Today went out fishing with my girlfriend and when we got there she asked for a rod. I told her that I'm gonna teach her how to use a baitcaster. I tell her how it works. Tighten the tension knob. How to use it then hand it to her. Doesn't her first cast look like a pro!! By the end of the trip she had the lure Goin a good 30 yards!! A Lil jealous she picked it up so quick. We Didn't catch a thing though. That's OK still proud of her.

Almost the same exact day for me too! Fished for 6 or 7 hours. One dink bass. Threw everything at them.

Ha! Seriously just did that with a frog a week ago. But grabbed a tree instead. Braid is the worst for picking out backlashes. Had to cut out half my line. Yeah, it was that bad!

May 2014 22.5" guessing a little over 6 and half pounds...maybe 7... Let it go. Caught it on a jig. Was a pre spawn female. Chunky. It's the one in my avatar.

I wish. Everybody and there mother was out on a kayak or boat Just cruising right in front of me. When I'm trying to fish from the bank. Right over my line. Grrrrrrr. Haha

I've tried the mccoy extra clear. I love it. The abrasion resistance is a little lacking just a tiny bit. But I fish a lot of cover and never had a break off. The line just gets a little rough. Barely any line memory. Mean green is pretty similar to extra clear I was told. The sensitivity is pretty good too.

I make skirts that are simple. And I like the hidden weight spinner bait heads.

Same here. It's actually cheaper if you find an online store that sells unpainted heads and paint them your self then clear coat. I use lureparts.com or fishingskirts.com

I guess I could use a leader. Just have to carry extra spool of line with me.

Just wanted to know how many of you guys use braid and fish from the bank? Frogs jigs plastics what ever. And are you nervous about getting stuck and not getting free. not a huge fan of braid for that reason. I use Mccoy extra clear 15 lb 90 % of the time and when I get snagged on wood or what have you which is pretty much (cuz I fish jigs the right way...just kidding)I can break the line with only a little struggle. I can't fish the thick lilies at a lake effectively with this line. Thanks for the help.

I think it's more when I was a kid I started just like any other kid would. A bobber and an earthworm. Catching sunnies and bluegill most likely. Until that one bite when it's a bass and it's bending my snoopy pushbutton setup almost til breaking point. You catch that bass... it's forever.

I went today it was awesome!!

Went to it today. Had a great time. About 30 ft from the stage great seats. Was really surprised about the size of fish coming out of the water. For my first bass tournament ever really set the bar high. Especially since home favorite won. Only regret was to see more elite series pros. But still great fun.

I see a lot of snags happening just because of usually the shallowness of the waters. But then again if you find a steep enough drop. Probably would work then.

Just can't stand people that can't do any thing with out alcohol. Ignorance of people making assumptions that drinking and fishing go hand n hand. dont need beer to go fishing.

I dont kno. Im hesitant on buyin stuff like that. Thin cotton shirts are the way to go. Get a little sweat or water and a breeze will chill you up.

My first bass today was on a square bill. Cast it out, then about three ft away from me a bass comes from underneath and grabs it. Scared the crap out of me haha. Had to loosen the drag a bit real quick. The second one of the day I was stuck on a log with a jig. Tried to shake it off and bam my rod almost bends in half. Haha. Just wondering if anyone else had strikes like these.
