  1. Welcome to the forum. Lots of good people here with lots of great advice.
  2. I also have been plagued with the overabundance of Pickerel this year. Spoke with a Marine Biologist about it and he says the lake I fish is a Pickerel factory. Great! he said they coexists with bass just fine.
  3. Good advice. Had an Aunt die in California with no will and only myself and my sisters as next of kin. She had a decent amount of $$ in her estate. Took almost 4 years and plenty of grief from The State of California before we got it settled. A good bit of $$ went to attorneys.
  4. Went out Tuesday Am and again after dinner. Picked up a good number of smaller LM and some SM on rattle trap crank in 3-8 ft. Then went deep, 12-15 with a deep diver. Caught 6 really nice 3 to 4 lbs. range. In between at both areas caught better than 10 Pickerel. Annoying d**n fish!
  5. Marty, That is good advice. I will do that tomorrow. Gary
  6. Thanks for the info. Not trying to be fisheries management, but when the pickerel are so aggressive that they are chasing the good fish you are catching then coexisting may be more like the pickerel are wiping out the game fish. That being said, I am lucky enough to be retired and my boat is on my lift which allows me to fish everyday. 30 days a month 5 fish a day and I can put a serious dent in the pickerel.
  7. The lake I fish seems to have an overabundance of Pickerel this year. They hit on everything you throw out. I would like to reduce the population some, but can't seem to find any info on limits or reducing the population. Anyone got any info? Thanks!
  8. I have been using the KVD conditioner and like it.
  9. I found that using the Coppertone Kids SPF 50 works for me. No burning eyes from it.
  10. Welcome to the forum. Lots of great info here. I just came back to central NY from being in Fla. for the winter. When is it going to warm up?
  11. Living in this country I only should need to speak English. It seems like many people believe that Spanish should be a required. If you live in our great country then you need to speak our language! I also speak BASS!
  12. I had one come in from the pad side of my thumb. It took almost 5 mins. for that d**n fish to die and stop moving around so I could cut it off. The ER visit was not fun
  13. Got a place on De Ruyter lake, but plan on fishing Oneida, Onandagha, Otisco and any other suggestions.
  14. I'll be headed to upstate this Friday. I can't wait to get on the lakes up there. Fishing in Fla. this winter has really sucked!
  15. Mine stay on the boat locked up. Wish I had a garage to put everything in.
  16. Welcome to the forum. Great info here. What part of Central NY?
  17. Just picked up 2 bottles yesterday. When is it best to use it? Thanks!
  18. I would think later in the day when the ramp activity will be the least. Try to pick a day when the wind is nice and calm and try to bring someone along with some experience. We all have been where you are and it really isn't as difficult as you may think. Another thought to get use to backing the trailer would be to go to a big parking lot and just practice backing into a spot.
  19. I have a place east of you on De Ruyter Reservoir. I hope to get over your way this spring/summer and try a few of those finger lakes.
  20. I have a sister that lives in Boise. She is big into fly fishing. I have been in the area 3x. Love fishing Stanley!
  21. A 12' talon with a port bracket.
  22. I purchased one a couple of months ago with the micro guides. So far I am pleased with it.
  23. I can't say I watched many of the older shows, but try to watch many of the newer ones. It drives me crazy though how many darn commercials they have and the show hosts are constantly pushing some product. I watch Shaw Grisbey's show the other day and if he told viewers once he told them 20 times about the Trocar hooks he was using. Hey, I got it the first time!
