  1. I am running a Hobie PA14. I have found that One Objective makes a mount for my Kayak. Thanks to all in regards to the bow mounted motor, but I am going in that direction. Only Bass fishing here. Not taking the kayak into the salt.
  2. I'm buying a Dakota 18AH for the Chart Plotter.
  3. No Live Scope for the Kayak. Saving that for the new boat, someday...🙄 Thank you for the reply. So a 15AH Dakota would fill the bill. How do you go about recharging these LiFePO Batteries?
  4. As I have mentioned in previous posts on this forum, I apologize for the Newbie questions. I am an old school kayak fisherman that wants to add a chart plotter and maybe a trolling motor to his kayak that is TOTALLY out of the loop these days. I haven't kept up with technology. It has come to light recently that I won't be buying a boat anytime soon. So may as well add the above mentioned items to my Hobie PA14. As you read above, I have made my mind up as far as the Chart Plotter. I like the UHD2 93sv. I have always been drawn to Garmin when it comes to fish finders. Why change now. I'll be going with the GT-56 for a transducer. With that information, which battery for this Chart Plotter? Also, I would like to add a trolling motor in the future. Would it be as simple as adding another battery? Or should I get a battery big enough for the 2 of them now? I would like to go with a Lithium Battery for the obvious weight savings. As much as I hate recharging lithium batteries with their inherent burning qualities. I'll have to educate myself on today's new battery rechargers and look for the safest option. As always, thanks for looking and I look forward to your answers.
  5. I have been kicking around the idea of installing a trolling motor on my 2018 Hobie PA14 now for a couple years. Buddy of mine purchased an Old Towne 12 with the auto pilot. That was the gentle nudge I needed as watching that kayak power around really was impressive. My question is for people that have experience with a trolling motor mounted to a kayak. Is your motor bow or stern mounted? How do you like the mounting position? If you had to do it all over again, would you do it differently? Looking for as many different opinions on this topic due to the fact, as we all know, mounting a trolling motor isn't cheap. I'd like to make the most advised decision as I can. Thanks for looking and looking forward to the comments.
  6. Thank You for the explanation sir. Much Appreciated.👍
  7. Is the 93sv the 7" or the 9" model? I just feel like the 9" model is overkill for my kayak. Then again, I am green when it comes to fish finders. So what the hell do I know? Also, which transducer are you running? I noticed earlier on Garmin's site that the transducer is not included with the head unit.
  8. My Kayak is an older Hobie PA14. I would like to install the transducer into the transducer area on the hull, but I'm thinking that side imaging won't work what with the transducer being stuffed into the hull. Also, I DO NOT want the transducer just hanging out on the hull. I know for a fact that I'll damage it. So it's really looking like an "Over the Side" of the kayak type of transducer mount. Also, for some reason, I am gravitating towards Garmin. Don't know why, but I am. Still researching. Hummingbird holds a very close 2nd in my book...
  9. What he said. I've owned 2 boats in my life and both of them had Fish Finders on them. All I cared about on those fish finders were the water depth and water temp. I never took enough time to figure out how to read the fish finders. The only beep I cared about was the low water alarm. Bear in mind, today's finders have A LOT MORE bells and whistles than the units of 10 years ago. Good thread here. Really puts me back into my lane as far as looking for a fish finder for my Kayak. 👍
  10. Perfect!!! Adda Boy Dad.
  11. I'm a Vet. Granted, I'm a ticked off VET that likes NoOne but my secluded 15 acres of land. Granted, I did not read the thread in detail. But I KNOW WHAT Other ticked off Vets are going through. And I also know that it takes A LOT To get them to get help. How can I help this cause?
  12. Thanks for the replies ?
  13. So, I went through one of my tackle boxes, and I found 2 packages of the Strike King Rage Tails in there. They look like a swim bait. I have never fished a swim bait. My question is, which hook do you use with a swim bait? Also, the tail of the "Rage Tail" is attatched to the main body of the bait. Am I supposed to unattatch it prior to fishing the bait? My apologies. Looks like this thread should be in the "Fishing Tackle" forum. Been a while guys and gals.

  15. Sactly what Steveo said. I once had a buddy of mine push the button on my bait caster/crank bait set up. I had to reline the reel...?
  16. I got stuck pretty good about 15 years ago. So bad that I had to drive my embarrassed ass to the hospital for hook removal. Ever since, I have used a Boga Grip. I bought one 15 years ago, and I still have the same one to this day...
  17. Lake Massebesic. She's a tough nut to crack, but once you do you will be very, very happy.
  18. Lucky Craft Crank Baits. My go to and confidence inspiring baits
  19. I have always been the guy that gets up at the crack of dawn. I like to be in my boat and motoring away from the dock at sunrise. Don't know why, but my thickheadedness might be a reason. With the above said, this morning my alarm went off at 0415, I turned it off and went back to sleep. I just got off the water, and at around 1130 I caught a tired and beat up big post spawn fish. In the past, I have found that the smallies will bite hard in the rocks for about an hour after sunrise. They tuen off after that. I then turn my attention to the Large Mouth in different areas of the lake. So, to sum it all up, yeah, I also believe that bigger fish are caught later in the morning, based on my personal experience.
  20. I have never Carolina or Mojo rigged in my life.I want to try something new next time I go out though. I'm thinking of something similar to the set up you're talking about in this post, only I i am going to use a senko. My question for you is, what type of wieght do you use for a Carolina rig?
  21. BPS was not playing when I ordered my Hot Maps Preium East last night. I figured that them guranteeing the delivery of my Map for Friday was nothing but a sales pitch. I really wanted the Map for this weekend and the BPS down the street from my house does not have the map in stock. Much to my amazement the map was delivered today. Now I am REALLY Looking forward to heading out on the lake this weekend. ;-) Once again, thanks to everyone for the great thread. You guys really helped me make an informed decision.
  22. Before I drop the coin though, I was hoping to find out if my Lake is on the Premium Hot Maps East. I have been surfing the site now for over 15 minutes, and I still can't seem to find a list of Lake in MA. Would someone be so kind to point me in the right direction?
  23. Thanks for all the great replies! My birthday was just last friday, and oh lookeeee there. I have about $200.00 in BPS Gift cards sitting here on the counter. :-)
  24. Great thread. Thank Gawd I am not the only one. I have been out 5-7 times on my home lake since I have put the boat on the dock, and for the past 4 time I have only caught a few dinks here and thier. It's as if the whole pattern that I have worked out over the years for my lake just is not producing this year. Everything is off.
  25. I bought a new Humminbird 597 ci di hd. I have been playing with it for about 3 weeks now, but as I play with it, I am starting to see how a map helps. Maps are what shows you the creeks and channels on a lake and the contour lines, correct? If so, how would one go about researching which map he needs and which ones are the best for my area?
