  1. Same way with my shimano's I just about hate to put one on a flipping stick
  2. I had a 7'6 mojo flip and pitch rod i think?it was what I used for frogs I liked it
  3. That would be the route I would take.
  4. It's no secret that if you buy quality gear you won't have to be replacing it in a couple of years. I like curados and have a couple of chronarchs. My thinking is that by buying those types of reels I'll have to pay more up front but they will give me years of good service eventually paying for them selves. There's a huge difference in the weight and the quality of a 150 dollar combo and a 250 dollar combo
  5. I've always liked lay downs around grass.
  6. Why not get a spool of 8lb suffix mono and just call it a day. There's nothing wrong with mono and it's the best line for a multi purpose rod like you are planning to use it for. I'm sure the fish won't mind that you paid ten bucks a spool
  7. That's what I throw a swim jig on
  8. I've always liked stratos boats
  9. Seems gimmicky to me
  10. Here comes the drop bum zizz wahh boom boom wuhh uhh
  11. Yes they are complete crap bought two wen academy had them on sale something in te gears broke after the first couple of trips swimming a jig on it. The other one gave out about a month later throwing rattle baits. Do your self a favor and get a curado g they are on sale most places for 99.99
  12. I don't swim jigs with anything but braid so I like a little softer rod in the 7 foot range. I throw my soft swim baits on a 7'6 Powell diesel with 15-17 lb fluorocarbon. Tackle warehouse hAs the diesels for 54.88 on sale
  13. Maybe when I first started fishing tournaments. I'm confident in what I know how to do and I go out there and fish my strengths. Deep clear water is my weakness I don't go out there and try to throw Dropshot's with the guys that know how to do it. I find a couple of areas that have dirtier water and key in on that spot all day it takes patience and confidence. You can't be second guessing yourself all day. Every time we have a tournament I already know where and how I can get 6-7 good bites a day and I stick to that spot the entire day. It's hard to fish a 200 yard stretch of bank for 8 hours but I know the fish live there and they will bite at some point. Yeah I do strike out sometimes but in a single say tournament there's no sense in running all over the lake trying to do a little of this and a little of that. You don't have to catch 30 fish you've got to catch the 5 right fish
  14. I've done better on the swimming fluke and the swimming caffeine shad. Don't see why te cane thumper wouldn't work I like the colors better on the cane thumper
  15. What's cool about academy is that they price match so they price matched the curados for 99 because I'm fishing a tournament the 15th and wouldn't be able to get up to bass pro for the sale. You just can't beat academy's customer service I worked there for about two years and I miss my 25% off discount. I had a full time job and worked there 20-30 hours a week out check went direct deposit thursday night and I'd spend the whole check before I left that night
  16. If I'm just out fishing I guess his boat touching mine is too close. Normally on a popular lake you will meet someone heading your Direction and I usually give them te right of way and keep on fishing down the bank they just came from. Sounds like the guy was just out having a good time, wanted to stop and be friendly.
  17. There's some fine eating in that picture even the gar
  18. There's a local store here that has an offer if you buy a quantum Exo you get a free Exo rod I think they ship
  19. I'm right there with you. Ive been looking at mudhole.com and debating on whether or not I want to give it a try or not
  20. Dang sure is
  21. Hate to sY it but she's right
