  1. thanks. anyone know if belmont bay or someplace else in the area would be good?
  2. Anyone fish here? I hear it's good water for canoes and kayaks, but is the regional park the only place I can put it? If so, It looks like I'll be fishing big water unless I make a long run up the bay. Are there a ton of lilly pads and shallow water/good for buzzbaits and frogs in the mornin/what kind of fishing would I be doing here? Any info would be helpful. I'm just going there to take a friend fishing (his first time) since he lives close to that area and probably won't go back for another year if that.
  3. ...i took off the prop and found some fishing line stuck behind it. i took the line out and tried the motor again. it was working but barely and then it just shut off after 10 seconds. Now it won't work at all. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know how to fix it?
  4. are thos spots on the VA potomac side? Just curious...I have a friend who lives in woodbridge, va and i might make the trip to belmont or pohick bay to fish with him out of my 2 person kayak. i've heard pohick bay is good for small boats. is there potomac bay or tributary on the va side that u would recommend...if u don't mind me asking?
  5. I've only thrown these toads once for a few minutes and stopped after they kept running upside down. does this matter for you? and what's you hook up ration for these?
  6. i don't think you can rent boats in mattawoman.
  7. i also caught this catfish casting a spinnerbait
  8. Whites Ferry, 230-9 pm, drift down va side of harrison island then back up to ramp on md side of river, ~15 caught (~20 lost) on tube, spinnerbait, popper, tiny swimbait, 4 in worm. Together me and my friend caught 5 while trolling spinnerbaits. i just figured i might as well drag mine behind the kayak while we moved from spot to spot (i've done this a few times before with no luck) and i caught this one first:
  9. nvm. i missed the 40 miles part.
  10. That's what I'm talkin about, good largemouth fishing but in the middle of nowhere and out in the wilderness. i wish i had a lake like that close to my house. how big's the lake?
  11. a 14' ocean kayak ambush. a boater that was leaving while we were launchin said it was as deep as 10 feet that day. i didn't have a depthfinder with me, but on the opposite side of the shore from edwards ferry it was probably about 7 feet deep just 30 feet from shore. i don't know how clear the water normally is on the upper potomac but half the time we were fishing we couldn't see the bottom. we would see parts of the bottom as far as 4 feet down
  12. 7/12/08 boat ramp: edwards ferry caught fish on: 4 in. senkos and gitzit time: 5-9 pm I usually just fish for largemouth but me and my friend decided to hit the upper potomac for the first time in search of smallmouths. I was expecting the water to be real shallow but there weren't any huge boulders sticking up out of the water like i'd seen in photos. I also planned on floating down the river but instead a heavey wind from the east took us up river. I expected more boats/canoes and kayaks, but we only saw two. I also expected the bass to be small, and they were. We only caught 7 with the biggest about 13 inches. Still a lot of fun, and I plan on going back, but maybe launching from further up. Anyon else fish this part of the river? Here's the biggest one:

  14. I'm trying to learn the potomac out of a 2 person kayak right now. just curious, what bay were u in and what part of the tide were u fishing if you don't mind?
  15. i might be able to borrow someone's boat, but I don't have wiring for my trailer hitch. Should I just go to uhaul and get general wiring done for my car? I know next to nothing about this stuff so any suggestions would be great.
  16. I'm thinking about tying up my kayak at Rocky Gorge this summer because it's 30 min closer to me than the lock, it doesn't seem like there would be as much boat traffic, and my kayak is big and heavy and a pain to load on and off the car. So, if anyone fishes there: Has the fishing been good? Are the stake tie-ups really safe? Where can I get a good map of the lake?
  17. I'm just curious to see what you guys think, and I might give a speech that's meant to be funny on the topic
  18. I've heard a few times on here that the watermelon/black flake color is the best for senkos. Well I guess the pros figured that out too. Todd Faircloth won at Amistad using a that color last weekend according to another site *.
  19. That's worded strange. Sounds like you can't use more than one rod. Or you can't use a 3 way swivel type rig. :-/ Or you can use two rods with single hooked baits or one with more than one. :-/ Yea that is worded strange, and could be taken to mean a lot of different things, but 1. how many people, especially college students like myself, will take the time to read every little detail of a fishing regs book? 2. even if it is an actual fishing rule, i shouldn't have to go to court for something like that.
  20. So I was fishing after class today at ithaca falls in NY. I was using an inline spinner. An officer was checking fishing licences. He checked mine then asked to see what lure I was using. I gave it to him, and he told me I can't use hooks with more than one point on them (inline spinners have treble hooks). So he asks me a few questions, takes my treble hook and writes me a ticket, and tells me I have to show up in court april 30. He also said if i don't show, there will be a warrant out for my arrest. I don't understand? this ridiculous!! apparently there is a 1/4 mile stretch out of the whole entire creek where this rule is in effect, but I can't find anything about it in the fishing regs book!! So now i have to miss class in order to go to court for fishing with a treble hook!!!
  21. I have both the the quantum accurist http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp;jsessionid=N52P4XMTL1QBVLAQBBJSCNNMCAEFIIWE?id=0051871119562a&type=product&cmCat=froogle&cm_ven=data_feed&cm_cat=froogle&cm_pla=0280202&cm_ite=0051871119562a&_requestid=108168 and the daiwa procaster. both are pretty nice for the price but i would really recommend the accurist, especially since it's on sale. also check out the daiwa megaforce. I feel that it's a little bulky for me but is still really smooth
  22. Does anyone know where I can find small trailer hooks. The smallest I've found is 1/0
  23. anyone know where i can find/download fishing songs like the bill dance, roland martin and hank parker themes?
  24. Pros are always talking about catching fish deep on creek channels and roadbeds and channel swings etc. What exactly are these? Does anyone know where I can find a picture of examples of these?
  25. Hi. I'm in the fishing club at Cornell University. This competitive college fishing sounds fun, but none of us here has a real bass boat. Anyway Icould get a boat company to sponsor us or something? I'm trying to figure out how we could get a boat to compete with. thanx
