I live in Colorado, the average bass I catch weighs 1 - 2 pounds.

Squarebills work great in the fall. I would say the bomber square A is my favorite.

I use a skitterpop, and usually alternate between a pop - pause - pop - pause and walking in the retrieve. Often they want a predominance of one or the other. You just have to figure out my starting with both usually.

I have three crankin' sticks and love them all. The 7' M, 7 MH', and 7'11" MH.

I use 15 pound original power pro in green.

Generally I fish it as is.

The husky jerk is pretty light for a jerkbait, I throw all of them except the 12 and 14 on spinning gear. For my lighter jerkbaits I like a 7' M spinning rod, and heavier a 7 mh casting rod. With jerkbaits I prefer fairly stiff graphite to get the lure dancing really well. A crankbait rod isn't great IMO for them.

I like poppers when I don't have to cover a large area of water or when bass are first hitting topwater for the year. Buzzbaits are best for me in lower light conditions or covering lots of water, especially around emergent vegetation. I like a spook when I need to cover water and they aren't aggressive enough for a buzzbait, or when they are chasing baitfish or the buzzbait has already come up empty. A prop bait I generally use only when there is quite a bit of chop in the water.

In matted vegetation nothing works like a frog. A creature is great along grass edges or holes in matted vegetation. For some reason though, nothing gets strikes for me on the edges of mats like a jig.

I do use a trailer hook with them in open water, especially for smallies. I don't use a plastic trailer on my buzzbaits though. I suppose I should try it sometime though.

Carolina rig is more a search rig for deeper water in more open water type structure. The mojo rig is best when the bite is real tough and there is a lot of grass around, it's more of a spinning reel tactic.

Fantastic mojo rig and carolina rig bait, my go to for that. Especially good in the summer fished through grass when it's hot out and the bite is tough. Just a steady drag a few feet, then pause, and sometimes a couple short twitches.

It just started doing it, the reel is 3 years old. I have had very minimal problems with all my PQs and I've had them for four years. The only servicing I had on one reel before was due to operator error.

Maybe we can stop having stupid boat inspections and threatened closure of public lakes out here in the west if this works.

Does it have a quarantine now?

They have very good action. Just haven't caught much on them.

Topwaters hands down. I love pitching jigs and creatures too though. It's all fun though, though I would say drop shotting is my least favorite.

Oiled the ring on the magnetic break, palm side too. Going to see if that helps. Still plan on sending it in.

I oiled the centrifugal break drum. Helped a little bit but not totally. Going to send it in come sub 50 degree water. Break drum might need replaced.

I'll try oiling the outside of the brake.

My two year old pro qualifier is screeching while casting now. It's my buzzbait reel and thus has endured many a violent strike from pike and bass. First I tried a complete cleaning and re - lubing, including flushing the bearings. That didn't help at all. Then I tried changing the two spool bearings. That didn't help either. I'm going to have to send it in, but any ideas as to what could be the culprit?

I'd go with a Medium, fast or extra fast. If you plan to throw mostly 5" or bigger senkos MH is fine. My main senko setup is a MH spinning rod.
