  1. True that. Cant wait to see if I can figure a morning pattern out next time.
  2. Okay. Dont tell anyone but I skipped work to go fishing at a local lake. First time in a while to get to a lake before first light. I was excited too. Started out with some topwater. An ar lure. Long cast to deep water since I was fishing from sure. Maybe ten cast in... sluuuurrrrpp!! No jump or splash just weight...I mean weight! I had it on for maybe 10 seconds. Then it jumps. A really good size bass And throws the lure... now I was using the wrong setup "med/heavy fast im8 graphite. Usually my jig rod. Just the rod I had with me. Hindsight lingered with me for a couple hours.
  3. Jig, spinnerbait, or squarebill crankbait around wood laydowns. Its more of a confidence thing. And its fun...
  4. Tube bait
  5. Ya know thats more common than ya think. There are alot of people who have lake houses or live less than a hundred yards away from a lake or pond and never fish... and it is a waste and baffles me. Haha. Traveling on a plane?? Have no idea. Rods in a travel tube ( pvc pipe) duffle bag or large backpack filled with lures you will use and extra line. I use my b.a.s.s. membership bag for soft pastics.
  6. Go for it dude. I buy unpainted crankbaits and paint them. I buy spinnerbait heads and build my own spinnerbaits. Jigheads too, and I have a ball. You can be so creative. I dont pour lead cuz I live in a one bedroom apt. And dont have the space to melt and pour but once I do get the space ill try to make things from scratch with pouring molds. If its money your worried about, wait til christmas and ask for giftcards to bps or cabelas etc. Where they sell pouring starter kits. Good way to start out. Melt old splitshots down. And friends if they have any unwanted lead... I dont know??
  7. 22" largemouth may 2nd. On a jig. Still on a high from that catch!! Haha
  8. I am left handed so baitcasters are usually set up for lefties... why?? And there are right handed baitcasters soooo why dont pros use them. I see majority of them switch hands during cast or pitch?????? Why its probly such a simple answer but it still baffles me. Fishing with my dad I used to always switch handle sides. Maybe they are used to it but I dont know.
  9. I think I have more fun fishing with someone. You kno someone to talk to. But more serious fishing when alone and patient. I prefer to fish alone though. Move when I want to. Stay how long I want or leave for a different spot.
  10. Welcome zack. Whats up? Dont worry man ur gonna learn alot here
  11. Mccoy. I use extra clear
  12. WOW! NICE
  13. probably once a trip. It does weaken when its passed through guides on cast. But if its not passed through guides then it should last for a while.
  14. Thats a nice looking fish. Nice color
  15. Alright!! Nice!!
  16. Yep thanks guys. Definitely getting a scale. But if you had to guess the weight for that bass what do you think it would be... 5lbs?? Maybe 6?? She really Had a full belly.
  17. Happy jigs
  18. Caught this LM bass about ten feet from shore with a jig pitched around a fallen tree. Thought it was a musky from how much it was fighting. It around 22-23" sorry dont have a scale. Wish I did. Once I saw the head come up I went holy $#!# its a bass. Then my knees started quaking. Barely hooked. Chest pounding. Haha. Definitely my biggest bass ever. So happy. Ps sorry for layin this one on the ground. Just was so befuddled and overwhelmed.
  19. This will be the first year in a really long time im putting down a baseball. Not playing baseball 4 days a week is depressing but...did it to try and fish a lot more. Gonna explore alot more of the lakes around my area. More thoroughly hike the trails and find "the spots" and try to beat my personal best of 5lbs. And got into painting crankbaits and making spinnerbaits to do on days when its pouring out. Hah
  20. Oh yea somtimes fishing topwater with a lil ripple is the way to go. Anything to help coverup what your lure actually is. Cause ripple will actually breakup surface light. Which I think helps disguise the lure. squarebill are one of my favorite lures and so are spinnerbaits. My goto baits when its a lil too windy for weightless plastics.
