What's my lure?
Thanks, all. I forgot to mention that it is extremely buoyant . Runs true always. Hard to find 0-6" floaters out there....doesn't have action I like when I wake it.

Anyone else do this when they can't fish?
Ha. I was sharpening hooks today. Again. New ones, even

What's my lure?
Time for another round.... this beautiful minnow has been with me for years and is responsible for some very nice fish. It dives about six inches, has a dramatic wobble and drives bass wild. I'm always afraid of losing it because I have no idea what it is. I'd love to get a couple backups if anyone can tell me what it is Sorry I dropped this in wrong subforum...if a mod would be so kind as to move it, I'd appreciate it

Anyone Hit The Occoquan Reservoir Lately?
Only a few weeks until Fountainhead opens up! I greatly appreciate all the info provided by the rez vets on here. I have a question about a specific spot...not a hot spot, but an apparent dead one...at least to me. Has anyone ever had repeatable luck at the sharp bend between Ryan's Dam and Wolf Run? So much about this turn in the river/rez looks appealing: flats out from point; all kinds of varied structure, ledges and slopes, short bay at outside of elbow, blowdowns and deep channel nearby....however, I've NEVER caught a bass at that curve. Down a hundred yards or so; along the channel, I do OK fishing the ledges...and of course, bunch of areas around Wolf Run....but that corner and maybe 100 yards up and down from there have been dead to me. Anyone had enough luck in that corner for me to spend any more time on it? Thanks!

A Few Jigs I Tied
Agree with all. In fact Cadman also showed me how to wire tie. Thanks, Ted.

Swing Type Jig Heads
I haven't used Freedom's, but I have bought Larews, Strike King and about 4 other, more 'generic' or non-big-names. For some reason that I haven't exactly figured out, the configuration of Larew Biffle Hard Heads come through everything MUCH better than anything else. Wish I could put my finger on exactly what it is, but to me, the hardhead is worth it....if only because I will lose so many fewer than any other.

Swing Type Jig Heads
I agree. From strike transmission, to ability to come through brush, to confidence in plastic presentation, I much prefer the swing jig.....but more important, I'd never realized that Shawn Grigsby could be Glenn's brother

Did you get that same feeling I did when you were tying them?......didjya feel like you were cheating on Mike Siebert?

New Favorite Lure: Creature Baits
Nice bass! I can't get a bite on full size brush hogs for some reason. I was on good fish last year with a certain beaver style - I ran out of the color I was using and tried a brush hog for first time in ages......couldn't get a nibble....went to baby hogs and was back to catching....I have zero confidence in the big ones

A Few Jigs I Tied
Those look great! I tied a bunch last year on Siebert Arky heads and they look similar, except for your Deep Throat hooks. I've used both wire and zip ties. Wire rules once you get it down. Nicely done.

Who would you fish with for a day?
I would learn tons from any of them, but, I can't imagine a pro that'd be more fun to fish with than Swindle.

Do you mark your reels?
hmmmm.....interesting.....I'm curious how my insurance company will react when I file a claim for a year's worth of lures at the bottom of the the reservoir.... OP, I don't mark any of my gear, but I agree that it sounds like a great idea. Something I will seriously consider

How many of you, Fish like this?
OP, if the waters you're coming down to fish are tidal Potomac waters, then the tide tables are what you should be studying (and thus, indirectly, the moon phases.)

Best all aroun bass line
How did you like the mono you were using? What did you like or not like about it? Did you feel 10# was heavy enough for most of your applications? Yo Zuri is pretty good all-around line for spinning or baitcasting. For me, its a great balance of manageability (less slinky action and loops than most fluorocarbons and mono's ...at least for me), value, durability, flexibility (med buoyancy, stretch, etc.) Lots of other directions you can go, of course. Braid with a leader might be a good option, also.
