Lake Fork
Let me know how that dumb dice/ imitation sea urchin does for ya down there.. 🤣😂🤣 give it a whirl on Pickwick, it’s loaded with smallmouth. Seriously though, didn’t dude catch an over 5# spot last year? Can’t remember his name but he’s another Japanese fisherman. Between dice and poop baits, what’s the world coming to 🤪

Lake Fork
What lake did he win on last year? TB??

Century belt for him, I’d say this is his lake he’s crushing it again.

On top of that some of these marshals are well, overly cautious, and that’s putting it mildly

Curado MGL Gear Issues
Oh come on now.. the gears you refer to are MM, the newer are MM2 and my Bantams are the absolute, most quiet reels I’ve ever owned w the exception of my “D” series. Now with that said, I’m now using Daiwa zillions HD x 2 and one new old stock 1016 9 speed and I’m enjoying the Daiwa reels a great deal. They’re race reels, I can change them easily and make them my own. Not so easy with Shimano generally speaking. I like the gear cut on the HD reels better and it’s probably my work background that gives me that confidence. In other words, I’m not sold on MM2 either, but I’m working on using these reels and if I have the vaguest indication there is a a catastrophic failure, I’m gonna tag you and buy you a beer 😂😂😂 Now this is useful information. 👍

Curado MGL Gear Issues
My Bantams are the smoothest reels I own w Daiwa Zil HD a very close second, still, the MM2 does give me pause on durability which was a big reason I sprang for 2 HD zillions. Other than many complaints online, my personal reels are fine. I use them differently also. Time will tell and if I do have issue I will do a tell all.. So far so good

Hack in 5th place! What the heck..

Lake Fork
Trey had AOY last year wrapped up, but he’s not exactly a mature Man and blew it being goofy. But imo when it comes to FFS and probably even side scan I believe he’s better than almost anyone.

Lake Fork
I wouldn’t count out Livesay.. he straight up knows Fork. I’d be throwing a 10XD myself down there or a DB structure jig with @Big-O Rage Craw. Those two together are awesome. Another good choice would be a 1 1/2 oz chrome spoon. I have a few that are two pieces, welded with glass rattles. They’re killer on stripers @Cumberland. Tournament is fun watching because of Fork. 😁

Not hardly.. no way he’s going to surpass KVD.

Is rod/reel aesthetics super important to you?
That circular drag adjuster is just sexy to my eye..

Same, I gave up a few years ago.

Good stuff. Thank you.

Daiwa Zillion SV TW
The Zil you serviced after many seasons of saltwater use, that is an aluminum drive gear, correct? What is your opinion on that material for a drive gear? I've read repeatedly over the years that Daiwa has that alloy figured out while Shimano doesn’t seem too. I’ve seen more than a few Shimano aluminum gears that had broken gear teeth but never one by Daiwa. Just curious about your thoughts on it.

I should clarify I’m using 10# Yozuri Hybrid on the SV Zil..

Daiwa Zillion SV TW
😂 yup just enough lol I wouldn’t fish it that way though that was pushing the engineering to see what she could do. Of course my HD reels typically are set 6-8 up to 10

Daiwa Zillion SV TW
Appreciate that information, it truly is a great casting reel for sure and I was definitely taken by surprise. I’m on setting 3, using 1/2 tungsten on a GLX 844c, reel is 9.0. I had T3, my son just had to have it.. 😂 I loved the braking system on those reels for sure.

Daiwa Zillion SV TW
The first SV reel I tried came from BPS, wasn’t impressed and returned it. Grossly over braked. However this year I tried an Zil HD and was impressed. Me being me I bought a second one and then snagged a Zil SV model that was new old stock built during the 2016-2019 time frame. It is an exceptional long bomb reel. Trying to understand why, considering everything I’ve heard about these being short range casting reels etc I dug deep. It seems the braking profile is tweaked from a typical SV reel. I believe it. It will out throw any other reel I own and it’s not close. Jun from Japan Tackle said it was Daiwa’s best baitcast reel of all time. A long distance caster. It’s true, it’s been a pleasure casting a stock reel further than would ever realistically be needed. The HD reels are phenomenal also, excellent casting distances and amazing pitching reels. My advice is try one… if you don’t love it, flip it. I’m sure it’ll move rather quickly. My Bantams are much quieter though and I appreciate that.

MLF BPT Stage 4 at Chickamauga/Nickajack
Yep having a 21ft w the latest and greatest doesn’t exactly make someone a very good contender.. Take Bernie Schultz, what a super cool guy. 1st class all the way but he just struggles adamantly to place above 80’s or so on most tournaments. So there is just one example. Water should still be on the rise all night.. something about Chattanooga clearing the storm drains plus a lot of rain. I didn’t catch how deep Drew Gills fish were.. Heard him say a flat and the fish definitely looked like spawning females. No matter what, that’s where I’d be first thing..

Drew ran around half the day NOT fishing but using 2D then turned on FFS and hit the mother lode again.. d**n good tactics I gotta say..
