  1. I've got a few curado 200g's and a chronarch 200e7 and another e7 I got a deal on that's coming in the mail. I can't tell the difference in the two reels while I'm actually fishing with them. Other than one is white and the other green. I'm sure the new ci4 is awesome but I don't have much experience with it. I don't see how you could go wrong with any shimano baitcaster in the $150 and up price range
  2. Just not being prepared is what was wrong. It's a Powell diesel crankbait rod and it's a medium/fast. I could sweep the rod 5 foot and not move the bait an inch. May ease back down there a little more prepared this evening.
  3. The curado g's do I think? I really don't see where it matters I've never broken A side plate
  4. Well I could have been fishing instead of watching other people fish haha What's crazy is the boats and the rods they are using I wish I could have handed them a few rods thru the screen.
  5. This makes me want a kayak even more. Just need to figure out how to haul it on top of my jeeps soft top and I can go anywhere
  6. Stupid spinnerbait was still basically brand new. You'd see a huge swirl on the bait I set back on the fish and here comes a spinnerbait. One fish hit it 3 times. I'll be back down there tomorrow though.
  7. That's what I took it as and that's what I do with my rods and reels. Ido have a chronarch mixed in with my curados but same basic feel and seems to cast a weightless bait better.
  8. Got a local lake I used to fish occasionally and haven't been back there in years. It was drained down so low when the new pipeline came thru I thought all the fish had died. It's rough getting in there and i wanted to go play in my jeep, then check the lake out. I had my crank bait rod in there from the other day and nothing rigged on it. I get down to the lake and I see something chasing baitfish and go to digging in my jeep and the only thing in there was a spinnerbait that had been hanging from my rear view mirror for years. Long story short I got 12-15 hellacious bites and only hooked two bass that were 3+. The rod was just too soft to get a hook in them it made me sick.
  9. I like the Trokar anything from 3/0-5/0 straight shank. Baits vary from a beaver to a Smallie beaver, ultra vibe speed craw or one of the big bites baits that looks like a bluegill. All we used to flip was 6inch lizards and if it gets tough that's what I go back to
  10. I change mono and flouro every night before a tournament. The braid stays. It gets expensive replacing it all the time but it's worth it. I'd be sick if I broke off a 1500-3000 dollar fish
  11. There's a ton of late 80's early 90's bassmaster tournaments on YouTube. Be warned you will waste the better part of a day on there watching them.
  12. Getting ready to spawn or spawning. Crappie do it too
  13. I'd do away with the extra heavy and get another medium heavy but that's just me
  14. That's where a couple came from. But if you were within casting distance of that bluff you wouldn't catch them.
  15. I had a 7'2 sellus spinning rodI was going to throw a small swim bait/flukes on. I watched a couple of different fish come up hit the bait and swim off with it and never felt anything. It sucked I got rid of it
  16. Been fishing for the last couple months. Just now starting to get good in the last couple weeks.
  17. I know a lot of people watch there line. But I'm not a line watcher I use a sensitive enough rod I can feel the fish tap the bait or you just get a heavy feeling then I'll watch the line. I try to set the hook opposite the way the fish is running. The only time I do watch my line is when I'm flipping because the majority of my bites come on the fall.
  18. Can't get the other pictures to load on photobucket. But my dad fishes pickwick a good bit and usually catches atleast a couple of small mouth like this each trip. He catches them in a way I don't care for a whole lot but that's about the only way we have been able to get on them. He uses his electronics to graph ledges and drops waypoints, then trolls a deep diving crankbait for them. It works but it's not as exciting as casting and reeling to me
  19. Don't buy the kind with the inserts they suck. If the insert comes out they will cut thru your line. You can't fit 65lb braid thru the h20 express brand tungsten weights. For just pitching 5/16 and 3/8
  20. I've bought a grand total of one chatter bait not really sure why. Used to fish in a father son bass club with my dad. I caught 3 fish in a really tough post cold front tournament and one of those was a 6 something. It was enough to win. Ended up losing it and never bought another. I'd rather swim a jig 100 times more weed less. Feel like I catch more fish swimming the jig. I've noticed if it's overcast-windy 9/10 boats you pass are throwing spinnerbaits and I feel like the fish get used to spinnerbaits. Perfect example other morning it was overcast and the lake was white capping. I started off with a squarebill my buddy is throwing a spinnerbait. I caught one about a pound on the crankbait. I switched over to a swim jig and put 7 in the boat in the next hour before he tied on a swim jig and we started smoking quality fish the rest of the day. Never got a sniff on the spinnerbait or chatter bait he was throwing
  21. 60% of the time it works everytime
  22. A 1/2 ounce is on the small side of jigs still. You won't catch near as many as you would on a worm but the quality will be better
  23. You guys that don't like the swim jig should really throw it more. Take two medium heavy rods higher speed reels spooled with braid and a handful of swim jigs. Don't take any other lures and go fish them. It's the only way you are going to learn.
