  1. Looks like a Minn Kota Terrova 12v, 55lb thrust, 45" shaft will fit the bill. Now I just gotta figure out the whole cutting the shaft thing...
  2. I was going to pull the trigger on a Motor Guide Xi3 with the 36" shaft this week. Going to bow mount it on a Hobie PA14. Well, Motor Guide no longer makes that Kayak specific model. So, back to the drawing board. It's really a blessing in disguise as both of the trolling motors I have owned on my boats(back in my younger days) were Minn Kota's. And I never had any issues with either one of them. I was going to purchase the motor guide as it was made for a Kayak with a shorter shaft. Now that I know I can't get the Kayak specific motor and I will need to cut the shaft, Motor Guide is off the table. I am looking for a 55lb thrust trolling motor with GPS (Spot Lock is a must have if I am going to put one on my kayak). Can anyone here recommend a Minn Kota Trolling motor along the aforementioned criteria? Also, how much of a PITA is it to cut a trolling motor shaft?
  3. I keep going back and forth in my head on whether or not I want to install a motor on my Hobie PA14. The thing is heavy enough as it is. Now add a trolling motor to the bow and a battery and she'll be right at around 135lbs. But the convenience of one sure would be nice... See the dilema?🤪
  4. Well, the Gear Monkey has been beaten back today. Just got home from Bass Pro. The 93sv that is on sale is the old UHD, not the UHD2. I like to purchase the latest and greatest when I make a purchase of this magnitude. Soooo, I'll wait and purchase the fish finder that I want this winter.
  5. Went to my local Bass Pro yesterday evening to get a new pair of water boots for my kayak. Picked up a pair of rubber HUK water boots. They won't work. To tight on the arch of my foot when I put them on over my waders. I will go back to Bass Pro this morning and return them. Probably wind up with a nice inexpensive pair of Teva's. Here's the kicker though. This month Bass Pro has my fish finder on sale. The Garmin 93sv UHD2 is on sale from $1199.99 down to $799.99. 😍 Been going back and forth for a couple seasons now in regards to electronics on my kayak. I won't go over all the pros and cons here as that's another thread. Just DAMNIT. I know I'm going to walk out with that Garmin... Give me a nice winter project this year while the kayak is on saw horses in the basement. Install the new Fish Finder...
  6. Thanks to all for the replies. Just placed an order for 2 of the 3607's.
  7. So, I am looking for a 3600 Series Plano box. BUT, I want it to have NO CAMPARTMENTS. Nothing welded into it. I am looking for a 10.75x 7.25 W 1.75H Plano Box. And Like I said above, no compartments. Nothing welded. I got some sweet boxes like these with my Kayak, but now that I have moved onto a Fishing box for my tackle storage(Yak Attack), I am looking for something to work for my terminal tackle storage. I am in a Hobie PA 14. The boxes that came with the Kayak, which are very nice, are welded. So not much room for what I have in mind. I am looking for something for the compartment that is between my feet. Nice compartment, but what came with the Kayak doesn't work for me. I have searched the interwebs, and I have found nothing. So, I figured that someone here would have a direction that I can go. And now that I think more about this, Admin, please move this topic over to Bass Boats, Canoes, and Kayaks. My Bad...
  8. Nice to see Hackney having a good day today. And that shot of the Manatee this morning was cool as hell.
  9. on the St. Johns river. I got bored within 4 minutes watching a guy standing in his bow that was staring at a tv screen while I was sitting on my couch staring at a tv.
  10. Great Smallie fishing on Squam
  11. Out of curiosity as I will be attaching the same trolling motor to my PA14. What did you go with to attach the trolling motor to the boat? Also, did you go bow or stern mount?
  12. Which Kayak Cushion are you using?
  13. Can we talk about these? I have been fishing out of a Hobie PA14 now for 5-6 years. I didn't know that these cushions existed until recently. I have seen that some are better than others. My biggest complaint about my Kayak is lower back pain after a good day of fishing and also that I would like the seat to have more cushion. What seat cushion are you using and would you recommend it?
  14. The Dobyns 705CB Champions rod landed on Thursday. I am impressed as hell with the build quality of it. Also, impressed with the weight. Compared with my old 7' 10" Skeet Reese rod, the new Dobyns feels like a feather. Thanks to all for the assistance in me picking out my new Crank Bait rod. Now for winter to get done so I can go FISHING!!!
  15. Just Pulled the trigger on a Dobyns 705CB. Kind of excited...😆
  16. I'd like to pull the trigger on the MHM Carbon Cranker. I'd like to buy it from a supporter of this forum though. Can anyone point me in the proper direction?
  17. I typically only throw cranks that dive 3' to 6'. I OCCASIONALLY throw a deep diving crank. But that's maybe once a season. So, not really throwing anything that dives deep the majority of the time. And I rarely, if ever throw a lipless crank. I like square bills. And, thanks to all for the recommendations. I have some shopping to do. The gear monkey is YELLING my name...🤩
  18. I have been using a Skeet Reese 7' 10" Fiberglass Crank Bait rod for years. I want to say that I have had this rod for over 14 years. Lately I have found it to be to damned heavy for me. After about an hour of casting my crank bait with it, my forearm wants a break. I've been looking around at lighter weight crank bait rods, but I'm looking for recommendations here. Have graphite crank bait rods caught up to the "forgiveness" of fiberglass rods yet? I like the flex that my current rod has. But, as mentioned earlier, it's just to damned heavy. And crankin' is my thing. I LOVE my crank baits. What are you using currently and would you recommend it? Looking for a lighter weight crank bait rod.
  19. I have just recently started looking into these boxes. I like the H Crate as I do run a Hobie, but that large YakAttack box may be the one I pull the trigger on. I would love to have the rods behind me vs. being at my feet and in the way all the time. Not to mention the bait storage in these boxes...
  20. I have been out of the "boat" side of fishing for going on 10 years now. I currently fish out of a Hobie PA14. I would like to put a trolling motor on my kayak. All I have found that is geared towards us Kayak peeps is the Xi3 from Motor Guide. Spot lock, or something like that is a must if I am going to go through the process of mounting a trolling motor to my Kayak. I find it very hard to believe that Minn Kota does not have a 12 volt, remote controlled trolling motor with spot lock. Something that competes with the Xi3. In the past I have owned 2 Minn Kota Trolling motors. Both of them were tanks and never gave me an issue. I would like to try and stay with Minn Kota. Any recommendations?
  21. You won't catch me out of the house without my 43x in a concealed carry on hip. In the winter I like to take the bigger guns out for a "walk" every now and then. That, then there's the truck gun...
  22. I have an International Comp Tac Kydex holster for a G41. The holster is absolutely USELESS. It's useless for the same reason you mentioned above. Even with the retention screws backed all the way out, you can not draw the weapon unless you are pressing on the muzzle end of the holster with the non draw hand. I'm not to broken up about it seeing I found the holster in my holster drawer. I was looking for a holster to try IDPA out. Looks like I'll be using the FN 509T with the Safari Land Holster...
  23. Reading Comprehension 101. See my above post in regards to your post.
  24. I'm proud of ya. This thread isn't beating a dead horse. It's intent was to show that I have finally watched it in action and am shocked out how cool the technology is. That is all. Wasn't looking for another debate on the utilization of forward facing sonar...
