  1. I think Abu Garcia has been making reels long enough that their longevity and reliability shouldn't come into question much. I've had Revos since their introduction and have had absolutely no issues. True, it's only been a few years, but I have no cause for concern. The internal components are all of solid construction. With that said, I will fully admit that their exterior finish isn't the most durable, but this has no impact on the functionality of the reel.
  2. Does anyone have any experience with Lake Fork FHP line? I'm tempted to give it a try, if for no other reason then one spool is actually enough for 2 reels full
  3. Yes, I believe you should tip. I based it on the following: 1) punctuality and professionalism 2) knowledge 3) effort expended to meet your fishing goals for the trip 4) personality
  4. Does anyone have an approximate weight of a 5-inch hollowbody swimbait? I'm sure the different brands differ, but just a a ballpark range would help.
  5. Please trade Calvin Johnson to a relevant team
  6. So how exactly can this line provide the sensitivity of braid with the stretch of monofilament??? Isn't the reason that braid is more sensitive because there is no stretch?
  7. St Croix AVS68MXF Personally, I fish flukes with the rod tip down most of the time, and I find a 7ft rod a bit too long for that. But 6'8" works really well for casting distance, hook setting power and comfort for me.
  8. I'm interested to see how it works out for you as well I recently had some reels cleaned and worked on. My local reel guy recommended I supertune my Zillions but strongly recommended NOT to do anything to my STXs since the stock bearings and drag are good and there's not much to polish (his words, not mine )
  9. That's a pretty stout spinning rod. What applications do you have in mind for it?
  10. The E5 does come in a right hand retrieve, I own one and you can find them at most places that sell curados. That's his problem exactly -- that the E5 ONLY comes in RH.
  11. I share your sentiments on Shimano's left-retrieve availability, but I'm an Abu and Daiwa guy anyway I reallly like my Winch -- smooth, comfortable, etc. I' haven't caught too many fish that have tested the drag on it yet (fishing cranks), but I think the Revo drag system has been proven via all the other reels in the line. I have no reason to think the drag will be an area of concern. With that said, the reel isn't fantastic for casting lighter cranks. It's OK, but not the best choice for 1/4 oz and less. The higher line capacity makes this reel a good choice for swimbaits as well since it can hold enough bigger line.
  12. For me, it's a medium casting rod. Specifically a St Croix Avid AC66MF But I also throw quite a bit with a MH spinning rod
  13. I'll bring my jon boat and it's 145 total lbs of thrust. Hold onto your butt upon takeoff...
  14. Fair enough. Thanks for the info, Glenn.
  15. Hey guys, A day or so ago, I stopped being able to view the forums from my iPhone. Whenever I try to access, I get a page saying I'm banned, and it won't even give me the opportunity to login. Yet access is normal from any PC. Any ideas? Mods?
  16. Dobyns 683, Revo Premier, 12lb Trilene 100% Floro I fish it weightless with a 4/0 hook. Favorite colors are Smokin' Shad and Pearl White
  17. Book your trip with George. Problem solved.
  18. You shouldn't need to respool until you've cut off enough to impact casting distance.
  19. Yep. For a month or so every year, my car is yellow.
  20. When using a baitcaster, I use my AC66MF w/ a Revo STX, 12 lb P-line CX. However, I do find it more comfortable using my 6'6" BPS Extreme MH spinning rod w/ Stradic 2500, 10 lb P-line CX.
  21. But I am I'm planning to give the Spro a workout on Saturday. We'll see what happens and if they can overtake the Pointers in my box...
  22. As long as order is restored by 3/25, all is well
