Tatula 150 does the job for me admirably

These look like the kind of baits that would make angry Lanier spots go crazy.

Reel/rod size recommendation
You may want to size up to a 4000 size as some insurance in the event you hook one of those whales.

Need advice for surf spinning rod
Don’t discount the many creeks, marches, inlets and backwater in the area as well. Assuming you’re a bass fisherman since you’re on this site, so your bass gear is perfectly appropriate for targeting reds, trout and flounder in the above-mentioned areas

Tatula MQ LT vs Stradic FM 2500 Spinning Reel
I’ve been a Stradic guy for a long time but I’ve started accumulating Daiwa spinning reels lately. Primarily for the rigs that perform double duty in saltwater. Don’t really think you can go wrong. Choose the one which balances better in your rod.

Wobble-head recommendation
To me, the Z-man is a good choice for swimming or dragging a bait in open water or very light cover. That head shape is not a good option for working a bait through rip rap or chunk rock.

I’ll bite (pun intended)… what does finesse fishing for snook look like? I’ve only caught a few in the mid 20s but the big boys have been on my bucket list as long as I’ve had a bucket list.

Interest? Yes… Available vacation days will be VERY difficult though. Two weeks already spoken for for an Alaskan cruise. I’ll send you some halibut 😀

Hilton Head
The fun part is not knowing whether a lagoon is freshwater or brackish! Yes, there are gators in PD but I’ve never had any issues. And since that water is responsible for my PB redfish and speckled trout, it’s worth it regardless. As far as kayak, I’d suggest putting it in the salt and going up one of the many creeks for some saltwater fun. There’s a large overlap in equipment and tackle used for bass and redfish.

I pity the fool!

Saltwater Fishing - Reel Question
Rinse reels with light freshwater spray or windex, and wipe down. Don’t neglect the rods either. Rinse them off good, especially the guides.

Lew’s 2nd Gen LFS Inshore Baitcaster
If lures are on the lighter side, why not consider a spinning reel?
