  1. Just hold out til early spring man. That's when all the sales are going on.and then make a list on what you need. It seems when I make a list I usually stick to it. As for the long winter. I tinker with tackle, clean my reels and clean my rods and tackle bags.
  2. Hey man welcome to the site.
  3. Alot of vids out there on youtube. Just search making molds for soft plastics.
  4. That's my theory as well. When that lake gets filled back up that lake is deep and the stocked trout they put in there will survive over the summer. So those 8 and 9 inchers that PA trout stocking is usually "famous" for and I think they will stock it with feeder golden shiners too, will be prey for bass and musky. And in 5 years after lake fill up, this lake will produce some heavy bass. Again Just a theory. It was a good bass lake a decade ago.

Pumpkin, green pumpkin, black, blue, whiskey. These colors are good to make some good basic skirts.
  6. Good point. I was thinking negative as a bass fisherman cause all the cover was 50 yards uup.heard that spinnerbaits were the ticket up there this past summer and early fall. What are you throwing.
  7. Hey man. Alright!! I used to fish that lake alot when it was full. It's been drained for almost 15 years. I really can't wait til they get to filling it up and an epic fishery that it can be once again. Chain pickerel was the funfish to catch when I was a kid. Bass too.
  8. Only local tackle shop around here sells live bait, which I really don't use. The rest closed up. Wish I did have one. That be cool.
  9. Just bumped up to a 7 ft mh fast. Used to use a 6ft6in. My accuracy is about the same. I was worried about that. Not being as accurate. But getting used to 7ft Was easy.
  10. hey adam welcome to the site. hope you learn a lot. what you mainly throwing on that rig/
  11. Awe man that's sweet. So jealous
  12. Went out today to blue marsh lake. Caught a smallie and large mouth on a buzz bait. The largemouth was a biggin! A chunky 18-19" probly around 5lbs. Hit like a ton of bricks. The smallie was around 17.
  13. Pond= enclosed body of water. No in flowing or out flowing water. Only rain to keep it filled. Lakes= in flowing water like a stream or river provides the body or main source of Lake water.most of them are dammed up to create the lake. Some lakes have an in flowing and or out flowing underground springs. These are not facts just opinions that I feel explains the lakes I see and ponds.
  14. Little luck in PA also
  15. knot tying... and being efficient at certain knots...
  16. 1/2 oz spinnerbaits. 3/8 oz spinnerbaits if I reel too quick I surface it too much. And 1/2 oz with smaller blades I can burn it faster and keep it down.
  17. cool idea. I usually use a jig, spinner bait or square bill. trifecta for me. as people are saying its a handicap for using one lure for a year... I see it as trying to master a technique.
  18. Wow congrats man.
  19. Pfluger templar. Lasted a long time too. My first baitcaster with more than two bearings with 7. After about two years it just got real noisy casting.
  20. Just tried it today works beautifully. Didn't get a fish on it yet though. Otherwise it cast and handles nice.
  21. 2 piece rods are pretty cool for this. I had a cabelas tourney rod (a stiff rod).which also had a bad broken tip. Then I had a daiwa sweepfire (a very whippey rod). I kept the handle part of the Cabelas rod and used the sweepfire top half. Some rigging and epoxy later I have a pretty neat Frankenstein rod with a flexible tip and a great backbone. I'll be using it for cranks. Feels good hope it stays in shape... If it don't work out I'll just put the sweepfire back together. Im excited to use it.
  22. Sweet!! It's exciting ain't it
  23. Oh heck yea. Around the area I live I'll have the whole lake to myself.
