  1. Mowing lawns in the heat, with my mind on bass and bass on my mind.
  2. 6 or 7 years ago I was looking for a dedicated spinnerbait reel and was having trouble finding one in the right price range with exact specs I wanted, until I came across the Kastking White Max. At first I was really hesitant because of how unproven Kastking was but finally made the decision to give it a shot. 6-7 years later, it’s still slinging spinnerbaits a mile for me and functioning perfect. I would put this reel in the “workhorse” category. Has more catches than probably any other reel I own over the last several years. So now when I’m looking for a reel with certain specs and price and Kastking is an option, they’re in consideration.
  3. Me too. I have a 7’ MF Elite Tech that is exclusively on wacky rig duty. Such a great stick. Fenwick is a very underrated rod company.
  4. I would use as thin a diameter line as you can for the tiny X Raps and Husky Jerks. The XR-4 especially is really tiny. Line that isn’t super thin won’t let them have much action. The X Raps and UL Pops are two of my favorites. And the spinner is called an Underspin. That is Strike King underspin, and actually their saltwater one. But I see nothing about it that makes it saltwater exclusive. Works great for bass.
  5. @TnRiver46 from one house?! Geez. Didn’t know they formed colonies.
  6. Little poppers, jerks, ned rig or tube.
  7. I’ve thought about this as well. “Finesse” in bass fishing jargon definitely differs from the actual definition.
  8. Some more progress. We have the “patio” part of this project pretty much complete. A picnic table and chairs are all that’s left: Haven’t finished landscaping the garden portion because I’m waiting until we get our woodchuck situation figured out. Got somebody coming to do the removal next week, then we’ll be able to lay the stone and finally finish the entire project.
  9. Love this one. Looks like just a wall of nothingness beyond the island. Yesterdays fog photo was the densest fog I’ve ever seen. I was driving about 15mph on a 55 mph road that the launch is off of because the visibility was so poor.
  10. Island near the ramp looking like an eerie pirate ship in the fog yesterday morning.
  11. Medium fast is good for wacky rigs around sparse cover, poppers and walkers, 1/4oz spinnerbaits around sparse to moderate cover to name a few. Not as versatile as a MH-F, but still has plenty of uses.
  12. This looks like water chestnut rather than Lily pads. These things can be d**n near impossible to get through. Way thicker and tougher than lily pads, the under side is a tangled mess of thick stem, and can absolutely choke out the areas where they root. I think your best best would be looking for any gaps and sliding a slim T-rig or punch rig through.
  13. Awesome day! Some more north country hawgs! Always weird when they only hit on the surface. That was my day yesterday, sans the big fish.
  14. If you think you’re drinking enough water, drink more.
  15. Terminal tackle never gets best in show, but terminal tackle is the workhorse of the tackle box. Always doing the dirty work. Terminal tackle is the most important part of the system when it comes to getting fish to the boat. Sometimes when I’m going crazy buying baits, I have to remember to give the terminal box some love. I just finally moved all my bullet weights to their own box. My terminal box was getting insanely heavy.
  16. @herder nice adirondack bass and awesome looking campsite. I do most of my fishing and all my camping in the ‘Dacks.
  17. This morning was like fishing in a cloud. Thickest fog I’ve seen in a long time. Really weird bite today. So weird that the fish decided they weren’t going to hit anything below the surface. Every fish came on either a popper or weedless frog. Nothing of any size today either. Biggest went around 2lb. This is one of the ones that fell for the weedless frog: Other than a huge missed strike on a spinnerbait, everything was about topwater. Once the sun came out, the lake was completely dead calm and not a cloud to be seen. It was the most serene morning on my mountain lake, just wish the big fish were in a more accommodating mood.
  18. Currently dabbling in “containment” as we speak lol But this is just a band aid. Our plants are growing taller than these little cages each day. Got a ton of wire fencing laying around so I’ll be building a garden perimeter fence. The raised beds only take up about 150 square feet so it won’t have to be huge. The gate part may get a little dicey but I’ll figure it out. I actually love this. I would kill to have this on my patio. Girlfriend would probably kick me out lol
  19. He’s no Freddie Freeman, but we couldn’t ask for a better replacement. I think every Braves fan loves having him. I know I do.
  20. But this time the cilantro and parsley were left alone. Man I’m gonna be a biologist by the time I’m done with this project
  21. So homesick for this place.
  22. My attempt to grow a super hot jalapeño has already failed. Woke up this morning to a pepper plant that has been nibbled down to nothing. Which means we have a new pest feasting on our garden because woodchucks don’t eat peppers. Never thought I’d be fighting a war while trying to get my backyard in good shape but now I have no choice. Blood will be spilled!
  23. Happy Father’s Day to all dads. So many of us got started in this great sport because of our fathers.
  24. @thediscochef Idk what that guy is on, but that bass looks to be approaching 2’ long. Your fish could eat a 2 pounder. I see a lot of people claim dubious weights of their fish. You’re not one of them lol
