  1. You can use a plastic dye. Theres a company named Parasol Inc. that makes a product a lot of the truck guys use to dye mirrors and door handles to match their truck.
  2. I use twice the length of the boat. I have a loop on the end that I clip into the hook on the winch strap. Boat slides off, I pull forward until winch is clear of the water, then jump out and unhook rope from winch, pull boat in. Been doing it a long time without issue.
  3. Should be some good fishing during that time. Water temps were in the lows 60s last week and the fish were beginning to move up. We got a lot of bucks up shallow that appeared to be nest building.
  4. Coldsvt & I have been on both. Coldsvt is on Hammond right now. We did really well on Tioga last Thursday. We started at the cow Thursday morning with a few fish. The west end was still like chocolate milk. The water is super clear on Tioga.
  5. For pitching docks, I use a 7'3" MH *** *** with an 8.3:1 Lews Tournament MB spooled with 30# Smackdown and a 20# FC Sniper leader. I like the high speed reel for taking in slack quickly on fish that hit the bait on the fall and for making quick follow up casts. For heavy cover I'm using a heavy action Abu Vendetta with a Shimano Curado I in 7.1:1 ratio spooled with 50# smackdown. I'll throw heavy jigs and punch rigs with this rod. So that's example of two different rigs for different pitching situations. Food for thought.
  6. To muddy the waters even more, throw the naked rage blade into the discussion.
  7. Bbz-1 6" rainbow trout and KVD magnum 8.0 squarebills.
  8. The one I have is the frabill that you can find at TW.
  9. I think Coldsvt and I will be hitting lamoka/waneta sometime next week. Might even get to keuka another day too. I'm hoping to head up to the north branch of the susquehanna near Wyalusing soon. Great stretch of river there.
  10. Yes, both. I find the extending pole easier and faster. If its too deep, I have a hound dog on 100# braid.
  11. I fished there once a couple of years ago. Nice pond. What a shame.
  12. Cowanesque Valley. Its home base is Cowanesque lake just over the border in PA. All of the CV tournaments are open buddy tournaments. So you can just show up at the events you want to fish and register at the launch. Its pretty laid back and fun. You can check out the info and schedule here: www.cvbassleague.com
  13. Coldsvt and I fish together the majority of the time. We do fish tournaments in the area with the CV League and we'll be trying the BASS team trail with the Upstate Anglers this year. The tournies with CV are on conesus, honeoye, lamoka/waneta, little lake (cayuta), cayuga, and cowanesque.
  14. Same here. I cover up in the sun and stay much cooler. Pfd stays on.
  15. I started wearing an inflatable pfd last season at all times as a promise to my wife and kids. Now, I don't even know its there. It doesn't inhibit my fishing in any way. It doesn't make a lot of sense to wear it when you're sitting down in the lowest part of the boat while motoring and then take it off to stand on the highest point, closest to the edge.
  16. I use a short leader but also coat the knot with some mend-it. It makes the knot more uniform and less edges to stick in the guides.
  17. Well, I'm not so sure about the rest of the report but it talks about Lake Jean and I do not think the fishing will be very good since its being drained. Kinda makes me question the authors research.
  18. Went this morning and it was insane. There must have been 50 bass boats on the lake. Tons of floating debris ranging in size up to full trees. Lake is still down a good 6 feet. None of that stopped the morons in their shiny new Rangers & Skeeters from blowing down the lake well over the 45 mph speed limit. Also got to enjoy lots of folks at the launch that park in the middle of the ramp and proceed to unstrap and load ice chests/rods/vests while there's a line of trucks with trailers waiting.
  19. I guess I will let you know for sure tomorrow. Plans changed and am heading there tommorow instead of Raystown.
  20. I throw them on a 7'2" MH *** Green with 40# Smackdown. The wakebait has become my favorite topwater. The strikes are usually pretty violent.
  21. Looking at the webcam, Honeoye appears to be open.
  22. Fish commissions regional report mentions boats launching: http://fishandboat.com/splncro.htm
  23. Coldsvt and I are looking to hit the lake for the first time ever on Saturday. We will be coming down from the north and were wondering if some of those with experience could recommend a launch? We will primarily be targeting lm but it wouldn't hurt our feelings to hook into a striper.
  24. If the water isn't frozen, its topwater time
