Put the kayak in at BRM after work on Tuesday. Exactly one good bite on a shakey head that got off. Not so much as a dink in the boat. I went out around 6PM and didn't come off until close to 10. Sonar battery lasted all of about an hour....so that's my excuse for the day. And the Monday cold front...and the nearly full moon....That battery had been charged, but I knew that one had been going downhill in recent weeks...just didn't think it'd croak quite so fast. Well after dark, my headlamp battery died, as well. Backlash from hell in nothing but moonlight was enough to convince me I was done. Usually pretty hard to get me off the water if I haven't caught anything, but I'd have enough signs for one night. Been a long time that I couldn't at least coax a few dinks around BRM....just the rez reminding me to appreciate each one that I do catch out there...tomorrow's another day!

I've been known to take a 45 pound duffle bag stuffed with plano boxes on the boat...along with a backpack of plastics....in the kayak, I fill a milk crate with four 3700 boxes and a tackle bag.... But, to be perfectly honest, I'd bet that if I took every single thing that I've used this entire year...it could fit into one 3700 and a Bassmaster bag.

At the risk of over simplification.... -Mostly straight retrieve...little yo-yo-ing: Bill Lewis -1/2 oz plus - usually RES, but some Lucky Craft and 1-knockers -less than 1/2 oz - almost always Lucky Craft -- this is one category where I've found nothing close ....LVR-Mini and LV50 easily outfish any other small lipless that I've tried. (Although, I do have a very old tiny Cotton in a bleeding shad pattern that has some pretty impressive numbers of little smallies and bluegills to its credit.) -Floaters - Bill Lewis

I'm alternatively entertained and maddened....it's like watching the evening news....lots of folks arguing meaningless 'statistical estimates'....with no data and no sense of affecting variables

Didn't know enough to DIY it when I had this question five or six years ago. So, I got a Humminbird Fishin Buddy. Still works well. Six AA batteries will last three long days on the water....haven't tried rechargeables. I had to replace the battery holder assembly two years ago..maybe $15. Been a good investment.

And that about sums it up. Doesn't really matter how good it is. Few of us are ever going to consider using one.

Sounds like a Rogue...never had a 'suspending' Rogue that didn't float. While I don't think the Rattlin Rogue technically has a weight transfer system, they do cast pretty well despite...I also have an x-Rap that is supposed to suspend, but does a slow float in any temp water

Like many online news pieces, there's gold in the comments.... -Point about complaining to the press about the FOIA makes a bit of sense...will just bring out more lazy nuts to try the same -Just a touch of irony in wanting to be a social media/blogging/utubing darling, but then be outraged that someone takes issues with your not-so-secret secretiveness -I'd like to think that FOIA rules that make public records public...will also be able to keep private records private

this might be the right place to offer my experience...in the interest of balance.. A couple months ago, I snapped a relatively new Aetos - the old model from FFO. No question, the stick was high and it wouldn't have broke at that instant if I wasn't doing what I was doing. But, the light wire hook and 8# test led me to inquire about the warranty. It took a while and some of the comms were a little confusing....but I fully disclosed what I was doing when it broke -- Fenwick is sending a new Aetos (2.0?) at no cost to me, except for the 10 bucks or so that it cost me to send the busted one back. So, I'm satisfied with my warranty experience.

Good idea. Try to make a habit of it. I admit that I don't inspect my line often enough. And, if you're using a leader, just go ahead and replace that now. Even the best leader knots take quite a beating from dry wood.

Coin flip. Lowes and HD are across from the street from each other about 10 min from the house. So proximity is not a factor. I get the 10% military discount at both. Several years ago my impression was that you go to HD for service, Lowes for price. The price gap (if there ever was a real one) seems to have been closed. Unfortunately HD has managed to bring their service down to Lowes level, so ...coin flip. I am finishing up a MAJOR home flood repair (mostly contracted.) All three floors, all flooring, 2 of 3 ceilings, lots of drywall, etc. I'd estimate 40-50 separate purchases from HD and Lowes, combined. I will also estimate that upwards of 50% of those purchases were less than satisfactory. From missing parts, to broken material (hidden damage), to late shipments and inept CS. Lowes and HD have been equally disappointing.

I agree with @GrumpyOlPhartte. Thanks for the review. I'm a little surprised that they even tried to revive the brand. They've got a long uphill battle ahead of them. I sincerely hope their CS has been overhauled even better than their rods. I wish them well.

What data was used to make that WAG? jk, Catt. This is going to be tough to validate, but wouldn't surprise me at all. If true, it would prop up the OP's assertion, but perhaps deflate it a little, as well. I've mentioned before that I am heavily involved with statistics, but hate them with a passion. Your comment is a great example of why.

After reading about trimming legs, I tried it one. Held it nose-up and trimmed them even with the butt. I never noticed that it makes any difference to the fish, nor to walking. However, I do regret it because the shorter legs were too stiff and after pulling out of the tackle box, they are splayed out too much and don't flow behind like I think they ought to.
