chatterbaits suck
It seems to me that CB's can work GREAT around grass in dirtier water. If you look at some of the elite series tournaments, a lot of guys in the top 12 catch em on CB's. I know Rick morris did well on the potomac last year and some other pros have done well down south with them.

6/03/07--Three Chatterbait Bass
lightninrod, how are you fishing the chatterbait?? I was on the Potomac River yesterday and saw a guy killin 'em on chatterbaits. I just picked up a white/chartreus boogee bait today. Can you help me out on how to fish them?

Burning a palm tree and fish farting.
yea i've caught a few swimming a white tube or white/black tube. I think it looks like a shad or an injured one if you jerk it fast and let it fall. I don't think you can fish a tube wrong

quick changers
I picked up some little things you tie your line to that allow you to change lures or hooks without retying. i figured they'd be good for crankbaits. Anyone use them?

Why they call them "bluegill"
I think that's a pumpkinseed

LILLY PADS
last summer was my first summer bass fishing, and i got most of my stirkes on a hollow body scumfrog but only about 1/3 of those strikes resulted in a caught fish. i thought it was amazing how i could reel in the frog over some pads and a bass will still eat it even though the pads are extremely thick.

jigs in water that doesn't have crawfish
I'm not sure if there are crawfish anywhere here in MD,but I was just reading a bassmasters article that was all about jigs. This article covered everything about jigs but really focused on jigs in terms of and in relation to crawfish. So I want to know do you guys use jigs in water that doesn't have any crawfish?

Help with depthfinder
I used the new kayak and portable depthfinder yesterday. No fish :'(. I'm not too sure how to use a depthfinder. I put the transducer at the front of the boat barely underwater. does anyone ever use the fish ID or fishtrack? i used it for a little while then switched back to the regular arches. I never actually saw a real arch. they were more like slightly curved lines. Can anyone give me some tips and suggestions for using a dpethfinder, particularly a portable one, that aren't included in the directions?

Fishing Colleges or Carreers?
I attend Cornell University, and we have a biological field station right on Oneida Lake north of Syracuse. Scientists from Cornell and other universities have used this station to study growht and movement of smallmouths, hooking mortality evaluations on large and and smallmouth, and spawning and nursery habits of bass. These are just some of the publications that have come out of the station in recent years and i'm pretty sure these guys get to handle a lotta fish and are out on the water daily. Hopefully i'll be able to get an internship there one summer and do some fishin while im not workin

Trilene Maxx
i was using a baitcaster. i've only been fishing for about 10 months now and the only other line i've used is the kind that bps will will put on ur reel for u. i guess the memory was normal. again i don't have enough experience to have any complaints with it, but i did notice that it is a little stiffer than the mono i previously had on my baitcaster.

Trilene Maxx
that was me that posted about it and didn't get a response. well i bought it in 12 lb lo vis green and used it a few times. i caught a decent bass at dusk on a black spinnerbait with the line. i'm not experienced in fishing enough to critique it but i know it got two horrible reviews on bps online.

Oakley Polarized sunglasses?
i bought the half jacket xlj's in the fall for $70 off ebay and i don't have any complaints. i have the fire colored lenses and they work well. i actually stepped on my glasses when i was out fishin in december. the lenses fell out, but i put 'em back easily and the glasses were as good as when i bought em.

only 3 rod/reel combos-wat line for all situations
I'm looking at having just 3 rod/reel combos this spring. i just bought my other baitcaster (blue accurist 2), and i have a cheap quantum spinning combo and a daiwa procaster with a flippin stick. haven't got the rod for the new baitcaster yet, but what line should i use on each of these reels in order to cover as many situations as i can???? right now i have 10lb and 12 lb mono on the spinning and procaster respectively, and i'm thinking about 17 lb mono on the accurist. i'll hopefully be fishing a variety of lake types.

whats the diff between casting and trigger rods
This casting rod has a short handle: http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=44303&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=2&hvarSubCode=6&hvarTarget=browse while this trigger rod has a long one: http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=44304&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=2&hvarSubCode=6&hvarTarget=browse I have a trigger rod for my baitcaster, and i never notice the difference in the handles that i see the pros on tv. so, what would make you choose one type of rod over the other, and/or what situations are each used for?

electric or gas
I'm planning on getting a bass boat within the next few years but i have a problem. I live within an hour from the main potomac river launch site, and i also might use the boat while at my school right at Cayuga Lake in NY. I would think that only normal gas outboards would work for these big waters, and most used boats i've been looking at come with gas outboards. but there are also 5 great electric only reservoirs closer to my house than the potomac that i want to fish also, so i would need all electric motors, and with just electric motors i won't have to worry about paying for gas. So what should i do? I was thinking that with maybe a big fast electric motor (if there is one) i could fish all these waters with the boat. Any suggestions

Which quantum reel to buy (don't have energy orPT$
I don't have the money for a Quantum PT so I'm thinking about getting the Quantum Kevin VanDam Signature Series Baitcast Reel or the Quantum Accurist Gold Baitcast Reel. They are both $80 right now online at BPS, but the signature series is is on sale from being regularly $100. I would think i should get the signature series because it originally costs more, but I just wanted to see what you guys think. http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=58414&hvarDept=100&hvarClassCode=1&hvarSubCode=1&hvarTarget=browse&cmid=PP_P0_1&cmCat=CROSSSELL http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=58411&hvarDept=100&hvarClassCode=1&hvarSubCode=1&hvarTarget=browse&cmid=PP_P0_1&cmCat=CROSSSELL

check it out (world record grizzly)
Ive never been hunting before, but I shoot sporting clays. I see the fun in shooting and hunting for turkey or deer cuz u can eat em, but hunting for lions and tigers and bears is pretty disrespectful IMO. i would get no enjoyment out of killing a bear.
