Welcome and good luck. I know nothing about your boat's electrical system, but I have a little experience with electrical problems. All bad. AJay is correct. You're going to learn a lot. And you must trace every wire, connection, lead, etc. And hope and pray that you only have one 'problem'. Multiple, simultaneous faults will certainly cause loss of sleep, hair and sanity.

I had a decent weekend and wish I'd been paying attention to this thread before now. ....though I don't have a bump board, anyway....guess I'd better go shopping.....Is Hawg Trough THE standard that will be accepted in most tournys?

Siebert makes some with Mustad hooks that I like. I also like MegaStrike Shake2 in the heavier sizes. And, you will never go wrong, IMO, if you have an Owner hook at the business end of your rig. I've become a huge fan of Owner points.

It does sound odd. My first thought would be that you're points aren't tack-sharp and you're not getting good penetration on hook-set. With good hooks, you'll get the barb set and and shouldn't lose many. I'd also caution about keeping the fish down. It is fun as heck to watch them jump, but you'll land more if you keep that rod tip down and maintain control.

Just got home from Fountainhead. They wouldn't rent us a boat...still too windy. And they got power knocked out by downed power lines. Took the kayak out from Pohick Friday and got a few short fish. Yesterday afternoon I went out at Occoquan River and pulled 4 nice bass. All between 2.5 and 4. Sitting home now wishing we could have gotten out today. Weather looks fine from my deck....but their are white caps on the rez.

95% certain that I'll be in town this weekend, after all.....unless there's lightning or 30+MPH wind, I expect I'll have the yak out Sat. If not BRM, then Pohick or Occoquan Regional Park...somewhere wet, anyway....I'm getting antsy

Floated sections 3 or 4 times last year and never had a bad day. That said, I've never caught a four pounder there, either. I have talked to guys that have, and most were using live mad toms for bait.

Wish I could be more than unhelpful. I spent three years there (97-00), but I didn't fish at all while there. I do know that Ogawara and (and also, I believe, the smaller waters north) is quite brackish. The only fishing I recall going on there was for smelt. I did have a friend who fished some ponds by innertube and claimed to do pretty well, but I don't recall if he was catching bass. The waters to the west are mostly at elevation and I don't remember anyone fishing for other than trout. By the way, fishing aside, Misawa was probably the best place I was stationed in 27 years (and over ten different duty stations.)

I love mine.....It's such a great rod for bottom contact sensitivity that I never considered putting crankandwind baits on it.

I primarily use them as a trailer on a skirted jig, on a shaky head, or on a weighted hook Funny, though, I have had no luck with the more realistic looking pre-rigged crawfish lures

I've got a Wilderness Tarpon 100. I used duct seal to mount the transducer and made a battery seat with some styrofoam blocks. I was at West Marine yesterday to pick up their wire caps:http://www.westmarine.com/buy/west-marine--two-hole-wire-caps--P003_094_010_501 Unfortunately, the pics don't tell the 'hole' story. The four screws that hold the top of the cap to the base are much longer than both pieces and would penetrate the hull. I'm sure it would be secure, but I am not thrilled with making 5 holes for this task. I've been looking at the Hobie wiring kit, but haven't worked up the nerve to pull the trigger....I am having trouble accepting that I must pay $23 for a fifty cent plastic hole.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to make it. Got family stuff to attend to. I took the kayak out from BRM for about 3 hours Saturday evening and got one good bite...nothing landed. I sheepishly admit that I did spend a little time chasing big surface activity, most of which were apparently carp. I did see one monster bass come all the way out of the water near some laydowns and worked to get her attention... for too long.

Ben Parker's spoons weigh an ounce and a half and I've seen it recommended to use swimbait rod, reel and line. I haven't gotten one, but the bait monkey has been singing to me.

I'm not thrilled with glue, either. However, since I switched to Outkast Money heads, I'm ok with the glue. These heads have just been so much more satisfactory to me. They hold their shape and point even when pulling them out of wood all day. They aren't the lightest wire, but they fish like it; they don't need to be driven home.

Not just trailer tires. Can be important when looking at used vehicles...or used tires.

Do you pass your cables through a drain plug? If so, did you put a new one in? Or, perhaps 'Hobie-type-through-hull-cable grommet things'? Drill a hole just big enough, then goop it up? Mostly unrelated rant.....I'd really love to have one definitive Kayak Fishfinder sticky thread. When I get a few minutes one of these days, I'll grab up what I think are the 'good' threads and put links into one. There's great information on here, but it is so scattered, that it is a bit tough.

I'm very thankful that my brother in law didn't. I had his boat out last summer with his fancy new Humminbird (with seemed bigger than 24 inch TV) that was tied to his brand new remote controlled trolling motor. Somehow, on the way out, I marked a waypoint on the gps. Couple hours later I managed to convince the remote control TM to head back to the waypoint.....at top speed. Only problem was this little rockpile the size of a VW bug up out of the water that just happened to be between me and the waypoint. Panic-stricken, I could do NOTHING to convince that boat to go some direction - ANY direction other than right for the rocks. I managed to pull the plug on the TM before we put a hole in my BIL's Tracker. Me and technology pretty much rarely see eye to eye.

I grabbed my wife's left handed baitcaster the other day and walked out to the pier and it wasn't pretty.
