Got home from work and the family had gone to Cape Cod for the day. Loaded the truck and went back to Whitman's pond again around supper time. Stayed until dark and explored the southern section. Came up empty even though my Lowrance told me they were there. Senko's, cranks, and spinner baits produced nothing but casting practice. One other guy was there and said he'd struck out tonight too. It's only my second time there, so I'll keep at it as much as I can. If I find myself awake early enough tomorrow morning, I'll hit Little Pond in Plymouth - I've had better luck there.

Don't carry often simply because Massachusetts' gun laws are so vaguely written it's not always worth it. There's also not much of a need in my line of work. When I do it's either a Sig 229 or 238, depending on what I'm wearing and what I'm doing.

A Pflueger President with a 7' M or MH rod with fast action of your choice that fits your budget. I have three Presidents on different rods and find they're more than worth the money - easy to cast & really smooth. Best of luck with your choice.

Got over to Whitman's Pond in Weymouth for the first time. Caught one little bass and spent most of the time exploring the place. Lots of weeds, with depths ranging from a couple of feet to 22/23 in the channel area. The boat ramp is nicely kept. One old timer I talked to on the way back to the ramp had just caught what he called "a nickel" on a chartreuse spinner bait. Lucky for me, I'd brought only soft baits and a few Rapalas...

I'm in the same boat (pun intended). I just started kayak fishing this year too and so far set the hook sideway based on what side of my 'yak the fish is on. Haven't caught anything challenging yet, but it'll come. Good luck with your new kayak.

I work two jobs, so I fish when I can. I generally get out for two to three hours at a whack without a hitch (unless I get called back to work, which happens). I'd have to say that I could go sun up to sundown as long as I brought sandwiches and drinks, but I've not had a day with nothing to do that I can remember, so I'll chalk it up on the "TO DO" list.

I fish my gourd-green Zoom U-tail worm like this and have great success. More so than if I hop it along the bottom.

We have our annual lechon (pig-roast) on July 3rd, along with the neighborhood bonfire and Weymouth (town across the bay) fireworks so with that covered, it's off to my day shift at the FD on the 4th. I'll get home from work and the family will be back, finishing off yesterday's leftovers.

Just about all Blues from the beginning of time and Rock from the latter 60's through the mid '80s with a few newer bands thrown in: Allman Brothers to Zeppelin.

Got out to Little Pond in Plymouth @ 0500. Caught 2 OK LMB & 2 little ones straight away with a T-Rigged Zoom. Once the sun really came up had only panfish nipping the tails off my worms. Tried Senko & deep crank for a bit without success. I think I'm going to burn a lot of gas this Summer. Had appointments to keep so I bailed @ 0900...

I'd have to say yes, simply on the idea that I only had one fishing rod growing up. I now have many because I'm older, make good money, and spend too much time reading this forum and 'have' to 'have' more and better equipment.... sure could be worse...

I have three PQ's and one JM. For me, they all cast the same distance. I find the JM a smoother, but really it's all up to preference. What might you buy with the extra cash in your pocket when choosing a PQ? An upgraded from what you were planning, a few bags of Senkos, a spool of high quality braid or fluoro? Best of luck with your choice - I don't think you'll go wrong either way.

I have a T3 ballistic I got from Tackle Warehouse for short money and can tell you it casts light-ish baits great and is smooth as silk. If your budget is up to it, the Zillions might be the way to go, IMO. Best of luck, and I doubt you'll be disappointed with whatever you pick.

I have an Ascend 128T and FeelFree Lure 11.5. Even though it's made in the US, the 128T's fit-finish is good, but not excellent, but it's price reflects it. The FeelFree is very well put together and reflects very well in it's price. The hatch and 'glove box' covers are solid and hardware used is very good. For overall fishing experience, they both have very comfortable seats and are stable enough to stand in, with a little practice. The FeelFree's bottom accepts scupper mounted fish finders very easily. I had to customize my 128T to get a transducer mounted nicely (was pretty easy, using a 3.5" toilet flange and rubber cover from Home-D). Best of luck with your choice. With my experience with these two kayaks, there's no BAD fishing kayak.

I use Lowrance Elite 4X for my kayaks: they were cheap at BPS and work very well. I used a scupper mount kit in my FeelFree Lure 11.5 and customized my Ascend 128T's mount using a 3" toilet flange & rubber boot cover. Both work great. I bought 12 amp/hour batteries at my local electronics supply store for about $25 and charge it with my bike's Battery Tender. I've been out half a dozen times this year for two to three hours each outing and haven't had to charge my battery yet this season. The battery and Lowrance head go in the same Pelican case so they're always protected. It's easy as pie to install using a waterproof disconnect. Best of luck with your fish finder.

Got back to Little Pond in Plymouth yesterday after work. I caught a decent Rainbow Trout with a 4" Watermelon/Red flake Senko (A first), one small LMB, and lost something that was big & ticked off because of knot failure. I have to say the trout didn't fight at all like a bass, I was't sure what I had until I got it close to my kayak.
