  1. So with the reel trade in. If I bring ing three reels, I get three coupons. Can I use all three coupons toward one reel?? Just wondering.

    Hey welcome to the site.
  3. Dakota lakes tackle . Com. Lure parts online and fishing skirts .com has parts and equipment to help ya build some of that stuff. I'm not sure about kits though. I use these sites to buy stuff for building crankbaits and jigs.
  4. 3/8 1/2oz jigs using a medium heavy fast action baitcasting rod with around 15 lb mono, copolymer, or fluorocarbon will help make sinking that thick hook into that fishes mouth. Jigs with weedguards were almost meant to be thrown into cover. Just set the hook a little harder than usual.then the weed guard won't play that much factor.
  5. I g ituess you answer these questions. Do you tournament fish? Do you have the money to put forth $100+? Do you fish long days? I am definitely an advocate for buying quality stuff. I got tired of buying cheap 15-20$ rods then it break a year later. I buy rods on sale around the 50 dollar mark. Maybe 60. Probly 80-90$ originally. And these rods haven't failed me yet while fishing. (Slammed one in a car door)accidents happen. what I'm trying to say is if you have the money for it Buy it.and if you're hesitant on buying it. if you're asking yourself is it worth it. probably not.
  6. Craw papi.or if you use jigs a zoom super chunk Jr for a trailer.
  7. There ya go get a part time job at gandermountain dicks or cabelas... workers discount plus a paycheck.
  8. I went today and actually found some sales. I usually don't have any luck with stuff like that. the salesman said today was the last day for these sales, so I jumped on some. 2 packs of rage chunks -4.47 2 pline extra strong in 12 and15 lb. for 7,47 3 booyah buzzbaits for 5,19 10 lb grand slam 1/4 lb spool- 10.00 Berkley vanish 14lb- 6.98 stren original mono 14lb- 1.36 pretty good deals
  9. And try ebay for deals. Sometimes they have bulk deals with soft plastics. Fishing flea markets are a good way to cash in on some really cheap gear. You pay a door fee around 3 bucks then people have tables setup selling stuff like a giant fishing yard sale. Just recently I picked up 4 packs of hooks and a popper plug for 3 bucks. My dad picked up a spinning rod for 7 bucks. Check your local newspaper to see if you have any flea markets in your area
  10. Send me a Pm man with address and stuff. I'll send ya some soft plastics and lures and stuff. Ok. I know what it's like.
  11. This is probly one of my favorite ways to fish. I use a 2 piece rod I rigged myself it's a graphite bottom half and a fiberglass tip. I use 15 lb mccoy extraclear line. An orra winch baitcaster. I usually fish squarebills around fallen trees and logs and rocks. Try and bump them on the objects. You kinda want to reel these pretty fast. Just throw and crank.
  12. Well maybe it depends on what lure your throwing. Or if it's an evening pond. I know some lakes I fish they will hit a spook or a popper but never hit a buzzbait. And other lakes visa versa. Some lakes I go to have better catches during sunset not sunrise. I know it sounds crazy.
  13. Yea when I was younger. Harrisburg had alot of sample baits that were handed out. Demonstrations and selling of rods reels baits.
  14. Saving money is my thing... not saying I'm good at it. But I set rules for myself and I follow them. I save money in the long run on lures that I use a lot by putting them together and painting them myself. Like crankbaits spinnerbaits and jigs. I try to buy quality equipment first so it can last a long time if I take care of it. Which I do. I don't have more than 8 rods and reels and 4 of them are for bass. I don't think I need 100 dollar rods or reels to fish. Sure makes it easier. One of combos is a 110 reel and a 50 dollar rod. Also have a reel that was 10 with a rod that was 20. As for getting a different hobby... you will likely be spending money regardless of any hobby. Just have to find ways to cut cost. Using eBay helps alot and giftcards. Taking advantage of sale prices too.
  15. Yep!!! Car door... brand new rod too didn't even get to use it yet. Then that's the only rod I brought so I had to go back home... awsome : (
  16. Yea I don't put tape on the lips. I don't have a problem with it.
  17. Welcome
  18. revo sx 6.4:1 and i want to make it a 5.4:1
  19. Does anyone know how to make a higher gear ratio like a 7.1 or 6.4 into a lower 6.0 or 5.4. Gear ratio? And where you can get the gears or parts?
  20. weirdly enough I was looking for a thread like this earlier today. glad I found it! now I have a lot of success with square bills and I paint my own. I usually paint chartreuse and black, or white with a green or grey back. simple patterns and I know all of those colors work. have painted some bluegill patterns and they work too.
  21. For me I look at season and weather. A real windy day you probly won't fish light line and baits right. So take spinnerbaits or crankbaits. Something moving. And in calm day situations blue bird sky fish most likely hold close to cover or deep. so bring tackle to fish that style. Just how I think before I set out fishing for the day. I kno weather can change. Usually carry one or two lures for certain times like that.
  22. Congrats. Looking to get a replica mount??
