  1. I know when I was searching for info on the lucky craft rods, I didn't find much. So, I wanted to post my impressions since I just bought one. I got the 7'6" "long cast" model. This is a beautiful rod. The cork is perfect. All the reviews I found talked about how these rods are big bang for the buck for $150. I got mine from TW for $99 and I don't think I could find another rod of this quality for that price. I haven't been able to fish with it yet, but the action appears to be exactly what I wanted. I will post back after I've had some time on the water with it and hopefully fought some hawgs.
  2. I'd like to reiterate that the gentleman I spoke to was not a bps employee. He was a factory daiwa rep. The lews conversation started after I told him I had all lews reels.
  3. White Pure Poison chatterbait
  4. I ended not buying one because I scored a bb1 pro in 5.1:1 for the same money.
  5. A new smaller boat bag, tourny pro boat seats, and a pq for a coworker that wants to get into baitcasting. I handled one of the new revlution reels and I couldn't put it down fast enough. BIG frame. Just did not feel good. I really hope the speculation is wrong and that is not the next pq.
  6. While at BPS on Saturday, I was looking at a new TX190. It appeared to have the usual white/gray marine carpet. When I touched the carpet, I thought my head was playing tricks on me. For lack of a better term, it was rubber carpet. What an awesome idea! It gave like a rubber mat, but seemed as if it had individual strands, like carpet. It just made me want a TX190 even more.
  7. He also said Randy Howell won the classic because of the t-wing system. Without it, apparently Randy doesn't get his Livingston Rapala crankbait the "extra" 20 feet to the fish.
  8. Went to bps yesterday for the spring classic and had a conversation with the Daiwa rep at the reel counter. He told me "Lews used to be good, but their reels really went downhill after Shimano bought them."
  9. Anyone own one that can chime in?
  10. I own the 8.3:1 mb and I use it for pitching. When working docks, it is awesome to be able to hit a spot and get the lure back in so fast for the next cast. Also, it doesn't take much to reel down for a hook set. Gives the fish less time to spit the lure. Its a sigificant difference from a 7.1 reel.
  11. Degrease the thing thoroughly and lube before doing anything. Noise and drag in a new reel are usually due to grease packed tight from the factory.
  12. I like his show but he's been copying Zona a bit too much as of late. Keep it original, Dave.
  13. I'm looking at the Curado I in 5.5:1 for cranking. On Shimanos website, they show the 6.3:1 with an ipt of 23 and the 5.5:1 with 26. That seems backwards. Can someone clarify what the actual ipt is for the 5.5:1 model?
  14. I just got the new lews power handle with the big knobs and I really dig them. I wasn't sure if I would but they feel great in the hand.
  15. I use the same box as Coldsvt, but look at the 3771. Its thin like the 3701 but has the micro adjustable dividers. I may go that route next.
  16. I got a deal on a 13 *** and now looking for a 13 *** crankenstein. Also picked up a veritas for skipping.
  17. The most critical aspect is making the v on the surface. If your bait is running too far under the surface to leave a v, the fish don't like it as much. As for where, I've been amazed at the junk the arashi wake goes through. It will slide over submerged timber in a way I thought not possible. Bang it off standing timber like you would any crankbait. It definitely kills around grass clumps.
  18. Find an old transom mount trolling motor and steal the clamp on mount. Clamp it on and slide your pole in.
  19. My bps bantam 2x is a 1987 model and still works like a champ! I bought it off of craigslist from a guy that had it laying in his backyard. I store it outside still, but I at least prop it up against the shed.
  20. Its insane how much tackle the magnum holds if you use the slim 3701s. It gets pretty heavy.
  21. I absolutely love the externally adjusted centrifugal brakes on the bb1 pro. I wish lews would use it on more of their reels.
  22. I just bought a supreme mgx and could not believe how much grease was packed in that sucker. It was a different reel by the time I cleaned it and and relubed. Consider that when checking them out at the store.
  23. Fyi, you can buy 100 packs directly frm Gamakatsu. Check their website.
  24. Yep. It fits between the wheel wells in the bed of my GMC Sierra. The pontoon design hull makes it more than stable enough to stand in. Heck, I've even used it on the river to float skinny water that I can't get my jet boat into.
  25. I have an old bass pro bantam 2x which is the predecessor to the pond prowler. Its 8' and I feel very comfortable standing and fishing from it. It goes into some skinny water too. I can go pretty shallow with a trolling motor, then break out the push pole.
