  1. You would be hard pressed to find a bigger Duckett fan than me. I Flat out LOVE the White Ice Rods and I'm really enjoying the new Terex rods too. Now having said that I bought a Duckett 360 reel because well, I'm a Duckett fan. The reel is simple and it is a nice reel, it is smooth and the drag seems to be ok, (I still think the Tatula drag is smoother) having said that I doubt I will be buying any more Duckett reels. They just do not stand out as anything special to me and they feel kind of like a mix between a Quantum and a Abu reel. I am just not a big fan of the reel. I do not think the reel holds a candle to my Daiwa tatula Type-R reels which I love. Now I am not telling you that the duckett reels are bad because they are not a bad reel but for the price and what you are getting I would buy a Daiwa or Shimano over the Duckett reel all day long. I'm just not impressed by the Duckett reels, now the Duckett rods are fan-freaking-tastic.
  2. Hard to say, it is a fantastic catch. I would range it in the 4.5 to 5.5 range but like every one has said it is tough to guess. If she had a spawning belly she may well have hit 6.
  3. Very Nice is their any where I can get some info on this. I would LOVE to meet some of the guys from here.
  4. Mono: Suffix Siege Fluoro: SeaGuar InvisiX
  5. I'm just wondering, was the fluorocarbon you tried the Vicious brand? That stuff is like throwing bailing wire.
  6. I am using a 7'1" Medium Heavy Duckett White Ice with a Daiwa tatula and 15# Fluorocarbon. I fish Toledo Bend a LOT and this set up works great.
  7. 7'1" MH/F I like Duckett White Ice 6.3.1 Baitcaster I like the Daiwa Tatula Type-R
  8. Through out the years I've fished so many different reels. I just do not think you can go wrong with Daiwa, Shimano or Lew's reels though. You should just see which one fits your hands and the one that you like the looks of and just go with that one. My favorite reels right now are made by Daiwa but I have many made by Shimano and a ton made by Lew's and I really like them also. None of them are bad reel's. The only baitcaster I can think of that I do not like is Quantum. I'm not going to tell you that Quantum's are bad, I'm just going to say I will not fish with them. Stick with Daiwa, Shimano or Lew's and you can't go wrong.
  9. Duckett Ghost cranking rod is great for $99.00
  10. I use a 7'3" Heavy and find this to be great for frogs. It is short enough to work the frog and long enough to help with a solid hook set.
  11. I fish a Senko the majority of my fishing time, I flip, pitch and even punch with Senko's and it is one of the best punching baits I've ever used but for just throwing a Senko weightless T-rigged I've finally, after many years, found what is in my mind the perfect Senko Rod. I am Senko fishing with a Duckett White Ice 7'1" Medium Heavy rod and Daiwa Tatula type-r reel with 15# Seaguar Fluorocarbon. This rod is fan-freaking-tastic for Senko's. I like this rod even more than my Megabass Orochi XX for throwing Senko's.
  12. All three of those are great reel's. I do not think that any one of those will cast less than you would ever need for it to cast. If I were you, I would go to the store and hold them all and see which one I liked the best and just go with it because I really believe you would be very happy with any of the three you listed.
  13. The reel seat on the Exo's has rivets in it and after a while they become loose and then the reel will fall off of the rod. I personally do not like the ACS system that Quantum uses but the Exo reel doesn't have that. Really the only problem I know of on that reel is the rivets. My fishing partner bought one and he returned it shorty after because of the rivets falling out, he replaced it and soon had the same problem, he then traded it for a Shimano reel and never looked back. I think it is a good reel except for that problem but it is a very big problem so I couldn't see buying one for the price they cost with rivets in the reel seat.
  14. Thanks for letting us know. I think I will get one to try myself. I have been thinking about trying out the winn grips and almost bought a Hammer rod just to try that grip. This will be a much better price just to see how good the grip is, so thanks.
  15. I am using a Duckett White Ice 7'1" Medium Heavy with fast action. It has a very soft tip but good back bone and it works really well for the scrounger / skinny dipper combo's I like fishing.
  16. I use a snell knot 100% on straight shank hooks.
  17. I am very sorry I did not get back to this thread until now. I had some family problems, my father had a heart attack and things have been hard for a while. He is doing much better now though and I am able to slow down a little. Thank you all for the replies and Yes, I was feeling guilty about getting such a great deal. I did go back by and I talked with the lady's husband. He did know she was selling it for such a low price and the reason was because their son was in a four wheeler wreck and had broken his leg. They were in need of money. I tried to give the man another $100 but he would not take it, after talking for a while he did take another $40.00. I had the money to give so I was glad to help out and I got a very nice rod and reel to boot. For some reason I still do not feel like it was enough money though. My wife said I was not cut out for the yard sale life but I told her it seemed more to me to be a take advantage of some ones bad luck sale and I couldn't do it, she said that is why she loves me.

Team Lew's reel and Carrot Stix 21 carrot gold rod.
  19. I went with my Wife last Saturday to Yard sales and I was very happy that I did. I found a 7'6" Heavy carrot Stix 21 carrot gold rod with a Team Lew's reel on it. I took the combo up to the lady and talked with her about it, she told me that her husband had told her to get it out and sell it because they needed the money. She was telling me she would sell it to me for $75.00 and after thinking about it I gave her $100.00 for the combo and brought it home. Now that it is home and I've went over it and seen just how good it is, I'm talking almost brand new quality, I'm starting to have second thoughts about it, I feel like the lady was ripped off, I mean a $280.00 reel and a $200.00 rod and I bought it for $100.00? So my question is should I bring them some more money for the combo? And if you agree with me that it is worth more, then how much more should I bring them? Thanks and I look forward to your replies.
  20. I feel that bluebasser86 is correct. The Ethos are not bad rods for the price and them might be worth looking into if you were wanting a BPS rod then I think they could fill those shoes. The Duckett Ghostt cranking rods are very nice too and they can be had a good price. I looked the new Veritas 2.0 rods over at the local BPS and I was surprised by what I seen. The handles were not lines up right on many rods and the line guides were way off. They looked very bad and I really wonder how those made it onto the shelf. If you buy one look it over really well before you get it.
  21. I would have to disagree with the others posting here. IMO, those rods are pure junk. The local tackle shop here at Toledo Bend had a sale on those rod's, buy 1 get one at half price. My son in law and I bought a couple and on our next fishing trip, I broke both of mine and my son in law broke one of his on hook set's. We went by the store and traded the broken rods out and on the next fishing trip we both broke another one. I didn't even bother trading the unbroken one out and gave it to my uncle, he told me with in a few trips that rod broke also. I would not give them $10.00 for those rod's, I still have two broken rod's sitting in my wash room.
  22. I'm impressed, Was a great review with good info that can be used. Thanks!!
  23. I like my Type-R a little better but only because of the color. Everyone is right on the money though, you really can't tell a difference between the Type-R and the Regular Tatula. I sold My Curado I and kept my Tatula's because I thought they felt better, plus I hated the side plate button on the Curado I.
