If rez is nuts with cormorants, the river is insane. Was out there Sunday and the sky was black with them. My wife took this at sunset. Just one of about a dozen flocks that came in over about 30 min.

Cormorant population seems worse than I ever recall. Hope they're just passing through. I don't know for certain that they'd affect the bass population, but I have a hard time thinking they'll help.

I was whining about lack of a wishlist some time ago....but after much deep thought on the issue, I decided that I probably save myself a LOT of money by filling up a cart every day and exiting without completing the sale. Sometimes, I'll print out my cart and save the paper as a reference for next visit (sometimes the same day lol.) But honestly, I think the way it works now saves me a boatload of cash and space.

Believe I saw a Wilderness Ride for $700 or less in your area, also. Some good deals always on CL. But check often, because the truly good deals don't sit out there long.

Maybe you didn't read these....nothing we've said suggests that it would be a good deal if he paid you $5 to take it....if the yak sucks and you can't sell it, you've paid $200 for a $90 paddle

Quick googling suggests that craft if probably 15-20 years old...maybe more. Could be tough to find a new seat. Check all the elastic and plastic, etc real well. Can't tell if you have room for a crate in back....looks like inside storage....sit in it and see if that works...also might be tough to find surface(s) for rod holders, ff, etc. Might be a good deal for what it is, I have no idea...but what it is may not be what you need

Examples? I ask because the range of lures for bass is SO wide and SO deep that it might help to narrow the discussion. I will pay $7+ for a bag of Senkos all day every day before I'd buy two packs of Stick-O's. I know that isn't true for nearly everyone. I will pay for a premium for an LC jerkbait, but I won't hesitate to throw a Zoom Fluke either. You're correct that confidence has a lot to do with whether or not we give a lure/bait a proper try.

Crazy thing about a kayak is that you don't realize until after you've bought it that its more like a boat than you ever thought. You go looking at them and thinking that "$xxx.xx looks like something I can afford, all right"....and before you know it, you've spent twice that before you've even been out a half dozen times..... Got my wife a new kayak last weekend....nice ride, nice price....but after tax, paddle, pfd, roof racks, cross bars, straps, crate, rod holders, star ports, cart, trolley....well, we're in several hundred beyond tagged price......haven't even gotten to talking about fish finder, anchor, shallow anchor pole, rudder, flag, light.....

LOTS of posts about yak fishing here. Search a bit. But maybe the best advice is to get out and do it. None of the advice here will be nearly as valuable as time on the water. Once you've read some and start to get comfortable, come by and feel free to ask more specific questions...say, about outfitting your rig, or specific fishing/casting techniques, or hauling it, or..... What did you get and what type of water will you be on?

A lot of retailers were discounting the Salty Core sticks last year and I bought a few packs. I tried them off and on with no success. However, just the other day, I got to thinking about them and did a little reading up. I'd fished them T-rigged and belly weighted hook rigged. By design, their key is supposedly the straight fall shimmy. I probably didn't bring that into play the way I fished them. So, I'll try them wacky and weightless before I write them off again. I also tried the Flappers, on a shaky head IIRC, but didn't get any action so buried those in my bag, also. Maybe I'll try flipping them this spring. Their swimbaits will always have a place in my bag, however. Aside from traditional swimming as described above (LOVE the slow speed action), I also fish the 3 inch Swing Impact on an Owner Finesse ball head much the same as I'd fish a Ned rig. That tail flaps even when its just sitting there on the bottom.

I might look for a different lake....:) I don't know....I got it in my head long ago that bass hate cedar. Its gotten so I might even pass up a good looking cedar laydown for the next deciduous lone branch. May be a self-fulfilling prophecy since I don't give cedar proper attention, but I look for something other than cedar when I can

It bothers me, but then, it never occurred to me to try to photograph one that way. If I am alone and get a fish that I deem photo-worthy, I've always just held it out at arm's length and shot it. They only other way I've took pics is laying on a boat ruler or bump board. So, I suppose part of the reason I don't like it is because I never understood why its done. Wait...I just remembered two fish photos I've taken on the ground. One was a gar and the other was my first snakehead (I wasn't quite sure how to hold it) - and I planned to kill both anyway.

My dexterity blows. I've not used a 'good' snap or clip that is much, if any, faster than tying. Improved clinch takes me less time, usually. So does palomar unless the eye is really small. Regardless, I find that I check my line and knots more reliably when I re-tie vice unclip/clip. I've done away with clips and swivels in all applcations accept c-rig swivels. I probably could/should use a swivel for flukes and other spinning nightmare baits, but I don't, unless I'm throwing double flukes.

I have a Wilderness Tarpon 100. It is, I believe, a 2014 model. However, it is decidedly NOT the same as the yak pictured. My Tarpon has: -sliding, adjustable foot pegs, as opposed to molded foot slots -slide tracks (4) - port and stbd; fwd and aft -dry hatch right in front of the seat -my seat has more adjustments - for back and bottom of thighs -webbed 'tool pockets' on either side of seat Not trying to be combative...just suggesting that the differences aren't slight

something that I learned last weekend....I sheepishly admit that I had no idea that the paddle has a 'right-side up'....I was shown that the (brand name) words on my blades were upside down indicating that I had the paddle backwards....and fixing that made a difference....I never knew

I've got a few. None very high end. An old Normark is my favorite. Never saw the need for more expensive knives. Keeping an edge isn't difficult. Can't imagine what the alternative is to 'sharpening them myself'...???? Pay someone to do it? Or have my wife do it, perhaps. It isn't hard....it is satisfying to put an edge...and it needs it frequently enough that it'd be silly not to do it myself.

I haven't done in-water observation, so I don't know for certain, but do know they work, so I'll bet they're closer to neutrally buoyant than you realize. Just a little wave action, current or rod tip vibration must be enough to make them erect enough to get the fish interested.

I'm into third year working previous generation (SSH1) and I like it a lot. So, I do believe that you probably wouldn't regret that purchase. However, I probably won't buy another. I didn't like the handles, but I admit that once I put reel grips on it, I've liked it a lot more. That said, I'd suggest you take a good look at Daiwa Tatula before you pull the trigger. If I had $100 to spend on a reel right now, I'd wait until I had $120 and get a Tatula Type R. If I have to buy it right now, I'd buy a Tatula. I like my Lews Speed Spool. I love my Daiwas.
