending on my mood and wind conditions. I carry 3 rods in my Lure 11.5, 2 MH or M, and a ML/F.

My favorite is my 6' 9" MH/F Veritas with a 7.3:1 *** sitting on it. Light, sensitive, and casts like a dream. I like Veritas rods enough that I have 3 flavors: 6'6" M/F 2-piece, the above mentioned, and a 7' M/M.

Launched at Great Herring Pond @ sunrise this morning. It was overcast and windy. Following Fishing Rhino's advice, I started at the channel left of the boat ramp. Bagged a 2-10 Larry in short order on a Rapala Shadow Rap. Worked (drifted, really, my anchor wasn't big enough to overcome the wind) over to the little bay hidden by a large point. Caught another Larry, two Smallies, and a Pickerel. The second LMB and one Smallie ate a 5" gourd-green T-rigged worm. Smallie #2 and the pickerel attacked a jointed Smallie flavored Shad-Rap. I played with a brown/craw jig and a couple different Senko rigs but nobody took. None of the last fish were bigger than two pounds, but two weeks before Thanksgiving, I'm calling it a win. It took me about an hour to paddle back to the launch because of a pretty stiff headwind. Thanks for the tips on this pond Tom, if this is my last trip for the year, a good way to finish up. ADD: Forgot to mention that water temps were 57-58.

I'm just south of Boston, consider it a plan. Don't give up on this season yet. I'd been bass-less since the end of September (though a nice trout and a few big pickerel came my way) until today. I bagged a 3-10 and 1–1 today on a 4" Senko @ Ponkapog Pond in Canton. Water temps were 56-ish.

I have a Diawa Ardito travel rod. There is a gap between pieces which is part of the design, according to Diawa's literature. Perhaps a similar design?
