  1. East Texas! I live 2 hours from Sam Rayburn, 45 minutes from Lake Fork, 15 minutes from Palestine, 2.5 hours from Toledo Bend, and have several smaller lakes that produce nice bass all within an hour. Theres plenty of jobs for qualified people. You gonna pay Uncle Sam anywhere you live. Schools are bettter in some places than others. Hope ya dont mind the heat, cause it gets HOT!!!
  2. Classic example- The other day I went fishing at noon, fished all day and only one bite, just before I start to pack up to go... bam. nice little 2#er. This starts the obsession, and a few minutes later Bam! a nice sized spotted bass... few minutes later Bam! itty bitty little tiny thing not much bigger than the lure, but its in the boat! Couple of casts later I'm draggin in a fat ole girl about to pop with eggs ( OK, she was only about 4#'s but it was fun), I call that an AWESOME day fishing! I aint no pro so ANYTHING is better than a SKUNK!
  3. Neither are true or false! You hit a big fish in the head with a crappie jig, you just might catch one.
  4. Caught my PB today 6lb 8oz.
  5. Unfortunately, the water authority has killed off most of the vegetation at several of the lakes (impoundments) around here, so, most of the cover has to be docks or brush that has been sunk. I have trolled most of the structures and way-pointed the meager natural brush piles I find. Although I do have a couple lakes that have lots of vegetation but its a long drive to those.
  6. From what I've learned, The high yellow bass are from the deep and the ones that are really green and dark black lateral line have been in the shallows for a long period of time. Is it the truth? It make sense to me...
  7. I only use them for my shakey head and not to often either. really soft and tear off easily.
  8. absolutely hate the hollow bodied swim baits. Have yet to find anything useful for them except for the A-rig
  9. I can cast with both hands (prefer right, but at times I need use a left hand cast), All reels are right hand retrieve, including open face.
  10. If you aint going to buy it, send me the sellers info.... Id buy it in a heart beat!
  11. ya only get three different speeds 6.4, 7.1, or 8.0- I use a 6.4 for all my worm and jig set ups
  12. Smithwick suspending rogues ...
  13. usually first day of February I go through EVERYTHING, inventory what I have and see what I need to replace (Plano boxes, soft plastics bags ect...) Managing tackle is a royal pain in the rumpas, especially when I'm always buying and losing lures, worms, or the latest and greatest thingamajigger... and having to keep up with the twins tackle boxes also... make a man lose all his hair real quick.
  14. Thats a big investment for getting a dust collector. Just like when I go deer hunting, if it doesnt score in an unbelievable number I aint wasting 500 bucks! big picture in a nice frame is good enough for me.
  15. That moment just before I start to put the fish back in the waters. The "this is what its all about" moment.
  16. Wind is your friend when it comes to Bass fishing... Stop fighting it and hiding from it. Strong wind creates currents in the water that push around bait fish. The bass know this and are using it to their advantage, so should you. Light wind disrupts the fishes ability to see you. Its better to have wind than not have wind especially in clear or shallow waters.
  17. That period of time from when the boat leaves the water till it goes back into the water!
  18. Sleep? Whats that? I'll get all of that I need when I'm dead.
  19. I hate it when big boats come ripping past me within 50 yards, but the a=holes are everywhere and very few of those have enough respect for themselves let alone other people. I make it a point to give enough space and slow enough to not disturb someone while they fish. Hole jumping is rude and I'll say something to anyone who encroaches my space.
  20. Charlie's worms, high floating, black, junebug, watermelon red, green pumpkin. Stike king super finesse (and they are a royal pain to get on) super strong, really stretchy. Robo worms finesse. Havoc bottom hoppers. Just to name a few.
  21. I have it on the a-rig, but haven't caught anything on it yet, will get back to this weekend.
  22. Fish more, work less. Win more tournaments, stop losing so many so many lures. And understand the bass in the lakes I fish better.
  23. Good food supply, shelter, and not to overpopulated with blue gills and other predator fish that eat bass fry. also, depends on what kind of lake it is... reservoir, natural... how old the lake is... what kind of pressures do the fish have.... Lots of factors go into making a great lake. Deep and large is not always a good thing...
  24. I bought into the time share, not a bad deal in my opinion. Get to go to table rock lake and the lodge is really nice. I'm going again next weekend and its only 240 bucks for all of us (me ,wife, and three kids) on the lake... its about a 10 hour drive and we always have fun. So i just tell em that I already have one and go about my business.
  25. My Abu Garcia ProMaxII combo- Got it on Amazon for 99.00. its my goto Shakey head set up- flawless for its job. I have a couple cheepies (Shakespeare) that I wonder why I hang on to...
