USA TODAY Coaches Poll
So, uh, couldn't the same thing be said about ANY offense? I guess that's why so many games end in 0-0 ties -- because defenses are always in position, and there are never any missed tackles or mismatches to exploit. And all of you can continue to expect that last year's offense and this year's offense will be exactly the same thing. As a matter of fact, count on that. PLEASE. Then we'll see what happens. Catt -- LSU was clearly the better team that day last year. GT picked a heck of a time to lay a complete egg. But do I think LSU was really 35 points better of a team? No. Many other teams last year said the exact same thing about stopping a one-dimensional team. Most of them, including the preseason Number 1 from the mighty SEC, were left with a L on their schedule. And as I recall, GT did finish with a winning record against the SEC last year. Allow me to bow down to the superiority of the mighty Big XII and SEC. I'm surprised you let anyone else even discuss football here. Please continue about your business, and just pencil in the entire ACC as winless in out of conference games. As a matter of fact, didn't a mighty SEC team get embarassed by a Mountain West (read: NON-BCS) team last year? Just sayin'. Am I realistically expecting a national championship? No. Is it outside the realm of possibilities? No. But I'm sure as heck gonna enjoy the ride.

I hate alligators
The wife and I took a trip to Hilton Head to visit my folks and do some fishing. Just as we always do, we have a very good trip with a guide we've booked 6+ times now. But I also wanted to do some bass fishing on the golf course ponds. Got up nice and early and headed down to a sweet little spot I found last time I was here. On the second cast, a bass inhales my spook but shakes off. OK, they're here. I get another HUGE blowup that missed the bait, but I also land one about 2 lbs. Then, the uninvited guest arrives. The pond I'm fishing is long and skinny, and I just happen to look down to the right and see a gator cruising in. He stops about 40 yards from me, so I continue to fish. My concern is that the weeds right at the waterline are not trimmed, so he'd be able to hide. As he inches closer over the next few minutes, I decide to try a different spot on the same pond, just around the corner. I hop in the car, park over there and hop out. And then guess who cruises over to join me again? I mean, this dude swam directly at me from my previous spot. Looking at the size of this gator, I think it's the same one I found on this pond last time I was here. He didn't take too kindly to me swatting mosquitoes off me, an actually came up out of the water at a friend and me. That ended THAT fishing day, and he ended this one for me as well. On a side note, apparently a 12-ft gator was spotted in the ocean off Hilton Head this weekend, and has so far eluded capture. It was last spotted swimming 400 yards off the beach. How'd you like to be out fishing for mackeral and see this beast cruise up beside your boat? Hehe...

Shimano Curado vs. Diawa Zillion
Yep, I realized that. I just thought I'd give the first non-incognito vote for the better reel

USA TODAY Coaches Poll
Post of the year! Except the part about not winning a national championship I cannot freakin' wait to see the GT offense this year. If we did as well as we did last year while most of the guys still didn't understand the offense, this year could be downright ugly...for GT's opponents

Shimano Curado vs. Diawa Zillion
2 pages and not a single vote for the Zillion? Wow... Well here's my vote: Zillion Strong, smooth, EXTREMELY well put together, very ergonomic and comfortable, all versions available in both R and L retrieve I tried the Curado and it was no great shakes for me...

soft swimbait storage
For all you swimbaiters out there, how do you store your soft swimbaits or even the hard swimbaits with the soft tails? For instance, I have a Mattlure soft bluegill and baby bass that I normally store in a 3700 container. That container joins the other 3700's I have in my Browning bag, and is stored vertically. Problem is when I pull those baits out, they've invariably shifted positions in the box and got a kink in the plastic tail. And we all know this impacts the action of the lures. So how do you guys store them to minimize this kind of effect?

Bought a new car
I just bought a new car a few weeks ago as well. With the economy doing what it's doing, it was nice to be able to get 3 dealers competing for my business as I negotiated from the comfort of my home via e-mail

$100 range rod and reel combo or separate
I agree...for this price range, I think the BPS combos are a very good option.
-
Walking the dog
Use a shorter rod to learn, I'd recommend a 6-footer. The trick is to make sure you have some slack in your line. If you have no slack between you and the lure, it'll just move forward when you twitch. Once you see how much slack you need in the line to get the bait to walk, the next step is learning the cadence of twitching the rod and picking up line with the reel. I wish I could give you some clear instructions on how to do it, but the only thing I can tell you is to practice. It'll come

Alright college students let start suing.
Wow...I think all this crap started when they decided to stop keeping score in pee-wee soccer. If a 2.7 GPA and good attendance isn't enough to land someone a job then I don't know what is. Oh wait, yes I do...

Good Frogging Rod Under $75?
Sensitivity is not really needed for this... I'd say a BPS Extreme 7', MH or H will do fine. And you can frequently get them on sale for $70. I also agree on the reel and braid comments. As fast a reel as you can get, and at least 50lb braid

Yellow Magic Poppers
I love these things... The difference is in the shape of the face of the bait, so it produces a different noise than other poppers. I have a few 1/4 and a few 1/2 oz, just depends on the situation which size I choose.

Fireline Braid = Great Stuff
I'd try it, but I just wish they'd give you a "normal amount" on a spool instead of the 110 yds they currently have.

Anybody fish Ft Stewart, GA
I've never fished, but I do hear stories about how these bodies of water are opened and closed regularly. I recommend you try to confirm they're open before making the drive. Then again, I don't know exactly how to do that either

Build yourself a plywood box, order a bunch of worms online and then you can simply go to your wormbox and take what you need before each fishing trip.
