Hydrilla forms a thick canopy as you probably well know, under the surface though it opens up big time. Therefore punch thru it and catch fish. Stout rods, heavy rated line types are needed and horse them out. Focus on openings in hydrilla matts, circular in size. Hydrilla is both a good thing and a bad thing.. but it’s long been my favorite bass fishing tactic.

Quit buying multiple budget reels, combine your dollars and get a better reel, Daiwa comes to mind. Also that Arid rod gets good reviews on here. Best wishes.

Yup, Dual is the parent company that manufactures Yo-Zuri baits & hybrid lines. They are very good baits and I’ve been predominantly using them since 1999.

Imo, you gotta be able to bump cover and if you’re not then folks are missing out. That said these were the worst I ever used for that work. I settled on Yozuri crank baits. They are solid and take a pretty good beating and don’t break the bank. The OG Risto Rap were stellar crank baits but I’ve been out of those for a long while now.

Yep, I’m always stressing when ordering rods and even reels online. Actions on rods or build quality, you risk much with ordering half blinded.

Both the Calcutta TE 300 and 400 were and my late 90’s Daiwa Millionaires were. Nothing in the modern day market does that I know of.
