  1. Looks great! You really cannot evaluate jig poofiness until you get it wet. Some of the boringest looking dry marabou jigs poof like crazy on the slow drop or lift
  2. I used leashes one time and hated them. Don't use anything now. After 1000s of hours, I've only dumped once and that was sheer stupidity....anchored in what I thought was a eddy, but swung into the current and the anchor was still abeam and grabbed hard...won't ever do that again. Fortunately I didn't lose any rods. My wife uses the foam floats on her spinning rods that strap on above the reel. She likes them, but I couldn't get used to the change in balance, nor the 'line slap'.
  3. My ex-wife had a Lhasa Apso that is the exception to prove that rule Do shad hate sunlight because they don't have eyelids?
  4. I don't have one. Oftentimes is certainly is good to know the 'why'....in this case, how might knowing better facts on the issue improve our fishing?
  5. I used a 7'11" HF for a while, but it was designed for flipping and it just wouldn't load up a c-rig very well. I got better distance out of a couple of my shorter rods. So....take that for whatever...sure would be nice to try it out before committing
  6. My dearly departed father and grandfather....

I wear a 'ball cap'..a few different ones....can't say I know the differences....one says Mojo Bass....one has a Green Bay 'G', another has Siebert 'SO'... I just call 'em ball caps
  8. 1/8 - 1/4 oz. Weighted EWG swim bait hook with an Owner Twist-Loc
  9. Rage Bug ....rage rigged...any water....any time of the year....followed closely by CutR....so versatile
  10. I complicate it a bit sometimes, but this works most of the time: Yo Zuri Hybrid on crank sticks. (8-12) Power Pro with leader on other baitcasters (20-50) Gliss with leader on spinning (18)
  11. Austin Kayak has free yak shipping....as long as you don't want any brands on my short list; Hobie, Bonafide or Wildy...(and even more.)
  12. @dgkasper58, I think what @NHBull was suggesting was that EVEN IF, you had access to good scientific data that told you exactly what a bass' eye's can interpret from its visible spectrum...even if you had that info....you still couldn't possibly know how a bass' brain interprets that light data. The interwebs are full of specious claims about what animals see, think, feel, etc. But, even a well executed experiment with line and light is only going to tell you how humans interpret the light/info.
  13. FFO is solid. Give ahead and call them about warranty on specific item before you buy, if you're concerned. You may well get same as new warranty. If a model I want is in their current inventory, new or reconditioned, I'd buy from them in a heartbeat.
  14. I have a 20 and it is a perfect size, imo. Very nice reel, but treat it well. A couple metal-looking parts are actually plastic. I've ordered parts and done simple repairs myself, but just would have been a little gentler had I realized the fragility earlier.
  15. That's a great resource. I've used it for a couple years now. I'm very much a page 1 only guy. Be careful at the second to last pic. Don't get oil down in that shaft hole...and don't ask how I know that.
  16. Agreed. It ain't over til the water is hard
  17. Ya know...it's funny ...when I first read your op, my reaction was...'oh yeah..those ugly red and yellow packages'...but as I thought about it, the coloring is perhaps, more distinctive than off-putting. As to the piranha...idk...is he old enough to be iconic?....if he stays, maybe a little softening is called for....slightly less...idk...mb less 'cartoonish'? But, I really don't know much about the brand or its image...nor market, I suppose
  18. Very cool.....are the fat red piranha's days numbered?
  19. Took the kayak out of Lake Ridge on Saturday....the 36 degree temps weren't much of a problem, but the wind was. Marked suspended fish from 8-17 in a few areas but couldn't coax a bite. Made my way across the lake where I thought I'd get in the lee, but there was no getting out of the wind -- came back across through whitecaps -- only stayed about three hours...had I gotten even one bite, I probably would have pushed it more
  20. If they're both 'like new', it sounds like a fair asking price. Some markets, its a little harder to sell LH reels, though, so don't be too surprised if you have to negotiate down a little.
  21. Been said many times above, but add me to the list of those more concerned about whether I can see the line, than about what a fish thinks. Even if the line-shy camp is right, I believe that my odds are better when I can see the line best.
  22. I need a copy of that rulebook. I wouldn't criticize anyone for following regs and fishing the way they want if it doesn't disrupt others.
  23. I have nothing to add that might be of assistance. But my hat is off to you, young man. I wish you the best of luck in this or other endeavors. I like the way you think
  24. Sensitivity effects from reel frame is an interesting concept. I don't palm reels as much as many, so haven't thought about that. I do have strong feelings about sensitivity transmitted via the reel handle. I feel that i sense many, many bites first in the fingers that are on my real handle....even on my most sensitive rods.
