Yea it’s a big hook, I use 7/0 and 8/0 in the Gulf.. ringed MUTU heavy. They are stout believe me. Owner makes great stuff, I use the Mosquito lights also, rarely miss hook-ups with either hook type..

I watched the entire tournament. I loved the fact that FFS was out of the equation. The river system there is tough for sure and the top 10 surprised me. Those guys earned my respect. 2 Japanese guys were in the top 10, one I’ve never seen do anything but scope and he finished 2nd I believe. It reminded me of fishing the Ohio River out of Louisville, a total grind fest. Tough to view at times but a proper tournament that builds character..

This OP. I use a 7’ two piece Edge rod in Light/Fast with a Shimano Vanford 2500S.. gear ratio 5.3:1 as seen in chart above. In your case, No, 2” won’t matter in the least. Slow speed is useful, high speed is useful. All of my rods and spinning reels are purpose driven. I have several Shimano reels in FL & FM they’re all high speed excepting the Vanford.

When KVD won the Classic, 2005, Three Rivers Pittsburgh.. worst tournament I’ve ever watched. A total dink fest.. Tough to watch for sure but it really weeds out the slackers 🤣

If you’re ordering from main land China you’d be hard pressed to get it via FedEx or UPS, they typically use snail mail coming out of China and there are difficulties for anything coming out of Hong Kong via USPS.

I’ve been in 70’ seas before.. I'm a certified Blue-nose. But I went out in a 23’ off the coast of Jacksonville and we endured 6’ seas and me and my dive buddy got sea sick, not 🤮 but dizzy type sick. Jay has about a 75 point lead over Trey.. Trey is second now. That’s a pretty solid lead however there is a lot of fishing left to go this year..Jay is whacking them on the Sabine and is currently leading the tournament. I’ll tell ya, some of these kids are exceptional fishermen.
