I'm pretty sure that even the smallest spool in the Lews lineup could hold enough 100# braid to pitch/flip 30'.

Personally, I like having both centrifugal and magnetic brakes for pitching/flipping. Just a bit more control of the lure entering the water and backlashes. The super duty has only magnetic brakes. Super duty also seems a bit overkill for that application. Thus, I'm using a tournament mb in 8.3:1 ratio and used the money saved to get a bb1 pro for deep cranking.

So, if I planted brush piles on my home lake and then 5 years later become an elite series pro, am I then supposed to not be allowed to fish any events on that lake?

Does the PRFC then cover anyone fishing in the boat? It appears that then Consolidated Chesapeake Bay & Coastal Sport Boat License is the way to go as it allows anyone in the boat to fish and is pretty much the same price as a single non resident fishing license.

I'm a PA resident looking to fish the Susquehanna flats. Thus, my boat is registered in PA. I assume I'll need a non resident freshwater license. Do I also need the sportfishing boat sticker that I see mentioned?

Legend SS with a 150 jet. I own a starcraft with a jet and there's really no place I can't go. Obviously I'm not taking 5' waves with it, but I can also run in 4" of water. I can't express how great it is to not have to worry about dinging a prop or lower unit.

Isn't an alberto with no wraps down just an albright knot? I use the alberto for my leaders and its pretty compact and strong.

I'm more of a power fisherman and my fishing partner is more finess. There are many days when I'm covering water with topwater or a chatterbait while he's throwing a swim jig or plastic. It works out really well when we're trying to locate fish. One tournament we were on a lake where all of the other fisherman said they'd never had any luck on topwater. We started the morning fishing around some docks surrounded by lily pads. I scored a couple of keepers on a buzzbait while my partner worked the edges with a jig. My absolute favorite thing is pitching docks. But if I'm not doing that I love looong casts covering as much water as possible.

The live blog is hilarious. It would appear some of those boys have never experienced 32º temps. Its like the end of the world. Heck, its 23º here in PA right now and that feels downright balmy compared to what it has been. If there was any soft water within 50 miles, I'd be fishing right now!

Arashi. I can cast them a mile on 40# smackdown. I'd pass on the bx wake minnow. I have two and they are less than impressive.

My fishing partner (Coldsvt) and I have been fishing together for 30 years now. I have fished with others but there's nobody else I enjoy fishing with more. He shares my passion and we always have a ton of laughs. We fish tournaments together and have had those grind it out kind of days, but even on the worst fishing days we share a laugh. When either of us do fish alone, we text pics of fish caught to each other.

The one aspect that intrigues me most is the exceptional resolution of a tablet versus just about any sonar unit out there. The definition you'd get would be outstanding.

After researching a bit, its the optional vinyl floor, like Bassaholic said. Its a $300 option.

If you search youtube for Fishing With Rusty you will get to see Rusty fish Norman quite a bit. I watched all of his videos before heading to Lake Norman for the first time.

Good info! I've been considering an Ion but I will look at this other camera first. I've bought quite a bit if home theater and computer stuff from monoprice, all good stuff.

I will most definitely post back real world experience with the rod. Unfortunately, here in Pennsylvania, I may be lucky enough to get out on the river in a month and the lakes by April.

I played with one at bps on saturday and definitely do not like the size. It felt huge compared to your average low profile reel.
