I launch from the town launch off Jacobs lane.

Fished Jacob’s Pond in Norwell for a couple hours yesterday. There were roughly a dozen people fishing from shore or kayak/canoe/jon boat. It was windy from the south. Water temps were 52.x, and air pressure was 30.2. I caught 2 dink pickerels, both on a shallow silver Shadow Rap Shad. I threw a couple different Keitechs, a Ned, and a 5.5” swim Senko. Something bit the tail off the Senko, but nothing else happened. Jacobs is shallow, no more than 5’ at it’s deepest. I pulled up a lot of weeds, including some new, bright green growth. I fished Hinckley’s while the herring were there the last couple years. I threw a variety of baits, some matching herring and some bright colors. I zeroed every time.

Add: weight/transport storage warranty I have two FeelFree Lure 11.5's, a 2015 and 2018 (Overdrive). Their not made in the US, but their build quality is top notch, and customer service is better than that. My Overdrive Lure's had some teething problems, but a phone call or email to FeelFree customer service gets a fast reply and results. The three things I like best about my Lures are 1.) the SEAT, 2.) stability, and 3.) the keel mounted wheel (for transport). Most importantly, try to paddle/pedal, or at least sit in as many models as you can. Don't go bananas all at once buying stuff to rig it up. Start with a good, sturdy paddle and a comfortable PDF. The long list of fish finder, anchor, anchor trolley, rail accessories, et al, will work itself out the more trips you take. Best of luck with your kayak!

if you stick to lower frequencies (83/200) and make sure you've not zoomed in (use the (-) button for out and (+) for in) you'll be OK. Consider a second mounting kit with and transfer the head between your boat and kayak. I have a second kit and trolling motor so I have a fish finder when I rent boats at the Quabbin Reservoir out here.

They're right. I use a Lowrance Hook5 and mounted my transducer with Lowrance's scupper mount. It's just above the bottom of the kayak so it reads fine and is safe from 99% of what's out there.

I've only kept records since 2015, so I'd say I fish two or three times a week, if possible, and average two or three bass per trip. This doesn't count winter months, when I go when I can. To answer your question: NOT ENOUGH.

Good to see you posting again Br1an! Alone, on my kayak, in the middle of a pond... that's what I call social distancing. I got this email today from MA Division of Marine Fisheries, "DMF has become aware of rumors and a fabricated Facebook post, appearing to come from DMF, that state commercial and recreational fishing have been closed due to the Covid-19 public emergency. This is not true! Commercial and recreational fishing remain open in Massachusetts. All official updates are posted via this email service, our website, and our verified Facebook page." And on the subject of social distancing, today's forecast said Great South, in Plymouth. After housework, et al, I dropped into Little South around noon. The weather called for winds around 10 mph. Great South felt like 15 - 20 mph. After 3 hours of fighting the wind and watching white caps come over my bow, I called it quits and moved on. Water temps were 46.x. The highlight at Great South was the bald eagle that cruised over me. I drove to Hedges in hopes of salvaging the day. I hit the water at 3:45 and stayed until dusk. The 10 mph winds were realistic here so off to the wind blown shoreline went I, which happened to be the NW corner. I grabbed a 1.91 pound SMB on a 3.8" Keitech FAT Impact on an underspin in 8-10' of water. This fish had good fight and came out of the water a couple times. I moved around the NW shore, tossing a brown/purple tube, jerk bait, and Ike Demon DT6. Nothing bit so I switched the tube to a black Zoom U-Tail and nabbed a 3/4 yellow perch and a 2.02 SMB. I lost a two good SMB as well. The first spit a gold/yellow BX Brat and the second didn't like black U-Tails. Water temps were 49.x - 50.x, and air pressure was 29.8. All fish/bites were in 8' or less. Great South (GS) and Hedges both did what they always do to me. I know GS will warm up, and is a good lake, WHEN you find them. Hedges is a consistent performer and rarely disappoints. Good luck to everyone else in their 'social distancing'.

Looks like Mr. Aquarium STRIKES AGAIN!

I practiced some distant socialization this afternoon at Ponkapog. It was mostly cloudy, around 50 degrees, and a light wind blew from the northwest. Water temps were 46.x and the air pressure was 30.1. Starting along the northern shore, I worked a Yozuri square bill, Rapala shad rap, T-rigged swim Senko, and Zoom U-tale. Nothing happened for a while, so I paddled down to the shallow area by the golf course. Along the way I stopped and made a few casts with the square bill and grabbed a 2 pound pickerel in about 6' of water, in the middle of the pond. I worked the shallow flat for a bit but marked and caught nada, so I started along the southern/windblown shoreline back towards the launch. I switched to a clown colored Yozuri square bill and junebug U-tale. It was a good choice because I bagged three more pickerel, all over 2 pounds, in the last 45 minutes of my trip. Even though Ponkie's LMB still evade me, I'll take pickerel instead of a zero. Congrats to Dunks N Dinks for some nice Long Pond bass. We plan on being back on the Cape for a few days after tax season's over (boss-lady's an accountant), pending the current 'shut down' in MA.

If you plan on fishing in colder temps, get neoprene waders. I got lightweight waders first. They didn't work well in colder water temps.

If you have waders, Little and Big South in Plymouth have plenty of shoreline that'll reach drop offs. Little Pond, also in Plymouth, as well. It's a trout/LMB pond. Ponkapog, in Canton, also comes to mind. Again, waders are a big plus. Good luck, water temps are in the high 40's, fishing should be pretty good. Congrats on a 5.5 pound bass. That's great for anywhere in Massachusetts.

I took my first trip to Ponkapog for 2020 this afternoon. The weather was just too nice and I had paint drying. I launched around 3:00 and stayed until dusk, starting on the north shoreline and working west. An hour into it a 2 1/2 pound pickerel inhaled a Yozuri square bill around the rock/weed transition. Shortly there after another big pickerel followed a bass colored Live Target shallow crank right up to my kayak, looked me in the eyes and slowly turned off. Picture the movie Jaws when the shark looks right at Sheriff Brody, it was cooler than landing the first one. I switched between a couple treble hook baits and a green/red flake swim Senko until dusk. The kitchen was surely closed, so I packed it in and went home to finish painting my daughter's furniture. Water temps were 49.x and air pressure was 30.5. Winds were scant until around 6:00 when they picked up pretty good from the southeast, bringing the clouds with them.

I finished my Cape trip at Goose and Hinckeys ponds. I did well at Goose, with 6 LMB to the kayak. 5 of 6 were 2+ pounds. All took a purple/brown tube off the bottom. Water temps were 46.x, winds were southerly around 10mph, and air pressure was 30.4. I struck out at Hinckleys, throwing the kitchen sink in the water, but the kitchen was closed. My Lowrance screen was full along the S/E - E shore, especially in the 12-16’ range. It was dead calm just before dusk when I saw two surface breaks, so naturally I tossed a perch popper and Whopper Plopper for a few to try to get a reaction bite. Nobody took. Water temps were high 47.x. Overall a good week of fishing. Thanks again to saltysmalljaws for sharing his time & knowledge of his home waters. It was nice to fish with another BR member.

Ponkapog in Canton is my 'home' pond. I fish Plymouth and Cape Cod as much as I can. There's great smallmouth fishing down there.
