  1. Maybe a swim jig. It looked like it had a small skirt. Probly wrong though
  2. Oh and with your civic... putting the back seat down and feed rods through the trunk to your front seat and length shouldn't be a problem as long as you keep rods no longer than 7ft. I too have a small car and my 7 footer touches my dashboard.
  3. RODS: try checking out any house rods from gander mountain,Bass pro shops, or cabelas. Some of them are decent for under 50 bucks. REELS: lews are actually pretty good reels even the low budget ones. Heard some good things from eposeidon reels bx1000. Maybe look at pflueger too.
  4. I purchased this rod a couple weeks ago and I'm pretty sure it's the perfect squarebill rod!! I've been looking for a squarebill rod for a little bit now. It's the 6'6" medium heavy. It has the shock flex technology. The tip flex is awsome, not too whippy and a great backbone to get fish away from the cover. I can be very accurate with this rod. I will be honest and say I haven't caught a fish on this rod yet but just really love the way it feels and for me it's not heavy at all. Just my opinion on this rod. I would recommend this one.
  5. 2 lb might be pushing it(but I've never used two). I've used 4 lb before with no problems just as long as you don't set hook hard. Flick the wrist rod set. Drag set a little lighter.
  6. I don't know o if they are still around but I like bassin. Used to buy it from the racks at the supermarket from time to time. I think it gave alot more tip articles. Product reviews.
  7. Just got my new basspro shops 6ft 6in crankin stick today. And I'm liking it alot. I'm pairing it up with a orra sx winch spooled up with 15 lb cxxx p line.
  8. For me the pain comes depending how I grip the reel. If I palm the reel for a really long time. Jig or Texas rig fishing hurts after a while. Fishing cranks or spinnerbaits don't hurt that much cause I grip the handle of the rod mostly. If the rod is really off balance that puts pressure on wrist and fingers. At least for me for long periods of time.
  9. Yea Google Earth is your friend if you can't find any other maps
  10. Parallel the bank for best results. Try to go past cover multiple cast to your target and use a stop and go retrieve. Changing up speeds too. All tips you probly already know.
  11. Mostly last years gander mountains rods. But there was also some abu garcia veritas.they went for I think 80$. I bought a Gander Mountain GSX Tournament casting rod for 27$ originally 80 went down to 49 then 39.
  12. Was at gandermountain today and was looking at discount 30 % off rod rack. Saw a mother and teenage son walking towards my area. The son says wow 30 %off then the mother says no keep walking you already spent 120 dollars at bass pro I don't even kno why we are here! My first thought was holy crap 120$. Then I thought the mom should calm down at least he has a passion for somthing. Haha. Could be into worse. And I'm a believer if a kid saves his own money up, he can spend it. But then again if she paid the bill she has a point. Why are you in gander mountain after you spent 120 a bass pro. That was somthing from my day that stood out and kinda made me laugh. Don't kno why, just thought I share.
  13. Dude use your finger on the line to transmit bite detection. You will feel just about everything you would with fluoro. This works very well with flipping and pitching, And all right with long lining.
  14. Don't forget about flooding. Lake or rivers close to each other.
  15. I would start out with arky head jigs because they have a beveled bottom and you can still drag them or just reel them straight in. Very versatile.
  16. Glass beads for maybe a carolina rig to protect the knot from the weight smashing it. Yea that help ya out I didn't even think of that. Another thing is get a good pair of pliers or forceps. And things like a couple bandaids are a good thing to pack into your tackle box too.
  17. Try for some terminal tackle. Bullet weights. Swivels. A couple topwater baits like a popper or a buzzbait.
  18. Try somthing simple like a shakey head worm or wacky rigged worm
  19. But if college is what you do. Just be prepared with paying back loans and some more loans. And maybe some more loans. Me personally, I think the sales and endorsements aspect of the sport can be learned elswhere. Hands on training.
  20. Oh man I think it's definitely true. Probly not AS much stretch as mono. But pretty much. Cause its denser probly the reason for abrasion resistance too. That's why once the spool I have is done I probly won't buy fluoro again until money is on the line in clearer water situations. Hah. Just too expensive for me I think.
  21. For evening fishing, buzzbaits in shallow waters work well. Just parallel the bank. I also like winging out a walk the dog style bait to the middle of the lake then working it back for awsome hits.
  22. I think it plays more In a jerkbait than say a squarebill. Jerkbaits at least pause for a good while. Those detailed cranks are only to "hook" the fisherman into buying them. I paint my own cranks and they aren't detailed or realistic in any way but i catch plenty of fish with them. When reeling In a crank I believe bass see a crank for split seconds then they strike on it. They react to a white a red a orange a blue. Somthing that makes them react and think ooooo dinner. I doubt they think " oh that fish doesn't have a yellow scale on its Tail. Nope not gonna eat it!" Now I think color is kinda important. Yellow, black or chartreuse for stained muddy water. White or transparent colors for clear waters. Sorry for ranting and rambling!
  23. Just take care of it. I hear they start sounding weird and grinding in a year or two. But you're right they are pretty nice reels brand new. And like I said if taken care of you can make that thing last a while.
