  1. Save em in a pile and tell myself I’m gonna melt em down and pour em but I never melt em down and pour em.
  2. I’ve boated carp that were upwards of 15lbs. They probably fight harder than bass of the same size. I think I could pull it off.
  3. If it’s a public body of water then go for it. Tournaments or tourney organizers can’t claim a public lake.
  4. Before I buy reels and rods that I haven’t used before I always see if I can find a thread about them on BR. I take the opinions of the folks on here more seriously than I do any other group when it comes to fishing gear. I think you’d be extremely hard-pressed to find a more knowledgeable group of bass anglers anywhere.
  5. Tactical Bassin has some “uncut” fishing videos. It’s literally just several hours of them fishing on the boat, for the most part pretending the cameras aren’t there.
  6. Good to see NY representing like usual….I’m a little surprised that Cayuga isn’t on there. If there was only one NY lake in the top ten I would have guessed Cayuga.
  7. The Rage Menace is money. Makes a great finesse jig trailer as well.
  8. Pat went and set the bar so d**n high!
  9. @Functional oh man I forgot all about Nonpoint.
  10. Coffee and water is a given. Maybe a turkey sammich or cold pizza. Granola bars sometimes. And always a bacon egg and cheese from the gas station on the way.
  11. For mid and deep cranking, I use Rapala DTs exclusively. I don’t really throw square bills.
  12. Classic Texas rig bait. For a while it was my number one flippin/pitchin bait.
  13. Without a doubt my catch rate would have been nowhere near what it was without our guide, Sixto. At the same time, the fish were seeminly everywhere you’d think they’d be. Most banks were steep, and most held fish. Lots of standing timber, and the fish would be there as well. Apart from a couple spots of deep structure only visible on sonar, most fish were caught in spots that most bass anglers would be drawn to naturally. But my catch rate would not have been what it was without a guide, that is for sure!
  14. I’ve only fished for bass in my home state of NY, and Lake Baccarac in Sinaloa, Mexico. I caught the Mexican bass on the same lures, same techniques, and same types of spots that I catch bass on in northern NY. Vastly different settings, but the fish were still structure-oriented, and to some degree, cover-oriented. They still wanted topwater baits, spinnerbaits, soft plastics, and jigs. Only difference was the size of the fish. I am pretty confident in my abilities to catch bass consistently almost anywhere they swim. Maybe I’m overconfident? But the one situation that evaporates my confidence is high muddy water. Usually the only time I visit Skunksville is when I’m fishing high water.
  15. MR-6? Sorry didn’t see that you already said that. Has the exact body as the Bill Lewis though.
  16. It’s fished similar to a spook or walking topwater bait, it’s just in the middle of the water column. You jerk it on slack line, and it causes the lure to dart back and forth. They typically suspend, so you can pause the retrieve and the lure will hold its depth. They are very effective in cold water but will work any time of year.
  17. The lakers got their big. Just signed Deandre Ayton
  18. Once you use tungsten you’ll never go back to lead. Siebert Outdoors Rocket Weights are the way to go.
  19. No, I caught my NY PB in September. She was over 23” long and only weight 6-3. Full of eggs could put her easily at 8lb+ in my estimation.
  20. Only when buying or selling something in the flea market. Haven’t fished with any fellow BR members but I’d love to. Any BR member in the Capital or Adirondack region of NY, I usually have an open seat in my boat!
  21. @gimThis is the week we’re having our deck done too. Sanded, washed, and restained. We’re outsourcing the labor though.
  22. I wear UV sun gloves most of the time and during the cold weather seasons I’m wearing wool gloves
  23. @IcatchDinks yes, and a beneficial flower! I grow some in the garden for the pollinators, mainly monarch butterflies as it’s their “host” plant.
  24. @IcatchDinks milkweed?
  25. Episode of BTL last week talking about the Baccarac tournament with a dude from the lodge for anyone interested.
