Stupid Question?
that sound would bug the crap out of me cranks - fluoro spinnerbaits - braid weeds / flouro open water pitching rod - braid spinning rod 1 - fluoro for open water / rocky bottoms spinning rod 2 - braid for weedy / semi-weedy areas thats what i do, when doing that you wont have to deal with leaders and you may buy a micro guide rod

Treble Bait Question
Thats what people have been doing since the dawn of cranking, since the day cranks and mono were released everyone using them and manufacturing them have gained alot of knowledge. We now have fluorocarbon which replaces mono for cranking, the lures run deeper, there is slack line sensitivity and it is said to be less visable than mono. To make up for less stretch many cranking sticks now are graphite with moderate action, this setup paired with fluorocarbon is widely believed to be the best setup for cranks in modern times. Im no expert but this is what ive learned, someone please correct me if mistaken

Ok You Fished All Year Whats Your Future Plans?
Throughout winter im going to be replacing all of my rods with better quality rods, all of which will serve a different purpose. Will probably replace all my reels too Im going to direct tie alot more of my lures as i was always using snaps and snap swivels before, i think direct tying on tubes and cranks / lipless cranks will be much better Going yo try fluorocarbon on the new cranking rod and see how i like it Get more into pitching jigs for LMB

New Rod Lineup For Next Year
one thing I noticed, when trying to place an order for say a 6'8'' MXF avid spinning rod for TW it doesn't let give me the option to choose one or two piece rod, anyone know how I would make sure I am getting the 2 piece?

New Rod Lineup For Next Year
That is a solid idea... I will probably go avid for everything then since I know I like that blank. For spinnerbaits I may try something else like the Dobyns as I agree with the post you made about SB rods and their tips, this last year I used a fenwick I think with an XF tip and it was annoying to say the least. I will most likely give Tackle Warehouse a try for the rods I need, heck they have Lews reels too those BB-1 speed spools look awesome actually it was a medium /xfast I was using this year for sb

New Rod Lineup For Next Year
thanks for all of the input the issue I am having is the only stores I have local only carry one higher end manufacturer each. one carries st Croix, the other loomis and the other dobyns. I really like the st Croix avid rods and would use them for the majority of my techniques problem is the store just doesn't carry the models I want. They seem to carry generic 7'0'' Medium avids but they have the LTB series as well which all are clearly labeled as to what technique they are meant for. I may have to end up ordering some of the rods I want. The mojo is in there simply because I already own it, I really want the 6'8'' MXF Avid to replace it but I cannot find it anywhere locally... thoughts?

New Rod Lineup For Next Year
Since I am done fishing for the year excluding ice fishing, I am going to be completely upgrading my arsenal. I would like some opinions about the rods I have chosen, I have planned to setup five rods for next year to cover the techniques that I use. Casting: Small / Medium Crankbaits - Either the G Loomis GL2 7'0'' MED/MOD or the St Croix LTB "Small cranker" which is 7'2'' MED/MOD Spinnerbaits - Avid 7'0'' MH/XF or Dobyns SS733C Pitching Jigs - G Loomis GL2 7'5'' HEAVY/FAST Spinning: Weightless plastics, light tubes, light texas rigs - St Croix Mojo Bass 6'8'' MED/XF Plastics, tubes, grubs, texas rigs - St Croix Avid 7'0'' MED/FAST The decision for a lot of these rods is also based off what is available in my local area. Any suggestions are welcome, I think I will be trying 10 or 12 pound fluoro line on the cranking rod this year and see how that goes.

New Rod For Ice Fishing!
Hey all, Im really excited for ice fishing this year. Just got back from the store I purchased a 32'' medium St. Croix Premier ice rod, light pflueger president reel, some 8lb seaguar invisx and a couple new jigging raps. Opinions on this setup for pike / walleye? This will be my first ever experience with fluorocarbon line, we will see what happens, so far I am happy I can still use my clinch knot i use for braid and mono. So, anyone else stoked for ice fishing this year? Feel free to talk / post photos about your setups or even some catches you've made.

Need Help With New Tube / Soft Plastics Rod
im sure the avid with be much more sensitive and i hope better balanced than my mojo. I want to use the avid for tubes as i said and also i haven't even done any texas rigging with weights, also shakey heads i would like to try

Need Help With New Tube / Soft Plastics Rod
I currently own a 6'8'' medium/xf mojo bass "wacky style" rod so I think I will get the Avid 7'0'' medium/fast for use with stuff 1/4-5/8 and keep using the mojo bass rod for weightless and close to weightless stuff ie 1/8, it does load pretty well casting such weights even though its under its rating. is that smart or no lol Also, as kschultz76 suggested, I took a gander at the LTB rods and within that series the ideal rod would be the 7'1'' medium / fast, it is identical in specs to the Avid i am considering except it is just 1 inch shorter.

C&r Rant
its a public lake, in Canada not the us

Need Help With New Tube / Soft Plastics Rod
the only reason I asked is I noticed within their Mojo Bass line, their "tubes n grubs" rod is the 7'0'' M/F so I was just wondering if this would be the better setup for the application. will be making the purchase soon

Need Help With New Tube / Soft Plastics Rod
Didn't want to create a new thread for this but, which rod would be better for 1/4oz tubes, plastics St Croix avid 6'8" Medium / Extra fast or St Croix avid 7'0" Medium / Fast

Line For Spinnerbaits
since im just getting into using heavier jigs to pitch into cover, the spinnerbait was my go to lure for moderately thick cover. I think with braid and floro SBs do pretty well ripping through weeds without getting hungup
-
Braid Vs. Flouro
I will give 10lb floro a try, might have to wait until spring now though lol

C&r Rant
I go fishing probably 3-4 times a week on this lake, and over the past year I can honestly say ive seen him every single time ive been fishing except once that I recall. It seems like i pay a lot of attention to him but my dad calls him bonehead because apparently he has built quite a reputation on the lake for being, well a bonehead. so its kind of became a minor topic of conversation for us, every single time we were fishing we just hear his boat coming and one of us says theres bonehead. since we basically see this fellow 3-4 times a week, we've trolled past him, casted near him, etc. and also the lake is not that big. my neighbour also said he has noticed that he never releases anything, so i guess im not alone in noticing this
-
C&r Rant
yes it is extremely annoying to me as well, but I agree with everyone elses points and will not approach this individual. I just want to preserve my lake, maybe even get the walleye population back in order over a 5 year period or something. one can dream, right?

Braid Vs. Flouro
Im actually looking forward to hearing responses too... maybe i should do a search too ha ive using straight braid on everything except my cranking rod which has 14lb mono, and i fish in ultra clear water. am most likely going to do straight floro on my crank rod instead of mono, but with my spinning rods i use for tubes, plastics is straight braid and i think that rod may do better with braid and a floro leader. ah i still have so much to try in fishing lol
