OK !!!WHO'S GOING TO THE CLASSIC???
I'm hoping to make the trip. This year I'm lucky enough to have both the Classic and the Forrest L Wood Cup within driving distance.

Orange Bowl
This loss had ZERO to do with being "one dimensional" and had EVERYTHING to do with complete and total lack of blocking execution. Iowa's DL owned GT's OL. End of story. GT got handled, but all is not lost. My team played in a BCS bowl in year 2 of a complete regime and scheme change so I'm encouraged with what the next few years will hold. As well as we did this year, Tech still lacks big bodies on both lines. I'm confident that will be an area of improvement for 2010. Just as a reminder Catt -- yes, your Tigers beat Tech in the bowl last year. But it wasn't because Tech was "shut down" as everyone was quick to say from reading the headlines. LSU outgained Tech by 10 yards. That's it. GT was marred mostly by extremely poorly-timed turnovers. Not because Tech was "shut down". Just thought I'd throw that out there And FYI, Scott Blair is not Nesbitt's backup. He's our kicker

Any Ga Tech or Iowa fans?
I'm packing up tonight for my flight to Fort Lauderdale for the Orange Bowl. Anyone else making the trip? Any other GT or Iowa fans around here? Bulldawg fans need not comment Of course, I gotta get in a little fishing while I'm in FL. I have a 6-hr inshore trip booked for Tuesday morning

new premier for weightless plastics?
If your STX isn't throwing 1/4 oz T-rigs well, then you either don't have it set right or the reel needs to be serviced. You should have no issues with this weight...

Shaky Head rod
I can only speak to the rods I've fished, and I have not fished any Loomis. All I can say is that I do fish a few Dobyns rods and I really like them a lot. I find my spinning rod very versatile and effective at the techniques I use it for, shakey head included. You can read about the Dobyns warranty here: http://www.dobynsrods.com/service.html

new premier for weightless plastics?
Hehe...I'll assume you're talking about the Abu Garcia Revo Premier reel I just got a new 2010 Premier for Xmas. So far I've mostly thrown 1/2 oz lipless cranks with it, but I did also spent some time throwing a weightless fluke. I'm still playing with the dual braking system, but I gotta say I was rather impressed with how well the new Premier launched the fluke. I've thrown a weightless fluke quite a bit on my earlier model STXs and they threw it effectively as well. However, I'd get a few small backlashes here and there. Knock on wood, but I've yet to throw a single backlash with my new Premier. I think you'll be pleased

Shaky Head rod
Another vote for Dobyns. I have a Gen 1 703SXF that I use for shaky heads. The 3 power also allows me to be able to fish split-shot rigs on or around heavy grass...

Drop Shot Reel Under $150.00
St Croix Avid ACS69MLXF paired with a Daiwa Tierra 2000 Purchasing both new should put you around $280. It'll be worth it to put the extra $30 in

Revo owners please respond
I've got 3 older STXs, a Winch and a brand new 2010 Premier. The 3 STXs have been fished hard and I freakin' love these reels. While the Winch and the new Premier haven't been fished a ton yet, the initial performance has been great. As a matter of fact, my first trip out with the Premier was last week. I had one of those magical right bait, right place, right time outings where I caught 15 in about 45 minutes. All on the new Premier. I wish I could break in all my new equipment like that

how do u guys fish ur flukes
I fish primarily 2 colors...pearl white and smokin' shad I rig them either weightless with a 4/0 EWG or with a very lightly weighted (1/32 or 1/16 oz) 4/0 EWG. Rigging it straight is very important to get the right action From there, I experiment with the retrive cadence and depth. Cast it out, let it sink and give it some light twitches to get it to move erratically. I'd recommend you drop it into the water right next to you and give it a few twitches. If you see it's favoring one side when retrieved, you can fix it immediately I find the hardest part about fluke fishing is waiting for it to sink deep enough, and waiting long enough between twitches

Show off your Stuff
You look to be one spinning reel short. What a coincidence!

Colleges in the Northeast cutting football...
It doesn't matter how expensive the schools are. This is a business decision. If football at these schools costs more to run than it returns in ticket sales, etc, then it's not profitable.

Notre Dame is looking for a new Coach!!!!
Couldn't happen to a more delusional fanbase... Past success does not dictate future success. And Kirk Herbstreit said it best on College Gameday this past weekend -- ND hasn't been relevant for 15 years. They're a good program with good players that haven't done squat on the national stage in nearly 2 decades. Money talks but I imagine there are many coaches out there who see how quickly the last 3 guys were driven out of South Bend and are not too eager to take the plunge into an unwinnable situation.

4 power Dobyns vs MH St Croix
Hey all, Does anyone own both a 4-power Dobyns and a MH St Croix? Just wondering how the 2 compare in real-world fishing applications. The 2 are rated with similar lure ratings (The St Croix MH is rated for 3/8 - 1 oz whereas the Dobyns H is rated for 1/4 to 1 oz) but I'm wondering how different they are. I'm eyeing the 7' MH St Croix Legend Bass rod for tasks like spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, paddletail swimbaits and lipless baits up.

Top Water Setup
Revo STX w/ St Croix Avid AC66MF. Long enough to make long casts, short enough to work "tip down" lures, and soft enough tip to not rip treble hooks out. Also a great combo for jerkbaits and shallow crankbaits, in my opinion.

Guntersville help!
Was ~64 degrees on Monday 10/26

My God, did you see that hit...
I did But to that DB's credit, he got up and almost made the tackle on Dwyer.

Going to Guntersville -- what do I need?
Me and a buddy are gonna head out to Guntersville on Monday for a day of fishing. What sort of tackle do I need to bring? I always hear stories about flipping and frog fishing the grass mats but I have no idea how heavy a rod I need to have. My heaviest rod is a 4 power G1 Dobyns -- will this be seriously underpowered here or should I be alright? Any other input?
-
Uses for 6'3 spinning rod.
Add topwaters and jerkbaits to the mix

When to call it quits...?
2 factors here... 1) how much Goretex do you own? 2) do you still have enough dexterity to tie a knot? Hehe...

Your Biggest of 2009.....So far
My year has SUCKED. Started a new project on New Year's Eve 2008, and we're still not done with it so I haven't spent nearly as much time on the water as I wanted to. Although I actually have gotten out on the water the past 2 weekends in a row... Any my big fish for the year, a meager 4-8, came last weekend fishing a bone Super Spook Jr. over a point.

Where is the College Football Smack?
My offense is clicking on all cylinders. But my defense hasn't shown up in a few weeks. I have no idea what to expect anymore. But I will be in the front row at the 3 yard line at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field this weekend yelling my arse off for the Jackets to beat VT. Then again, I'll be on campus 10 hours before kickoff getting my tailgate on...

I always wanted to live on a lake, just not like this
So for anyone who has seen any news of the flooding in Atlanta, either local ATL news or national news, you've probably seen pictures of my subdivision. http://www.wsbtv.com/slideshow/weather/21048330/detail.html First 9 slides are my subdivision, taken from a news helicopter. Look closely in slide 4 at the top, the cluster of near the first dry house on the right-hand side of the street. My wife and I are in that group of people. Our house is in that cul-de-sac, the dry part of the photo. The flooded part is the only way to drive in or out of the neighborhood. We needed to drive to an adjacent subdivision and walk across yards to get to our house. I even saw these pictures on ABC World News last night... Thankfully the waters have already receded quite a bit and my house did not sustain any damage, but my neighbors are not so lucky. 18 of the 24 houses had 5+ ft of water in them. This is the 2nd "hundred year flood" my town has had in the last 5 years. Not sure how many neighbors will stay...
