-How many different visits? There are days on some water where you can not buy a bite. I had one of those days Friday. Two small lakes; two 'experienced' anglers; zero bass. Trust me, we did what Glenn suggests in the video.....and lots of other things -There's some good posts about bank fishing. Stealth can be important. -From techniques mentioned, it sounds like you were taught to fish for bass by the same guy that I was; fish 'em hard and fast. I still have trouble slowing down, but no question that it helps much of the times. (Once the bite turned back on Saturday, the best fish came from plastics that had come to rest for a few seconds on the bottom.)

I've got the same rod. And I love it. However, I still need a second rod for the crankbaits described in the OP. My mojo does NOT work well with Manns Minus 1's or LC SKT Mini. I currently use a Rage 7+MM, and even though that is working for me, I'm considering adding the Fenwick that Smalljaw recommended.

I've installed RAM and Railblaza Star Mounts. If I needed a rod holder mounted to a flat surface, I'd probably go with the star mount next, but they're both great.

That would be a state record in all but, what? California, Texas and Georgia? Don't mean to offend, but that sounds like a fish story. What else can you tell us about the lake? Size,surface temps, geography, location, depths, natural or man-made??? Bass can and do move to depths regardless of clarity. How deep is 'deep water structure'?

I have always been comfortable with 9AM on weekends...both by me and by my neighbors. Somewhat arbitrary, but it has always felt like a 'reasonable standard'. On the other hand, I have a next door neighbor who I know is currently working a shift ending at 5AM. I cut the grass in the evenings now.

I've tried a number of colors, but now I don't get hung up on subtleties of different flakes, etc. I feel I have the spectrum covered if I have -very dark (blue and/or black) -watermelon; any variant except the lightest green -goby or orangish or light brown -white variant...cream, pearl, disco, etc. And, I have developed a personality-disorder-like aversion to anything that is laterally 2-toned; dipped tail is fine, but if bottom and top are different colors, it won't find a way onto my hook

Nothing says 'bass lure' to me like a red and white Bass O'Reno. It was always the first lure my father threw in the morning and the last one he threw at night. Its been over nearly 50 years, but I still recall clearly that he was insistent on not even thinking about imparting action until long after every last ripple had disappeared. I never had the patience to wait 30-40 seconds to start working it, but I always got outfished. He was most successful with a jerk/jerk long pause.....interminable pause, if you'd asked me.

I've found for the first time this season that my 6 (and 7) turn improved clinch knots with Yo-Zuri 8# and 12# are slipping when I tighten them down. I've NEVER had an issue in the past. I don't know if YZ has gotten a little slicker or what, but after 40+ years with improved clinch, I've switched to Trilene (improved clinch with extra run through the eye) and I'm practicing SD Jam.

I'm not handy with tools (at all!) and didn't want to drill into my new kayak, either. That said, I got the Yak Gear Deluxe trolley and I absolutely love it. I've since bought a riveter and a tube of Goop and have drilled (almost?) fearlessly and extremely successfully a number of times.

I don't pitch or flip, but I feel I've gotten pretty good with a roll cast. I prefer rods with a shorter handle and as long as I'm using two hands, I feel I'm as accurate as I am standing in a boat pitching. The biggest challenge is getting a straight drop from the surface to the bottom since the lure travels so close to the surface that there isn't much slack for the drop like there is on a good flip/pitch. The benefit of a yak, though, is that I can move in closer/quieter with confidence to mitigate that.

Does the swivel go through guides/eyes?

Welcome, A. Kayaked up river from BRM yesterday. Wanted to head down a bit, but the wind was brutal. Caught exactly two bass all day. Water is high and visibility is about three inches. The carp are boiling in the shallows...kinda creepy when you can't see them in 12 inches of water, but the surface is boiling and their banging the bottom of the boat and the paddle

I suspect the gene is more common than we're giving it credit for. But maybe it just needs a 'trigger'...or proper exposure. I've met a couple/few people who were exposed to fishing, caught a good fish (or many fish) early on and didn't get rabid about fishing. But not many. I'd guess the majority of people, even those from non-fishing families, get the itch if they have good early experiences fishing/catching. I think a lot of people who 'don't get it', haven't had an opportunity. Not all, of course. One of my sons doesn't...but he's the exception in my family...generations back, even.

I've tried shaky head and trig and couldn't buy a bite with them. May have to try swimming the ones I have left.

I'm in the market for a kayak lift assist system. My wife wants to take her Perception out alone, but is unable to get it onto the racks on her RAV4 alone. (Not just the gross weight, but height of Jracks, wide plastic fairing on back of car, etc.) We're looking into load assist systems and promising looking choices appear to be Showboat, Hullavator, Telos and maybe Rhino (Nautic or RUSL.) Does anyone here have any personal experience with any of these?

Any intel on Algonkian? Not real conveniently located for me, but since the NOVA launch pass includes Algonkian Park, I thought I'd check and see if anyone here has been fishing from there.
