  1. They lost their perennial MVP-candidate 1B to free agency, Acuña who is potentially their best hitter has been on and off the field all year with injury, and same with Ozuna, and Albies has been hurt all year. And the offense still hasn’t missed a beat. Strider should take ROY. Told my girlfriend to get ready for another Braves postseason and she is not thrilled. I drove her crazy screaming at the TV, pacing back and forth last year. I didn’t miss a single second of their games, and I don’t think I sat down for a single second either. Especially during the Dodgers series and the Luke Jackson almost-fiasco.
  2. Love venison, prepared any kind of way. Tried rabbit years ago, enjoyed it but it was so long ago I don’t remember what it was like. Didn’t care for the wild turkey I tried.
  3. You’re definitely a week or two ahead of me weather-wise up there. Haven’t had to clear ice out of my guides yet! I’ll keep my eyes on this thread tomorrow for a bruiser cold water brown bass.
  4. I was looking forward to a Sunday matinée after a cold morning on the lake, but they’re the late game tonight. I guess I can wait a few hours for the brooms to come out!
  5. Cold front moved in, but I still had to get out. I’m so addicted it’s not funny. Air temperature was 38 degrees at launch. Wind was blowing 15mph+. Water temps between 58-60 degrees. The result was the toughest bite I’ve been on in several years. Even the esox were turned off. Only one thiccc nasty pickerel. Not complaining on that front though. PopMax and Dog-X produced nothing, but I was probably wasting my time. Too choppy and cold. Pitching timber with jigs and T-rigs got nothing. Lipless cranks and jerks, nothing. Ned rig, nothing. So I slung the rusty gate over and over. At least I had hot coffee and beautiful Adirondack scenery. Ice-in is looming, so I’ll brave whatever conditions I have to for the next 8 weeks.
  6. DeGrom? Out of the way! Scherzer? Got nothin! We want this division! Go Braves
  7. Spinnerbaits are one of the few baits that I will fish from ice-out to ice-in. Big time confidence bait for me. Like Glenn, I always have one tied on ready to go. Throw it right in the thick weeds, reel until the rod starts to load up from the weeds, then RIP it out as hard as you can. A lot of strikes happen as it comes free of the weeds. I also like to slowly roll them along bottom, just fast enough to feel those blades barely thump. The spinnerbait strike is one of my favorites as well, right up there with a big topwater explosion.
  8. Even after experiencing it, it’s still hard to believe.
  9. Fall is definitely beer. Winter is beer also. Spring? Beer. Summer? You guessed it. Beer. I’m a beer guy, although I only have a few a month. Where I live, there are breweries everywhere so I have plenty of delicious craft brews at my fingertips. The type of beer I prefer changes with the season, but I’ll never turn my nose up to a bitter, hoppy, juicy IPA.
  10. From making the trip myself, and talking to the other anglers, workers and locals, and even people on here, it seems the situation in Mexico is a little overblown than what is portrayed. I don’t think there has ever been an incident at this particular lodge, or any of the other ones owned by the same people. They have lodges on a few different lakes down there. Another thing I heard from anglers and locals down there is that narcos have little interest in messing with American tourists, and in-turn provoking the American government. Seems like they have their hands full without additional scrutiny from the DEA or USM. Seems like petty crime is a bigger threat to Americans. The great part about this place is it’s nestled in mountains, with very little around. Dirt roads with minimal traffic, and a tiny town or 2 were the only thing that was around. Even the shores of this lake were pretty desolate. A couple Tilapia farms were the only dwelling I can remember seeing on the shore. Ive only made the trip once, so these are just my observations from a limited experience there. Security was certainly on my mind leading up to the trip, but all my anxieties were relieved very quickly upon arrival. If anybody has the chance to go, I can’t recommend Lake Baccarac enough. Numbers, size, setting. Can’t be beat. And a world record size fish probably swims in that big deep lake.
  11. Sinaloa, Mexico. This is why:
  12. Good win for the Braves. Jansen really had to make it interesting though.
  13. Don’t be afraid to remove the legs completely. If I want a really small weedless frog profile, I will trim the legs completely off a Popping Pad Crasher or Jr.
  14. I agree. A 2 3/4” Storm ChugBug or Pop-X. And if I really need to finesse ‘em, a Rapala UL Pop.
  15. There used to be a guy who posted here frequently, by the name of@Mainebass1984 I truly believe he was on the path to catch a state record from Maine. The amount of giant bass he would post, all caught from lakes in Maine, were unbelievable. He may have a state record sized bass under his belt by now. A few years ago there was a thread about which BassResource user you would like to fish with. My answer was him, because I felt like he would give me the best odds to break a state record. I wished he posted here still. And @ol’crickety is really giving a good name to Maine as well.
  16. I actually want to do this. I’m sure my girlfriend will be thrilled as well ?
  17. Just moved into a new neighborhood. I’ve seen a few guys towing bass boats through. I always give them a wave, but unless I have my garage doors open, it’s not obvious I’m a fisherman when driving by. I gotta hang up my bass flag I guess.
  18. A small ribbon tail worm makes a good finesse jig trailer. I may cut an 1” off. Rage Baby Craws are good as well, but that’s a very similar in action to a Menace. My number one finesse jig trailer though is half of a Rage Menace like you mentioned.
  19. Yep, I’ve found the later (and earlier) in the year, later in the day when it’s warmer seems to be better. Even some sunshine seems to get the fish eating more than an overcast day this time of year.
  20. This schoolie was barred up nicely. I had my eyes on the rest of the school which were massacring the perch by the looks of it.
  21. Well they say possum is just the chicken of the storm drain.
  22. In my area, early fall quickly turns to mid-fall, which even quicker turns to late fall. Right now we’re past early fall. I’ll be throwing less and less (not none) topwater, and more and more jerkbaits and lipless cranks as the year goes on. We have less than 10 weeks before hard water season here.
  23. Diameter is another important factor when choosing line.
  24. I think I’m definitely in the minority when it comes to no braid on spinning reels. I tried it for half a season, and just couldn’t get on board with it. Ended up going back to Yo-Zuri Hybrid on all my spinning reels.
