  1. I'm planning to pick up an Enforcer and possibly Leviathon, will report back
  2. I’ve got two weird theories/experiences on this; if the fish are acting aggressive switch to pink and you’ll get even more bites. If the bite is slow try pink and it might get a lethargic fish to bite. I guess these thoughts are opposite, but maybe I just like outfishing my partner throwing a more traditional color
  3. You can use code TT10 fo an additional 10% off here too
  4. I really want one of these, I've got the Deps NZ Crawler and have definitely been bit by the big crawler bug
  5. I need to try this approach, I’ve had good success with less spool tension and more brake, would be interesting to see the difference
  6. Admittedly, I’m more of a casting guy, but have been really impressed with my Daiwa Legalis so far. Honestly, this reel has far exceeded my expectations and performs well beyond its price point. Mine is paired with a major craft nano ace rod, which is also an excellent value
  7. Little bummed there was no ebay code, was ready to pounce on a reel
  8. During the warmer months I love throwing a big wakebait at night. A slammer or rat are personal favorites
  9. If you wait for a sale the Dobyns Champ and other rods a little above your price range become attainable. Wouldn't be surprised if there are some sales this weekend for Presidents' Day
  10. What type of waters do you fish? Lakes, rivers, ponds? I usually only bring 3 rods in the kayak but which 3 rods varies greatly depending on where I'm going. I guess a good all around setup would be a crank type rod for hard baits, a mh/f casting setup for bottom contact or single hook moving baits, and a ml or medium spinning rod for lighter stuff.
  11. In addition to bottom contact, this could be an excellent frog rod. Not ideal for super nasty slop but for sparse cover, docks, etc I've found a MH rod to be perfect.
  12. Right bite baits, love their stuff https://baitandlures.com/
  13. A little gum for the river bass to chew on...
  14. Hopefully we get some good President's Day sales/coupons
  15. Best bet is to just open the tops on your boxes when you get home, leave them an a place with air flow and let everything dry out overnight. Otherwise, I've drilled some small holes in plano boxes to promote air flow, and it seems to work
  16. I'm a Daiwa guy, but at its price point the Shimano Sienna is king
  17. Bump, not much new info out there. Maybe a classic release? I've been big on megabass and Dobyns for a while but think I'm gonna grab the frog model. I had the original and often kick myself for selling it
  18. In the past 4 or 5 years tubes have become a go to bait for me, no matter the season. Simple in design but the ways to rig and fish them are endless. This is my favorite bait to throw when there is a jig bite and I'm fishing back seat
  19. I had looked at a few maps but hadn't seen this one yet, I'll print a copy and have my graphics guy at work enhance/laminate it. Thank you! We are staying in the circular bay on the southeast portion of the lake, seems there is a lot of vegetation there so I'll prob pack a frog rod along
  20. I fish a lot of the same waters you do, and while I do like original green pumpkin, I've found the following variants to get some action in our area: GP candy, GP purple, okeechobee craw, gp black/blue, roadkill and roadkill blue. Of course, these are general names and some companies will have their own name for each.
  21. Yea it wasn't my first choice of location haha, at least we are going after the cherry festival which I'm told is pretty crazy
  22. Are you at all familiar with a lake near Traverse City called Silver Lake? I'm going there on a family vacation in July and can't find much info on fishing there. Otherwise, my brother in law and I will definitely be hitting up Grand Traverse Bay a day or two, which should be fun
  23. Hey all, visiting the Traverse City area in July and am staying on Silver Lake. Anybody have any experience fishing this lake? Not looking for people to give up their spots or anything, just general info on patterns. I'm fairly confident I'll be able to locate fish, but surprisingly can't find much info out there. I would've booked a place on a more well regarded body of water but we needed a place to sleep 10 people and this is where we ended up.
  24. Triple Trout and Bull Shad are the best in the category as far as I'm concerned, though I think they are priced a little higher than you are looking for, perhaps maybe try a Spro BBZ? Consider though that 22nd Century (Triple Trout) and Bull Shad are both made in the USA small time operations owned by a couple of good dudes
  25. I suggest a basic backpack or sling bag with enough room to hold a couple utility boxes and some plastics/accessories you pick out for the day. Packs designed for fishing hold a lot of stuff but once you load them up they become heavy and cumbersome, which in my opinion is counterproductive to the reason you probably want a fishing pack in the first place (mobility and convenience) I used to have a "fishing pack" and found I was just carrying around a bunch of stuff I didn't need. Also, by skipping the fancy fishing pack you'll save a few bucks
